- This car has popped up a few times in background of a videos. Seems to of struck a cord with ya and I wanted to bring you guys up to speed with my plans on it.
A base model 1957 2 door post known as a "Black Widow" has always been such a cool iconic car in my mind. So when a 4 door version came up for sale I decided to jump on it. Now a real black widow was a 150 model, with a fuel injected 283 and truck 6 bolt hubs.
I will be doing my own take on this fine hot rod.
2 door it? - Ofcourse!
Full floor pan? Is there any car that doesn't need a full floor pan?
Ls swap it for ultimate reliability? I think so!
So let me know what you guys think of this project? would you like to see it sooner rather than later?
Thanks for watching! Don't forget to click the bell.

When I was younger.( I'm 37 now and handicapped)when I was physically able to I had your energy and enthusiasm I worked 12-14 shifts 6 days a week plus still had fun working in the shop. I like watching you because I love your positivity. Keep on keeping on. I enjoy your content
Thanks for support Ryan! Stay well.my friend
@@DDSpeedShop you deserve all the CZcams support you get
Well that would be a cool little series on how to build a Dan correct two door conversion .
Do it Dan! ‘57‘s are so beautiful.... a Black Widow would be a fun build
Sounds like a great project and series of videos. Looking forward to watching.
Go ahead and start the 57 soon, Dan.
Great plan on doing step by step video's on 4 door to 2 door conversion.
I love the plan!! Rock on the 57 as soon as you can!!! Can't wait!!
Be waiting for that, black widow yes please.
Ah finally my favorite car the Black Widow. Do a little history for folks on what one is.
Yeah once it comes home
@@DDSpeedShop love this project but... what about the hot rod ford?
Look forward to new project.
Sounds like a Great Plan! 👍
Bonus points for horn ring!
Am I the only one that loves a 4 door classic!!!!😭💗
Love my 55 210 four door!
Looking forward to the 2dr swap on that 57 !! Yeah do it Soon , Good Vid ,🖒
DD doin a 57? No way... im so surprised... did not see that coming at all 😂✊
I'm all in on the Black Widow tribute. Should be fairly easy for you, because it's already the right color. Finding a 283 sbc shouldn't be too difficult. But finding the Rochester fuel injection unit won't be so easy. That would give you the 283ci/283hp. The 1st engine to put out 1 horsepower per cubic inch. Or you could always go with the dual 4 barrel intake from 1957, and make it a nice 270hp car. Thanks for entertaining us. Looking forward to the next one.
Dani's '57 4 door conversion was the video series that hooked on your channel. It would be great to see this one converted to two door.
That's what starting us watching him too
How about doing the Model A to change things up!
I'm down as long as it's got a Mopar engine not enough people put Mopar engines in street rods
Oh come on Dan is the tri five man a Model A is like a alien to the tri five man
@@chuckstith838 somebody already did that once it lasted two or three days
Can't wait to see this build!
I like the Black Widow idea as a second choice for this car as it’s already really cool as built. It’s a very unique car as is, Probably a pretty rare combination. I would have a hard time cutting this one, but it’s your show and I keep coming back so I must like what you are doing. I would be interested in the side glass for my four door if it’s in decent shape.
Ok, Imma help you out buddy. I like the variety of your projects, been following them all. You’ve mentioned lots of cool things you want to do in previous videos. So here’s a list of what I can remember, in the order I’d like to see them.
1. Make Longroof ready for road trips this summer.
2. Make the ‘56 and Challenger sale ready. Put cash in bank, or buy something cool.
3. “Black Widow” 2-door daily conversion
Knowing your work rate that should take us to Summer, now tune up the little things on the rest of your fleet.
4. Fix airbag leak and possible water damage (lol) on the ‘47, plus anything else it may need.
5. Seats, exhaust and rattles on Dani’s ‘57
6. Re-radius and whatever else to your ‘55
7. Cobra
8. Nova
Id be happy to see them in any order, plus by then you’ll have the Pontiac and the Gremlin and some other cool shit to start. Keep up the great work! Jay from Alberta
Looking forward to that series
Sounds like an awesome plan. Can't wait till you get started on it. Now that would make an awesome give away for sure. 😁👍👍
Hahaha
Can't wait . Love the 2 door conversion videos!!!
Thanks man
Definitely! Let’s get started on that Black Widow! I’m excited for you to have a nice daily driver!
Yes I really want to see you do the 2 door conversion on the black widow 57 I hope you do it soon
Absolutely.....another 2 door conversion Black Widow 🔨🔧👍👍👍
I’d like to see you tackle this one with a lot of detailed videos. The little details help us newbies!
Who else would build a 57 but the guy who has them all. You definitely have the floor replacement down. Thats really what gets those cars back on the road. Seems you have the floor pan suppliers also. "A great business" would be just that. Dans Classic Floors would need a shop.
You have restored some nice rides while I've been watching.
Yes do the 150 soon. I love that car.
Yeah I really dig it
No matter what projects you do, your talent will always reward you. Looking forward to see this 57 cut up and put back together.
Awesome 👍🏾👍🏻 and it's just needs Murv to polish it, winded steels rim's painted white , gold or red ??? But anyway it will be cool ride, and you get them cheap and fix them at a reasonable cost , that's awesome 👍🏾👍🏻
I made the suggestion back in the Dec. 2020 video to do a 4 door black widow, just need the fulie emblems and white steel wheels, I believe the originals had 15" 6 lug wheels, no hub caps. Install a LT1 or LS and make it a real fulie.
Yes Do another 2 door conversion give us a little motivation for our projects!
I know which video we need to see...
The video where you add a Bay or two to your garage 😊
I am sure he is thinking the same thing. 🤓
Really like the idea of a small block in the new project. Looking forward to seeing how you turn it into a two door.
Can't wait to see it, will be a killer daily hot rod! My brother whos in Austin texas is working on a 57 belair. Will have a 500 horse 383 stroker and a 4l80 trans i believe. Gotta luv the tri 5's, 55 is my favorite year! Keep up the hard work and cool hot rods coming!!
Headliner for Dani!!! :)
Absolutely we want to see the Black Widow!
Personally I'd love if you kept the 6 lug setup, though I'm sure that might be a headache. Could source some sweet Detroit Steel Wheels with 6 lug pattern though!
It would be pricey but damn cool!
@@DDSpeedShop Sounds like every idea I have for a build 😅
Perfect 57 for a daily.
Looking fowards to watching your builds. Glad you are going to show more step by step conversion. But the black widow chevies had fixed rear windows in back with no seat. Build it and I watch. That is how I get my fun at watching your Hard Labor. Never disappointed
Do things at YOUR pace and desire. That will be a great build. Black Widows are very cool as you well know.
Tie up the loose ends on the wagon and Satellite, then dive in on the '57. Would like to see six lug wheels, as that's the detail that's always overlooked.
I think that would be awesome to see you do the Black widow sooner than later. I am ls swapping my Chevy 1957 this summer. Thanks for all you do !
Absolutely, can't wait to see this project built..
Would love to see you do the Black Widow conversion on this 57 Chevy! Love your channel, best to you both and the pups! 👍
Big Dan your the man. Love the idea for the LS. I have a 55 2dr sedan and those are my plans eventually. I hope I can come along for the ride and learn about the fuel system, fitment, etc. can’t wait. High kick!!!!
This car is just cool all by itself, i love the glass in this ride. Shes is just plain cool
Yeah I really dig it
Sounds great, Dan. Very cool!
That is one of the hood ideas for the interchangeable hood concept. Except mine had a bend for the intake
Awe Yes,My Favorite PU
Cant wait too see this one get restored
Definitely want to see the full details on the 4 to 2 door conversation videos!
That car looks so totally cool just sitting there the way it is! Awesome project! Nailing it again Mr Dan!
After checking out what the Black Widow is that would be awesome. Watching your work in the two door conversion is awesome to.
Nice showcase.
Hi Dan , never heard of a Black widow 57 Chevy from the factory, so it will be good to see you build one, thanks for the information .
Fantastic DAN, finally we get to see DANI,go Beserk with a case(24) cans of Matt Black Rattle cans!
I had to look up the Black Widow. Awesome car. This will be one of your best builds ever, probably the best build of your life. I know you want to do a ratty rod but if you're going to drive it all year you need to go the extra mile and prepare it right for the salt and the cold. Insulate the entire car with dynamat. Take the time to POR15 the entire chassis and frame. Get some inner wheel wells from the junkyard and adapt them in to protect the car. Do not leave it looking ratty, leave it looking like it's a 7-10 year car; the paints a bit faded signs of wear and tear but overall still a great car that's very drivable.
If done right I think this build will be a game changer for Canadian and US Rust Belt Hotrodders. I think with your practical approach to building cars that you're going to nail it. Can't wait to watch it come together!
Yeah im not sure how this one will go haha. But I am excited
How can you not know how it will turn out? Aren’t you the guy building it? It’ll turn out how you decide it should turn out.
DD, you've got me hooked already! Of course I like 'em shiny but the mechanics you describe sound great. But for safety sake do at least front disk brakes. An Aunt of mine owned a 2 tone black & white '57 Bel-Air (with some gold trim bits as I remember as a little kid) ages ago on Vancouver Island (Nanaimo); and she used pack 5 or 6 kids into it and take us bowling! I remember it was so "safe" there they never locked their doors, and always left the keys in the '57 so they wouldn't forget where they put 'em. Maybe you can do that here!
I can never watch enough tri five videos. Keep them coming, one day i will own one and love to work on mine.
2 door Black Widow would be awesome!! Hope you do a t-shirt for it too!
Spring time in the prairie (cold!) provinces. And hot rods. Nothing like it. Cheers from Alberta!
I think this would be a July kick off project. Take you up to the fall and done before winter 🥶
Totally agree
keep the great work man
Straight axel or raised spindles? Definitely Gasser Style. Fender well headers, 6.0 LS, 4 speed, flip spring perches to top of axel and gasser wheels. Let’s have a vote on it. Keep the heater and Dani.lol
Hell yeah !!! Save as many of these cars that you can👍 Two door conversion without a doubt
Yes!😃
Sounds great to me.
Could be a little contest, in some way, with the surfer Dude🏄🏼♂️🦈...😉
Take care
Great idea! I like it.
Go for it, love it when you do tri 5 stuff...
Love a Black Widow and a beater one would be awesome.
A very accurate clone but with the beater/survivor look including the 6 lug setup may throw some people for a look when they see it. You might give some tri 5 resto guys heart attacks lol especially when you open the hood and there’s an LS in there
Step by step 4 conversion is a must
Sweet!
"I keep tri-five floor pans in stock" lol.
Of course I don't have to deal with Canadian winters, but my stock 55 with a carbureted engine and points ignition just starts right up and goes whenever I want it too. No LS conversion required.
Sic em Dan !
I will be fine with what ever you start next...always fun to watch.
Man o man, i cant wait to watch those videos. Thank you
I never get tired of 2 door conversions, Do it Dan im running outta shit to watch.. Your in my line up i depend on you dude👊🏻
Great project idea Dan.
The original Black Widow had six bolt front brakes and spindles from an airport limo which are made of unobtanium.
Don't get hung up on the six bolt wheels-just make it your way.
Dan, I'm getting used to the 4 door to 2 door conversion bit. If you don't, then another '57 Chevy would just sit in a field and rot away. PLUS, you have a VERY good handle on how to do this surgery.....
Black Widow was my first comment about this car as I recall.
HAVE AT IT!!!!!!
Patina correct? You're not painting and polishing? (just kidding Dan,, I'm cool with your builds!)
As you’ve seen, I’m a Mopar dude but I love the tri 5 stuff and I haven’t seen the conversion 👍👍👍👍👍
I am definitely on board with a black widow 57, expecially if it's getting driven as a daily in winter!
I'll watch whatever you put out.. Been digg'ng the Mopar builds too. A walk thru reminder on those other projects in the field would be cool too.
Danni, no worries! It's all good!
Be well..
Black widow will be sweet. I hope you do six lug axles and a crazy ls intake. I don’t know if they make a ramjet style but that would be awesome
Surprised that a young bloke knows what a black widow was. Go for it Dan. I enjoyed watching you do the other car.
I think you should work on getting the other Hot Rods ready for the year. Some spring tune up advice and checklist when pulling vehicles out of storage. Would be cool!
Yeah thats coming up for sure!
Show the conversion to a 2door. That never gets old watching the transformation!
I’d like to watch another 2 door swap, I imagine you learned a little now from the previous one so should be able to give a little more detail this time and the roll up windows would be a big plus.
fixing your fleet sounds good, looking forward to see black widow.
Would love to see a big block fastback mustang or fairlane build! Love the metal fab! Would also like to see you do a project to the nines even if you had to work trade the paint and body work out!? Ps get off the street it's no place to be!! Unless were talking light to light no neighbors is were its at!
You guys are productive!
Can’t wait for the black widow build but I say go with your original idea and fix some some issues with Dani’s 57. I say tilt column with column automatic shifter and bench seat Dani’s 57. Make it easier and safer for both of you to drive and she can see over dash better. Maybe some new sound deadener on the inside of roof to reduce noises and a headliner. Then we can see some awesome black widow videos.
Yeah a little love here and there would make a nice hotrod fer sure
Dan, I'm ALWAYS up for a tri-five build!!! I could NEVER afford one, I enjoy your channel!!!!
Have to admit that the tri five is growing on me. I would own one now as to passing on them before. I was raised on fords and internationals. That an a occasional ride in a ambulance. We had a 55, 56, and 57 Packard Clippers. One fine ride as it had enough oil ride shocks and stuff to make you quite comfy.... Oddly The owner of those cars loaned one to my dad as logging trucks don't normally do funerals and so all of us kids in back seat setting on those metal tables with slippery cushions and off we went..... down the old roads of them days and cars in front of us would pull over to let dad by then see us kids in the back and they would give the old man the bird. So your not a truck guy or they waved too much money in front of you for the C/K10 and now headliners are just in the way of hauling parts. Course you have the company pickup fits in with a million other driver rigs, that would haul a model A frame or other that doesn't fold well. Its my own opinion that since your known for the trifive builds, it would turn some real youtube coin as they still command a large audience of people who from all ages love them. As far as that goes even the 74 challenger would do a healthy audience. I want you to have a decent shop before I tip over and trust me that days a coming when you all can say glad that long winded old bastard is juice for the termites. Its a nice ride that your in now but the headliner needs to go whether you replace or not.
Cool! Looking forward to this. Honestly it's too deep for me to even try but it sure is cool to watch.
Cool build ideas, but I'd like to see the 47 in the garage next!
I wish I had the welding skill and balls to do a 4 to 2 door conversion
Like the Trifive material...not a fan of the 2 door conversion so much (I like to keep it as it is, but that's not my call - lol). Still... keen to see you otherwise work on this Black Widow!
Dan you have got the source of six lug axle. Maybe off a newer Chevy truck period and then weld on the knuckles in the front so that you have six lug front disc brakes as well.
