As a Slovenian, i highly recommend a visit to our beautiful country, maybe it’s not big but it’s full of things to do and see.
I am super scared it will eventually be ruined by mass tourism 😔😥
Reach triglav and go to the lowest point of our sea in a day
it's possible here
Have always wish to visit and get married to a guy from Slovenia 😊😊
@@curseditem8354 bi mogu met kr kondicije ce bi hotu pridet na vrh pa dol pa se še pelat na obalo😄

Slovenia. The perfect example that good things come in small packages. It's one of Europe's compact-sized gems.
Tipping is optional! Don't be pressured about it, nobody looks you in any kind of way if you just thank and greet farewells.
Agree. This is such an American thing that I laughed a bit when he mentioned it.
And the birds are very happy (apparently)!
Slovenia is by far my favourite country (and I've been lucky enough to go to the likes of Australia, Thailand, Mexico). An amazing country that has everything: gorgeous coast, lakes and rivers, mountains, nice cities and villages, all within easy driving distance!
From Tanzania 🇹🇿 East Africa, I v been in Slovenia 🇸🇮 its a beautiful country to visit.... With many many amazing places
sLOVEnia 🇸🇮❤
My wife and I spent two months in Europe in 2019, and Slovenia was by far our favorite!
5:16 we do not tip in Slovenia, unless you are at a very nice/ high-class restaurant. Maybe you round up your bill for a euro or two sometimes if you were very pleased with your service. I am Slovenian from Maribor, wich is the 2nd biggest city in Slovenia, with the oldest wine in the world. Very welcome to vist next time.
Locals never tip. Tourists tend to, however.
@@adavanja5682 And that's what is fu..ing us locals.
Thanks for saying this, I started to get a bit worried when I heard you had to tip 😂😂
I can't wait to make it to Slovenia. Too many times I have passed it up.
You will enjoy it
@@woltersworld thank you. your channel inspires me. :)
@@keithkurtzworldtravelandad6508 Hey Keith I was there in 1990 when it was still part of Yugoslavia and back then this region for me was a very unexpected hidden gem. The people, food and the cities were all really great but it was the nature that really won me over. Although now it seems to be 'discovered' from what I've seen it doesn't seem to be as crazy as what happened to Dubrovnik. You should go!!
I find that there seems to be a little gem in every place I have visited. I wanted to visit there a few times. I traveled nearby in Eastern Europe but found myself getting pulled off to a different country Georgia, Turkey, Ukraine. I wish I started making videos back then about all of my experiences. Cappadocia is just brilliant. Anyways tangent off. Slovenia and Poland, when things open up a bit more.
If you ever revise this video. I would add info about purchasing the car permit that is necessary to drive on the highways. Many European countries require them, and Slovenia is no exception. There is usually a place to purchase the permit at the first exit once entering the country. Some also offer it online. Check it out or you can pay a big fine. Slovenia is a great place to visit, though. In 8 weeks of European travel a couple of years ago, the 3 best meals we had were all in Slovenia!

Hi Vedran, how does Slovenia compare with Montenegro in terms of climate, nature and general living? Interested in visiting the Balkans this year!
@@SergioGarcia-cn2kd Slovenia is in general more expensive than Montenegro, Montenegro's natural beauty consists mostly of beaches, a lot of people from the Balcans choose Montenegro as a place to spend some days of the summer in because of their great beaches. In the other hand, Slovenia's natural beauty is mostly mountains, rivers and lakes. Montenegro also has its mountains but Slovenia is just miles ahead in terms of hiking (Slovenia is comparable to other traditional Alpine hiking nations, Austria, Switzerland, North Italy, and it is cheaper than all of them). In terms of climate, Slovenia is not precisely Mediterranean except for a couple of coastal cities, it is therefore a little colder and rainier than Montenegro, but also far greener in the spring/summer/fall. Hope that helps :)
@@jorgeeduardodussanvillanue46 This really helps, thanks. Will be in the Balcans very soon!
Tips: look it makes us really happy if you do it BUT we also wont care if you dont. We'd rather see a nice guest who is nice to the waitors and others than an annoying person that tipped. But yeah if you like the service give a big tip, itll make someones day but dont feel to bad if you dont or forgot to or something
Also we usually dont do it by percent in Slovenia, we just round up to the narest full number or something that makes it easy for the waitors to return the money
I'm going to Slovenia this summer I'm so excited!!.
Been there many times. It’s an awesome place.
I love your videos, I've never been to Slovenia, Slovakia yes. Beautiful. I want to go
Slovenia is great. Hiking near Triglav is amazing. The kocas are great places to eat in the hills. The trains are nice and clean. The dairy and honey are astounding, and the central market in Ljubljana is world-class for produce -- not quite the variety you'd find in Italy, but the quality is amazing. The people are super-great. I lived in a tiny village up north and bought fresh milk straight from my neighbor's cow -- best milk ever, anywhere. Oh, and the bicycle highway into Italy -- 'nuff said.
SLOVENIA IS BEAUTIFUL
As an Slovenian
We respect and like any visit that people came from other countrys across the world
Slovene is a Slavic language so anyone who's visited Poland, Czech Republic or Slovakia will pick up similarities in vocabulary. The same applies to other Balkan nations. Slovenia has one of the highest literacy rates in the world. For obvious reasons the locals won't expect a tourist to speak Slovene but knowing a few words and phrases is always appreciated. Although not in Slovenia Trieste has a Slovene legacy and is easily accesible. The border between Slovenia and its neighbours who are all EU states is non-existent these days.
Just a note, Slovenia is more expensive than what people would expect! But still definitely worth visiting 😍
Still cheaper than London 😁 It's not even that expensive, if you compare us to ex-yu countries than yes but if you compare us to Austria, Italy, Germany we are cheaper.
@@kikirowy Not true, the Netherlands is cheaper when you go shopping.
@@BlazVeber69 Netherlands is cheaper than what? Slovenia? 🤣🤣 I hope you're kidding, I went there and it was the most expensive country in Europe (not even close at that).
@@kikirowy For me, it was cheaper when I went grocery shopping in the Netherlands. Not speaking about living costs.
@@BlazVeber69 Accomodation, public transport, food, drinks, museums, sights are all extremely expensive in Amsterdam where I was. I went to a few grocery stores but the prices were basically the same as in Slovenia. They also have the same retail chain stores like Spar (which is a bit more expensive) and Lidl as in Slovenia and I didn't find their stores cheaper than ours.
I was in Slovenia last week - ABSOLUTELY loved this country.
Slovenia is on my list now. Looks amazing!

I would love to to visit this beautiful country. I am Irish and we have some similarities I think, being a small nation and traditionally Catholic.
Here is some thing you should know about Slovenia:
The whole video is just emotions and reactions, nice.. )
Magical country -- no masks, no virus!
Yeah, but there is a price tag attached: In the second wave, Slovenia had the most corona deaths in the world, calculated on the basis of the population: more than 1,600 people died of Covid-19 per million inhabitants. But that doesn't matter as long as it affects others, right?
Hello from slovenia friend. Wisit us again 😉😉😉😉

There’s a music festival in Tolmin I’ve wanted to go to for years. Maybe this video will be able to convince my wife 😉
If you mean Metal Days, I'm not sure they'll make through the pandemic years... www.metaldays.net/
So many festivals are in a tight spot now financially that I'm not sure how many of them will survive until '22... this virus is killing culture and social life as well... :-/
@@MetalTrabant I did indeed :|
To anyone who would want to come to Slovenija and speak slovne: Good luck! I did my first theree years of elementary education abroad before returning. The slovene classes were harsh. My grades on the subject took till high school to get to an acceptable level for me. Granted I am a native speaker and the level requierment was harsher, but just some of the basic grammar rules would probably make a total foreigner struggle a fair bit.
Slovenia has been on my list for so long. I really need to make a priority to see it soon!
Impressed by what I heard & saw here. I want to visit Slovenia. Might be a good starting/end place for a European trip. It is on my bucket list now.

Your visit can be ruined by bad weather tho.
It can really make or break your stay.
Otherwise an amazingly safe place to visit.
That is true for any country is it not? Most tourists come in the summer part of the year. If it rains you can always go to a museum.... there is no shortage of museums.... a novel idea I know....
The channel is very informative. I think you are among the very few that understand your assignments.
Planning o moving to this beauty of a place
Thanks!
Thank you!
We usually do not tip in SI...
love this video. is this really actually taken in april this year?planning to visit slovenia this week.
No. Pre covid
would like to know when we can travel to Europe from Los Angeles, CA
info doesn't seem to be too reliable from the usual sources
I've seen a lot of Americans here, so travel still exists.
Few Possibilities, if you were vaccinated against COVID, if you have medical info, that you had COVID within last 6 months, or via negative PCR test (max 48 hours old, cca 60-90€ in EU)
You can travel in EU from the US but not the other way around if not a US resident
interesting but was interested in what its like over there?
Slovenija od kje lepote tvoje 🇸🇮
I recommend to visit Udine Italy, nice culture & unique Italian food,
as a native Sloven....yea i can agree to most things....but yea English is taught in school so over time most people will know basic English....

We're balls deep in a lockdown
May I ask? What's the rules and regulations for those first time travellers?
i need to visit this place someday Is the summer best time to visit??
Summer is great, lots of sun, warm, you can swim in lakes, rivers, sea or can climb mountains where it is a bit fresher. All the terraces in cities are also open (well prior to Covid).
@@jbremc22 it’s still closed?
I wouldn't say that's entirely accurate. Ukrainian is still an eastern Slavic language which shares commonality with Russian and Belarusian (plus Ruthenian and Rusyn). I'm from L'viv, and know that western Ukraine was dominated by the Poles for a long time. Hence the somewhat bastardization of our language. No hate towards the Poles or Russians, but the latter are truly our native brothers and sisters, not the Poles.
Tipping is not mandatory in Slovenia. :)
How is Slovenia currently fairing re COVID?
Not well. Plus, the length of quaranteen depends on the type of vaccination you've had 😂
I'm not joking 😐
COVID?
How is life going on in Slovenia now please? Is it ideal?
It never was ideal, but it is still good enough...
The map at :28 shows Switzerland as part of France 😅
What are the regulations on travel now in april? Has anyone been there lately?
I live here and we just had a total lockdown, so checking up for embassy's website is definitely the best way to get information
