  • This larger RC Toy is very slow out of the box. Time for a well deserved upgrade.
    In the near future I'll make it brushless. Meanwhile....
    After buying these you can use them on other cars as well. And Congratulations, You will have officially joined the hobby.
    1.This is for 3S with Motor Swap Mod (WARNING Do Not Use 3S if you don't change the motor. Something WILL BURN UP!! Either the ESC, the motor or even both. The motor is just too small.)
    Hobbywing 1080 Brushed ESC With Program Box LED www.amazon.com/dp/B07GV7WBY4/...
    This is for 2S Without Motor Swap - YoungRC 30A ESC Brushed ESC www.amazon.com/dp/B07MX3514Y?...
    2. MG996R Metal Gear Servo - www.amazon.com/dp/B08XQN5BZ4?...
    3. Flysky RC FS-GT2B Radio Set www.amazon.com/dp/B08NH4PBLC?...
    4. URGENEX 3.7v Lipo Batteries 600mAh with JST Plug 1S Li-Po Battery with X5 Battery Charger
    You can pick another battery type if you choose or bigger. but this basically what I'm working with.

    5.EBOOT 20 AWG JST Plug Connector 2 Pin Male Female Plug Connector Cable Wire for LED Lamp Strip RC Toys Battery, 10 Pairs www.amazon.com/dp/B01M5AHF0Z/...
    This is for making a 2S or 3S Connector for your 1S Batteries to work in line together and to replace the connector on the ESC for power.
    6. A Transmission From New Bright 9.6V Dune Rebel RC Buggy For this part, just about any 1/12 New Bright RC rated for 9.6V will work, preferably a buggy or truck. They'll have a 260 Motor instead of the smaller 130. The truck I pulled this one from is no longer made or sold on shelves. Thrift stores and garage sales are good treasure hunts.
    This part is actually very important for a real performance change the small stock motor is just too small for the cars size and torque requirements. The bigger 260 "D" motor helps alot.

      It's a motor rated for 9.6v. Still nothing compared to hobby grade, but for those that have one and know its slow,this is a great mod to pickup the pace. Brushless motors are still faster, and I'm looking for one to fit this car.

    Can you please put in the description what esc, servo, battery with links on amazon? Also where, and what vehicle did the other transmission come out of. That would be awesome. Thanks

    Is it the same size as any of the Arrma 1/8 scale cars

    • @backtothetrackgarage8790
      @backtothetrackgarage8790  Před 2 lety +1

      It is... but no where near as fast, but technically lighter. For this car I've only increased power to 3S and did a stock brushed motor swap. It could be capable of more but would be missing alot of features the Arma one can do nor could withstand the road or impacts well because it doesn't have a suspension system. But I'm sure an RC Hobbyist could totally make it happen if they wanted to, just to say they did it. Although your money, if it matters, would be better put towards a hobby grade model for availability of parts and upgrades. If you have the passion for a car, like youtubers converting Hotwheels to mini rc cars, then I can understand the tedious process of making your own parts. In the end you have one seriously custom hobby ride that no one could have at the track. (Your local one if you have one.) At my track, no single car is at all the same as anyone else's. Everyone has done something custom, and if you can't do it, a hobby shop will have a reasonable price to do it for you the right presentable way. I'd be glad to showcase any mods you may have in mind to try out, to save yourself time, money, and irreversible damage. I choose to work on these type of cars (Toy vs Hobby grade) for the challenge and the result. My Traxxas Rustler can hit 60+ MPH on 3S. You don't have to commit to an Arma if you wanna go fast, plus there is the track space issue on the larger cars. 1/10 is the general goto scale, having the largest range of parts nationwide. Not many people can afford a 1/8 so parts may be an issue.

      Oh I see, lol, yea I suppose it could work, I can measure the wheel base when I get home.

    • @backtothetrackgarage8790
      @backtothetrackgarage8790  Před 2 lety +1

      The Wheel base is 8.5 inches wide, then 13 inches from axel to axel and each wheel well is 3.5 inches in diameter. (Just in case for anyone else out there I mean 1/2 when I put .5 )

    I have a quick question I'm hoping you can help me out with. I can't seem to find any answers anywhere. My son got this exact same car for Xmas from someone and loves it. After using it for less then 10 minutes it's already broke.
    It will only move on it's own at certain times. If we push the stick to make it go, nothing. No noise or anything but if we nudge the car it will slowly take off and drive fine, albeit a little slower then it should. It seems like the rear end is getting locked up at certain times. Sometimes it will go without pushing the car and sometimes it won't.
    Any help you could give me would be highly appreciated.

      @backtothetrackgarage8790  Před 2 lety +1

      Definitely a bad motor. This motor has thin copper tabs making contact with the rotor, when one breaks it loses proper timing and gives you the effect of needing to push it to get it going. Now they have worn completely away from the rotor. The original motor is a 6V 20,000Rpm "130" size motor. Aside from soldering on the wires (they can be looped and tied.) It's an easy motor swap. There are motors out there with carbon tipped brass tabs for higher volts, better heat dissipation, and 5X longer life.

      @@backtothetrackgarage8790 I got one for the kids they want me to upgrade it , and other upgrades for more speed / different tires ? New to rc myself / is it any way possible to sync a different controller instead of joystick & can I still be able to use the sounds/ lights etc

    • @backtothetrackgarage8790
      @backtothetrackgarage8790  Před 2 lety +1

      @@KSIxBluntRoller The 1st cheapest upgrade is a motor swap, although that size motor being popular among the Mini-z Fans is normally hard to find. www.amainhobbies.com/kyosho-xspeed-motorv-2.4ghz-kyomzw301/p-quqvqqrqbczxactz?gclid=Cj0KCQiAq7COBhC2ARIsANsPATFZxkRHF4EvRh4QiQVB_YLu-1q_XJNpGun0-6Ms6Hjd7m-s5pVjgnsaAlvuEALw_wcB
      Swapping the controller will require a hobby grade electronics swap, and doing so will take away your sound for sure but your lights can be wired with a hobby kit to fully function and add brake lights. They do sell hobby sound boxes too to mimic any car engine type.

    hi so I have the same scale model for the c8 and it worked fine but I need to know what size if the gear that is connected to the motor because mine started to strip and I don’t want the gear to get worse then it’s started. Car works and can reach full speed but launch and stopping from driving reverse causes a loud cranking strip sound so would it be fine if you possibly made a video for the gears and what sizes they are?

    • @backtothetrackgarage8790
      @backtothetrackgarage8790  Před 2 lety

      Oh yea the happens when the screws are loose or missing. I'm not at home at the moment but, So you know, if you find any smaller or equal size "New Bright" rc it should have the same identical gear inside. That's how I got my second one for the front differential box for the second motor.

    • @iantorres1473
      @iantorres1473 Před 2 lety

      So I’ve been trying to look for an identical gear because my parents won’t get me a new one with the same scale, do you know any places I can get the same or very identical gear from? It’s my second new bright C8 as I had another one before but the same happened just worse. And I have a C7 newbright same scale with same gears just also stripped. It’s my favorite RC and the last one I can get so please if you can get me the information on the gear please.
