I want to add one thing! If you have a driver license then go rent a car at the airport or book the car before flight. Then go on a road trip behind the Biokovo mountains and just explore. I spent a full day deep in there, I found castle ruins, the 2 water holes called blue and green lake, small towns and tragic views from the war where there's bombed houses and people moving back after the war to build their houses again. The nature in there is amazing too, and I went on a road trip from Podgora to Dubrovnik, and the shifting nature took the breath out of me! It was the most beautiful experience in my whole life.
First a drive through the coast line and then deeper in to the country, we ended up on a long street in the middle of the swamps where it felt like the rain forest or something and people where having stands selling fresh fruits on the side of the road. Well, I can't explain it in words and I wish I filmed it all :D I really recommend Croatia!

I would really love to visit Croatia if I had the money. I have roots there on my maternal grandmother's side. Even though I'm also Slovak (paternal grandparents) and Polish (maternal grandfather), I embrace my Croatian side the most, because I have many fond memories of growing up with my grandma and her brothers and sisters. I don't really remember any Croatian dishes (I had plenty of Slovak ones), but my grandmother taught me a few words. Of course these were in her later years, and I don't know the spellings or if they're 100% accurate, but she gave me zima (cold), deshpada (it's raining), and schnekpada (it's snowing).

TIP for traveling with a bus: they can take you to any part of the country for a really affordable price. Just check if the bus is taking a highway (in which case it’s not that long of a journey) or local roads (then it becomes quite a long one). If you travel from capital (Zagreb) to mid coastal area (Zadar, Šibenik) it will take your around 4 hours by highway. Enjoy your stay!

The best thing I saw in Croatia was Plitvice Lakes National Park, which is really amazing. Stay at the park, and go in at the first thing when it opens in the morning, and walk to where you can take a boat across the lake before it gets hot or crowded. It's wonderful. When you pronounce Plitvice, it should sound a bit like plitvITZA.

    Nice video, Mark!
    Just a couple of corrections:
0:29 Krk is a town on an island also named Krk. National park is called Krka. If you're buying a bus ticket online, you probably wouldn't want to mix the two :) (although visiting any of them will be worthwhile)
8:12 Pula has a Roman amphitheater, not a Colosseum. Colosseum is a proper name of one particular Roman amphitheater (of about twenty that survived the millennia), the one in Rome.

About drinking tap water yes on the main land it is very good and you don't need to buy bottled water but on the some island and some coast part don't do it buy a bottled.

We have been in Zagreb at the beginning of March and it was snowing constantly the whole weekend. The Zagrebians are not really prepared for that so most of the snow becomes slush. My advise is to bring good shoes at this time of the year.
What was good about Zagreb was the fashion shopping.

I moved back to San Francisco and it's funny that you mentioned about being sun burned. Cause When I got back, It literally smelted like burnt flesh. Like I was cooking inside is how it felt.

A note on the tourist languages, if you can't find an English speaker, look for a German speaker. I had an amazing time in Croatia! an unforgettable experience and I will be back as soon as possible.
