One was resticated from Cadet College Petaro, Sindh, and the second one hardly passed his graduation in third division. By the grace rule of Democracy, both acqiured the top positions of Pakistan. Our people deserve this fortune.
Oh my God !! With such minimum instrumentation on the Fokker, such an approach in an era of fly by wire, these pilots are comparable to WW II pilots......... Maybe even better !!!
Fokker F27 "Friendship." First flown in 1955 and powered by Rolls Royce Dart engines. Nice, typically classic lines for the period. First airline to fly them was the Irish airline Aer Lingus, but flown by quite a few others around the world. Reliable plane, but like most of these early liners, very noisy inside and out. The instrumentation is quite basic with none of the refinements of later years, and quite a difficult plane to fly. I certainly wouldn't want to fly one in the mountainous regions like Pakistan. The majority of these aircraft were phased out by 1996, although there are still a few around. I'm guessing that this video was shot in the mid-to-late 1980's, as by the millenium it is doubtful that any would have passed the CAA airworthiness regulations for commercial travel. During the same period, the most popular and comparable aircraft would probably have been the Vickers Viscount and Vanguard - at least in the UK.
No dear Charles, the time you mentioned was too old for a Pakistani lady to fly. I guess it must be late 90's or early new millennium. We grounded Foker after a fatal accident near Multan in the year 2006.
This was both beautiful and nostalgic. One wishes we had more female pilots like in most other countries around the world. Look at Ethoipa, a third world country. They pride themselves on their brilliant female pilots. They even do us proud. Our once thriving airline has perhaps the lowest tally of female pilots. Alas. 😌

Worth noting that it was the First Officer who flew the plane throughout the approach and landing. It was the Captain who was filming (very badly), and the only other thing he did was run through the app/ldg checklists with his 2/i.c. In that mountainous region, he should really have been in full control, rather than leaving it all to his co-pilot. Flying through dense mountains, aircraft are subject to serious wind currents and wind shear; low cloud such as was seen in the video is also potentially hazardous, so the Captain must have had a lot of faith in his co-pilot, but in fact he was more likely breaking his airline's Operating Procedures and putting everyone's lives on board at risk. Even with today's FBW and hi-tech instrumentation, there are always two at the controls, because anything can happen!

With all the modern FBW systems and glass cockpits, pilots are seriously becoming disconnected from their aircraft. Additionally, there was a third person in the cockpit. Captain was not making this video. His voice can be heard in the beginning.

Not any more. After 2006 crash incident near Multan airport, the remaining Fokers were grounded indefinitely. Now the ATRs have taken over instead.
