Other than the audio recording's effects it sounds like what Foley editors used for the sound effects on Squad 51 on "Emergency!" I heard they put the siren on manual and looped it. It sounds like another siren I heard on TV.

The siren used in Mad Max is a LTS siren with dual tones, I don't know why he made that comment.

The car might have been a 1961 model, but these electronic sirens were introduced in the late 60's and gained popularity in the 70's

put the selector switch between tones and it gives you two more sounds. We used to be able to make them do songs.
