  • Federal Signal Corporation, Electronic Siren, Model Pa-20A Series 2E. Great vintage siren from the 1970's. Used on a Boston fire apparatus of the time.

I LOVE the sound it made when you switched it from Manual to Wail. The glitch before the wail sounded so classic. Reminded me of some of those old movies with the old police cars chasing the bad guy.

Best electronic siren ever made. Probably the last model you could "play with" in between tones.

The most distinctive sound of first responders. Everything else sounds like toys,or worse, vibrators.

FINALLY!! Someone who just lets the siren play, instead of fucking about blipping the tones. Thank you.

En Venezuela América del Sur, una empresa privada de ambulancias, importó de Estados Unidos varias ambulancias Cadillacs en los años 70´s y venían equipadas de serie con esa sirena, el sonido es inconfundible, muchas gracias por recordar esa época.

I use to use that 4th tone between wail and yelp all the time and it seemed to clear traffic much better. I guess it was the pitch? There was not a slot on the selector for it, you just had to feel around until you got just right.

Do you still have the siren speaker that is shown in this video? It is a Whelen model that I’ve been looking for to complete an old crossbar that I have. If you still have it, I’d be willing to buy it, or trade for a chrome CP 100 made by Federal. Please let me know. Thanks.
