  • So you've had your gallbladder removed and perhaps things appeared to be normal at first, but eventually your gut troubles began and before you knew it you were looking at a diagnosis of Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) and no hope of relief from the pain, fatty foods irritating your stomach, urgent diarrhea and gas.
Gallbladder removal has become a common medical procedure in hopes of correcting gallstones, chronic inflammation, pain and even bile duct stones.
Now, fortunately, you CAN live without your gallbladder, but at what cost?

Although. Tbh for me as my gallbladder was toxic to me. It was fused to my liver gallstone 5.5cm my gut probs are minor in comparison. I can live with that. Biggest benefit of it gone is my head is clear chronic fatigue and brain fog gone. I can breathe without pain and haven't been sick or had gallbladder attack since. I do have digestive bloating and bowel probs constipation.

I had to have my gallbladder removed when i was 12 years old and after that my life changed for the worse, my doctor never explained any of this when i was recovering and never checked in with me ever afterwards. I struggle with bile just leaking into my intestines no matter what i eat really, my family tried to be my own doctor for so long and just tell me to "eat a salad" which was bull. I'm so glad that I've found this channel and this video especially because now I know i'm not alone and that my problem here is a real issue and valid. I wanna try to educate my parents on what I can eat and do to better help my issue, as well as myself. Same here. 30 years.
People can't even imagine what is it like to live with diorrhea after eating anything. And trying to keep it discrete.
2 weeks ago, I had to cancel an event that was obligatory at work, because I couldn't get away from the toilet. So I needed, the firstvtime ever, to ask for a doctor's note to prove I wasn't well, to givecto my employers. The doctor I visited for the note - who is a gastroenteriologist!!! - was so rude to me, telling me I'm a fraud, trying to cheat amd skip work , and she never heard such thing I'm trying to lie there, that I run away from her office crying loud like a child. After 30 years of suffering, a doctor tells me I'm lieing and my problem that they caused doesn't exist. I take some liver enzymes for digestion , that helps. But I found that myself, after researching and trying things.

I was suffering horrible symptoms for 6 years, went to see so many doctors and a naturopath and been to hospital a couple of times before a doctor came to my house after not being able to move or stop vomiting. He hardly spoke any English and took one look at me and knew it was my gall bladder. After a week in hospital because I had such a bad infection in it at it was loaded with stones it was finally removed. 5 years on It has made so many things better. But some of my symptoms have never gone away and I thought it was just me. I bloat after every meal and after some meals I look like I’m 6 months pregnant. I always feel like I have an upset stomach all the time and my farts are better than my boyfriends 😂😂😂 I also get great constipation most of the time. Constantly tired and sluggish with no motivation. The only way I get any relief is by not eating much and when I do eating like a rabbit.
Thank you for letting me know I’m not alone and for letting me know it’s not normal and there is something I can do about it.

Yes but theres is no other choice, but to remove it when sludge or gallstone develops, you also have to explain that there is risk and serious consequences if you don't remove it such as getting pancreatitis or have it burst inside of you and even more risks involve. Using olive oil and lemon won't work for everyone to flush it.

If it works for some though? Why can't it be tried. Surely a gallbladder clinic needs to be formed. Aiming to keep it threw all the other non surgical routes. With scans and follows ups to check what's going on, diet change support too. Many people really struggle to know what to eat and what's truely healthy. Everyone's case is different. Something with one stone and infrequent attacks, compared to someone with loads of stones and one stuck in the bile duct and the complications that come from that, is a different situation. Not everyone with stones with get to that point at all, longer it's left though of course the worse it will be. Surely there is another way to treat this

I haven't had my gallbladder for 14 years. Things aren't perfect but they're better. I was feeling ok at first, but that's because I was eating lots of fruits and veggies and avoiding junk. Then I started eating more processed foods and that was horrible. But for about 8 years I've been alright by sticking with less trigger foods. Also, I don't eat animal products so that helps, but it doesn't alone solve it.
I significantly reduce fats (even good fats), starches, legumes, and processed foods *in the early part of the day.* Particularly morning. They just trigger my stomach. Doing this has helped so much. I have to start with fruit and maybe some oats or bran flakes. Nothing super dense. Then after an hour or two I can increase legumes, nuts and seeds, starches, and even some refined foods throughout the day.
I cut out alcohol 2-3 months ago and that helped even more. I also just cut out caffeine, and again, helped. Both of these things just do not sit with me! Alcohol causes problems the following morning.
Occasionally I can have a digestive problem. But being consistent, especially during mornings after those hours of fasting, has been the biggest help.
When I was sick a lot, I was eating tons of white pasta, white breads, oils and margarines, starches, processed foods. Now I eat WAY LESS of these. But starches don't cause me problems if I eat them after noon. Some of these foods are ok if I eat them *later*. Example: I'll have potatoes and cold pressed oils for dinner but not breakfast. Edit: Oh yeah, and I do better eating small, frequent meals just like she says in the video. 🙂 ❤️

Just do the best you can. Change one thing at a time and see how it feels. Sorry you are ill. 😣 I totally understand. Avoiding high fatty foods and processed foods is very helpful in my experience. (Especially in the morning.)
Something else I forgot to mention is I get regular hunger pains that wake me up at night. All started after the removal. But they weren't as bad at first. They'd go away after eating something small. They've gotten worse over the years and don't go away so easily. I am going to the Dr next week to talk about it.

They have put me thru every test available, no one could explain the throwing up, not even a hint! I had to have an ultrasound of my liver because blood test were not good and the guy said “why did they remove you gallbladder?” Bingo, I am researching this myself! I found you! Thank you for the information you have given me, can you explain my throwing up? 1 - 3 times a week, not all the time but frequently. I’ve made an appointment with my GI doc. • @thedolphin5428

Everything this lady says is true, although my story confirms it via having no-side effects due to a proper diet. I had my gb out some 3 years ago (at age 62) with absolutely no pain at all straight afterwards, not one pain killer in hospital nor any pain killers at home. I have had no dietary or bowel side effects in the subsequent 3 years.
So, these facts indicate that simply taking out the gb does NOT have to leave you in bad health for the rest of your life.
HOWEVER ... when people say things about the after effects of gb removal, such ailments may not specifically be the result of the removal but of something else in their bowels and/or their "usual diet" which, if left unchanged, will make the body behave just like it was BEFORE the operation or even worse.
Many people say "I can no longer eat my normal diet". But the bad after effects of the removal are mostly dependent on what one considered before and considers now to be a "normal diet".
I had been a strong, healthy, not overweight, not diabetic, lacto-vegetarian for 30 years. Wholefoods, no junk food, no alcohol, no smoking. Since having the gb out, I've not needed to make ANY changes to my diet to remain just as healthy as I was before. The gallstones were, I believe, caused by 20 years of using only powdered full cream milk (it is hydrolised cholesterol, 4 x times more likely to make gallstones) as I had no fridge in the forest for fresh milk. So I've cut that down now! I never had before, nor ever have to now, run to the loo.
But if one's previous diet was lots of meat and fats and McDonalds and pizzas and milk and biscuits and processed foods and alcohol and overeating and eating late at night and snacking all through the day, and one hasn't since changed it for the better, then they can fully expect to have nasty post-operative side effects and bowel problems into the future. Such diets were undoubtedly the cause of gb stones and associated bowel problems which have been worsened by having the gb taken out. One can thus expect troubles because they do not have the bile reservoir (gall bkadder) that nature gave you. The gallstones were caused by too much cholesterol and bilirubin which the liver and gallbladder could not handle back then. So losing the gall bladder should definitely motivate a person onto a better anti-gallstones diet than before.

I had constant bloating after surgery but no pain or anything else. In the last 2 years I’ve had severe bloating in my gut (right under the bottom of my lungs) so I decided to do a whole “gut health” change because I have autoimmune disorders. No sugar, no processed or fast food. Was doing really well, like noticeable well until the good bacteria started fighting with the bad bacteria but that passed and everything was going fine... I started eating less and only once or twice a day about 3 weeks ago and OMG! My stomach bloated so bad and the pain was so much worse when my stomach was empty then the pain got less when I ate. After being in the hospital a few days ago, I’m back to eating small amounts of food throughout the day.
My theory is that the bile is constantly dripping so eating small amounts of good foods all day including pot set yogurt with bran and healthy fats is the way to go... 🤷🏼‍♀️

I have cut down PROCESSED fats, greasy, carbs and sugars. Knowing the little amount of bile that flows from the liver directly to the intestines gives me a good understanding of how much of healthy fats I should eat. Healthy fats i.e. almonds, walnuts, olives and fish oils works for me. It is all about listening to my own body. The body is an amazing masterpiece that will heal itself if we feed it with wholesome healthy food, and live a healthier lifestyle. Gas, bloating, vomiting, etc. Now developed IBS and Dumping Syndrome which is worse than when I had gallbladder issues. With in the past year I developed dumping syndrome which I never heard of. Had my gallbladder removed 7 months ago after gallbladder "attacks" were getting more frequent. It was perfect for about 3 months, then things changed. I developed regular nausea, diarrhea, and a burning pain where the gallbladder was. Also, I am very fatigued, which is something I was not at all prior to this cholecystectomy. So for the last 4 months I have been dealing with this on and off. The surgeon is no help. He just says the surgery went perfectly and nothing is wrong with that. My GI did an endoscopy and colonoscopy and those came back clear with a minor report of gastritis. I am on Prilosec 40mg for about a year now, sucralfate for healing the gastritis, and Questran for bile salt diarrhea. Still get upset stomach and mild nausea and I can't link it to anything I am eating. It is random. I mentioned bile salt supps to my GI and she said no that won't help. She said bile salt is what is contributing to my diarrhea. I have a follow up with her in a month, but as of now, they have no suggestions on any treatment or anything I should be doing. Really frustrating. Any tips on what I can try so I can feel normal again?

    Hi Alyssa,
I just found your video. It’s for my mom. She’s 80 yrs old. She had gallbladder surgery 3 weeks ago. She started off well, but has been suffering for the past two weeks with on & off diarrhea, vomiting, bloating, and constipation. Note: years ago she had diverticulitis surgery. So she has a short gut. She was better before than now with the gallbladder removal. The surgeon did not explain anything to her about these types of possible side effects. She’s lost her appetite and is losing weight by the day. I am very concerned. We called the surgeon and after a few days of several calls he replied and told her that some people have this reaction because they lack an enzyme for digestion. Is this the bile salts that you are referring to? He ordered a very large pill for her to drink three times a day. Since then, she’s been worse. I also read that after gallbladder removal, sometimes it’s common that the small intestine twists in the space where the gallbladder was. Thus, forming diverticulitis. I could really use your advise on this matter. The Dr.’s don’t seem to think it’s a big deal. SOS!
    Thanks,
    Ani

Hi, I had my gallbladder removed in 2008 and have experienced problems in the last few years. Mainly nausea and every now and then I have a few bad days with frequent bowel movements and nausea. My Dr prescribed ursofalk and it has helped the daily nausea but still get "flares" sometimes. My question is if I have bile reflux would taking bile salts make it worse?

  • @kyrad6543

Thank you for your video. I'm having mine out in a month. Apparently my family has a propensity to this as three of my family members have already had theirs out. Of those three, two have had multiple issues like you describe following the removal. One of whom suffers more than the other. I did discuss this with the doctor in the E.R. and he tried to tell me those symptoms could not be related to gallbladder removal and you don't "need" your gall bladder. There is a big difference between one can live without the gallbladder and it having no purpose. I challenged him on that and he scoffed at me! I don't know what my outcome will be but I know for a fact that there are people who experience issues.

All the doctors will scoff because the only training the've had is with removing the gallbladder.... which is necessary sometimes, but not always. Doctors in China remove only the stones, not the gallbladder. Not having a gallbladder takes a long time adjusting to or the body may never adjust. I feel sorry for people who put all their faith in doctors.

I'm going to use this as a base for healing. My gallbladder comes out in 2 days. I was in a car accident that has left me with all the pain she's describing prior to having it removed. I already eat healthy all the time, but I can't really eat anymore because everything makes me sick or causes me pain. Just having it removed would be great to get rid of the vomiting, nausea, and severe pain in my back and shoulder.
Lots of flax seed recipes and after surgery I'll go back to my yoga and cardio. Slowly but surely. Good video.

@@sirs4878 I've been doing good actually. I can't eat spicy foods or it is an instant bathroom run. Rich foods seem to be the same way. I went vegetarian and white meats for the first month after the surgery while healing. Then slowly introduced other foods. The slow introduction really helped.
I did have a lot of heartburn in the beginning because my body was trying to figure out how to handle the extra acid so I recommend tums if you haven't gotten yours out.
As far as pain goes, I have phantom pains once in awhile but rarely. I feel so much better with it being gone.

No idea it was from my gallbladder removal until accidentally finding one of these videos. Finally i tried adding high fiber for weeks and my problems went away. When they return i do more fiber. But vitamin deficiency is taking its toll so i take a vitamin regime.
