Quintrex Renegade 420 SC + Yamaha F40 4-Stroke boat review

  • The Quintrex Renegade 420 is the most popular boat in Australia for a reason! It's the best riding, best performing and softest riding 4.2m boat you can get!
    Paired with the ever popular Yamaha F40HP 4-stroke, a favorite within the 4.2m market, pushes the boat along very nicely with a quick plane speed.
    Just look how well the boat handles chop! The water is deflected outwards and away from the boat. It's the driest ride you will ever have in a 4.2m boat! Aaron was trying to get water in the boat but couldn't!

    Great review!!! I bought one about 3 months ago and love it!! Out of interest, what pitch prop did you have on that Yamaha 40 hp? I have a Suzuki 50 hp 4 stroke on mine and it has an 11 and 5/8th inch prop with 12 inch pitch and when I cruise at 5,500 rpm and trim it up I'm only getting about 35 km/h. I would like to increase my cruising speed and I'm interested in the pitch of the prop you were using to get a higher top speed. Love your videos - keep up the good work!!

    Would you recommend the tiller steer model over the Side Console

    • @BrisbaneYamaha
      @BrisbaneYamaha  Před 7 lety +3

      It entirely depends on your situation, if you're planning on cast netting or dropping a few crabpots, then the TS would be better due to the room, if you want more comformt or are going longer distances, a SC would be more suitable, as an example.

      I lived near Australia zoo 20 years ago and my son wanted to go every weekend
      I saw Steve do the same show a dozen times and in those days it was up close a few metres apart
      Every week the lawn mower would get attacked by old grumpy the croc
      And every week my son Hayden would get a surprise
      And Steve would say the same words
      Steve would walk around the zoo talking to people and recognise my son with kind words or a knowing look
      Steve told me there always new guests and the repeat guests expect the same show

    Why is it earthed to the hull? 5:44 Would have thought you should isolate all electronics from the Alloy hull?

    • @BrisbaneYamaha
      @BrisbaneYamaha  Před 4 lety +2

      This is a common question and one that does a lot of people’s heads in
      Quintrex void you’re warranty if you remove it because they believe the outboard earths the hull and having the batteries earthed to the hull reduces the chance of materials failure
      Telwater are one of the largest manufacturers of alloy boats in the world so I think they know more than use and it’s been done for years

    Would you recommend this boat for a first-timer?

    • @BrisbaneYamaha
      @BrisbaneYamaha  Před 5 lety +4

      The 420 Renegade is the most registered boat model in Australia and very suitable for first time boater. The size is manageable by one person which is important for beginners and the Renegade is a very forgiving model.

      That said I don’t think I’ve ever seen or heard of a yamaha f40 breaking down ever
