I had quite the same experience with buying a car in 2022, it was a 6-month wait and I didn't get to pick the color. Though it's even worse with EVs, you cannot get one at all unless you live in one of the "trial markets". Or you're willing to buy a Tesla... I'm not gonna get into my strong opinions on Elon Musk.

Yes, let's keep it light!
EVs can have all kinds of issues due to their novelty and single producers of parts that can be vulnerable points in the supply chain. Once they expand and we see redundant part makers, their production should be more consistent.
