She shows enough prowess to receive Needle. She's sparring by the river on the trip to King's Landing & shows up Jeoffrey. All that is pre-Silvio. His instruction is an important part of her journey, but she was already on the way FROM THE FIRST MOMENT SHE MADE HER ENTRANCE. I'm sure her technique whilst sparring with Micah at the river was mostly just "try and hit them as hard as you can and not get hit yourself," with very little finesse. Third, I'm female. I'm also a feminist. So, your theory on me being biased against women is pretty impossible. It was a funny musing on how Ned had no idea she'd end up doing all she did, and how him doing what he did and getting her Syrio led her to everything else. Nothing else. I suggest you calm down.

I dont think that last one is true. After all, the motto of the Many-Faced-God is "All men must die", and the night king was a man that was made immortal.
NK is not Death. NK is the PERVERSION of death. So if anything, Arya carried out a will of the Many-Faced-God in bringing death to the one that defied/avoided it for so long.

Considering she's been training her entire life, they were fighting in her home of Winterfell, and it was less predictable than just have Jon Snow do it. Who else did you want to do it? Danny? NO. Jon? Boring. Sansa? Impossible. Bran? in what a staring contest? The only other secondary character that would've been cool and interesting is Jamie because of his redemption BUT he's going to get his shine in the 2nd half. Other than that it would've been dumb if Davos, Tyrion, Jorah, Gentry, The Hound, etc killed him.

Arya was the surprise of the series for me. Her character arc was one of the best I have seen anywhere.
Totally unexpected, with every action leading to one critical point that makes everything preceding it snap suddenly into a coherent, meaningful whole. Genius!

Sadly we didn't get to see her kill Cersei which was of course what should have happened in the HBO series, will be interesting to see if Martin chooses that as part of the endgame for the novels.

Jeez. The foreshadowing that she would end it.... In the books, she was promised to one of the Freys as a princess (when Robb was King of the North), as part of the terms for him crossing the Twins using Frey's bridge. That makes her a princess who was promised. Just not anything close to what most would think with the prophesy, since that mention was so one-off compared to Jon and Daenerys.
And her whole arc was learning many things- determination, perseverance, cunning, deception, observation, etc. She was the one who had the training in combat. Her arc is overcoming adversity. A major part of it is that honorable combat only works if you are on equal footing and the other person is honorable themselves. She learns something most of the others in the setting ignore in combat- the usefulness of fighting dirty, especially in an existential crisis.
Jon had training to become a leader, not to win the battle. His arc is about leadership- knowing when to be strong and when to bend. When to listen and when to forge your own path despite those under you disagreeing. He is honorable, and that's fine for morale and leading a group. But he is too honorable to win in a battle against a being who does not care about honor, just genocide.

It's a good point about her being the princess that was promised because she actually was promised. Whereas if the prophecy is were referring to its own prediction of there being a princess, the whole notion of promising is kind recursive and also unnecessary.

My only qualm about the episode is the multitude of tactical errors done by the defenders of Winterfell as for how dark it is I find consolation on the fact that the presence of the WWs will always certainly brings darkness and storms along with them as we see in Hardhome plus the battle of Winterfell happened at night which makes it even darker than Hardhome which happens during noontime. It is a good episode to watch, yes but to me it would never top the Battle of the Bastards or Hardhome in my book and overall to me Helm's deep still holds the title as the longest and most epic battle ever depicted on television so far.

Did she fly from a tree, they ask incredulously? Others wonder how she could have gotten from the room she was in previously or past a wall of Wights and White Walkers. Well,...first, various maps of Winterfell show that if she were in the library (which she was at one point), then ran down a hall to another room (which she did), it would have placed her in a room that backed up agains the wall surrounding the Godswood. In other words, she was already close to the Godswood when the Red Witch sent her on her way. Next, it has been stated that the Starks built secret passageways in Winterfell so that the inhabitants could escape if the castle were overrun. Having grown up there, she would have known nearly every inch of this place, including the best, most secretive way to enter the Godswood from where she was. In fact, it's very likely she quietly ran cat-like (she spent enough time chasing cats in King's Landing) along the surrounding wall to the most advantageous spot to enter the Godswood. Arya had probably been in that enclosure thousands of times before--she knkows it well; the Walkers did not--in sports and war, home advantage is everything. Finally, if you stop the various NK Kill videos at the moment they go to a wide bird's eye view after the kill, it shows the whole Godswood area. The Wights and Walkers stepped back to open a pathway (on the left) for the NK as he approached Bran--in this bird's-eye shot, that open pathway is still there. In a quick burst (revealed by the one White Walker's hair subtly blown by a gust of wind), she bolted past the walkers & toward NK. But what about the "airborne" attack? Easy--for a gifted, if only partially trained, assasin. (And yes, she is gifted from early on in the show. Possibly, of all the Stark children, she best inherited her father's physical skills.) At any rate, a small attacker knows she would need the advantage of surprise and height against a bigger, more powerful opponent. So, again looking from the bird's-eye view, directly in her path toward the NK (who would have been standing right in front of where she is now kneeling) is a fire pit surrounded by fairly large boulders. It's a silent sprint, a big push-off from one of those big boulders, and you're launched a few feet in the air. The rest...well,...is in the final kill video. Not illogical.

Arya is so satisfying as a character arc because she is the Stark's vengence. She's the Stark who says "fuck it, no more" and "not today", she fights dirty, she doesn't care much about honor, and she gets things done without fanfare or politics.
She saw her father and her brother dead bodies, so she had to leave Arya Stark behind and learn to be no one. And then she chose to be a Stark again, but in her own badass way.

she is more than capable to bested anyone, jon, jamie, the hound, brienne etc because she’s trained to assassinate, not fighting only. And she did just that, effective one strike kill, no one on that battlefield is more skilled than arya to pull that off
