- so stoked I was given the opportunity to ride the F-One Eagle X 800 foil & 4.5m Swing wing for a few sessions in the past week. unfortunately there wasn't a lot of wave opportunities but I was determined to ride some bumps, so I drove to Rhode Island in search of swell to pair with these fine F-One products, and I ended up finding the stoke I was looking for. I didn't ride these enough to do a full review, but comments at the end after 4 sessions.
HUGE thanks to my friend Steven for taking the drone footage. Always accepting applications for drone-flying interns đđđ

gear ridden this sesh:
4.5m F-One v4 Swing wing
Eagle X 800 foil
80cm mast
145dw tail XXXS
75L v1 Armstrong FG board
Kaohi double coil grip leash & padded belt (board leash)
Great video, great gear! Might be biased on both though đ€Ł
Thanks Andrew!! Your in bias is totally acceptable đđ You try the Eagle X on any DW experiences yet? Iâm curious about that 1000.
Great report, thanks
dude got to get the mid length
On it! I ordered one a few weeks ago, hopefully in the next week or so đ€
I have touched the new handles 2 days ago and they are bomb đđ€
Oh no way!! That gets me stoked. I think Iâm a few weeks they will be able to send me a wing with handles. Prolly one of the CWCs. So stoked to try them!!
Thanks bud, I wish you an awesome day!!
Hi Jeremy! I had the x 800 under my feet for just 15 min. And even in lightest winds (I had an 8qm) it was awesome. I had the same impression about the speed. It felt like 5mph plus in base speed. But still very stable. But well. Got to check it again. Rail to rail wasnât comparable to my sk8. But the glide was insane. The winglets still scare me to hell. And once you lose them you wonât sell the wing at a decent price. Thatâs a pitty. Have fun man!
Sweet you got to try it! I would def want at least one in my quiver, mostly for the speed and glide. Iâd love to try a sk8 and one of these kinda back-to-back to feel the difference. I like them both but Iâd love to know what one Iâd gravitate to these days if I had to pick one.
I hope yr season is going well bud! Full send and I wish you an awesome weekend!$
There are many people chopping them off on the regular eagle versions and report no much difference in performance and in some ways the improved aspect is it âvibratesâ less when passing through the white wash
legend :) you are thx for great feedback re the dreamy float y swing when on wave - I def going to upsize the wing size for juice thx for that input - I am on the duotone so def feel the hard handles do add an extra like your cabrinha wing tests vibe.. My hand also slipped on the f-ones ...so will be interesting to see the fone hard handles in action thx bud - have a wonderful week
Sup bud! The 4.5m is a hard size to judge when underpowered. It is super light, and better than the v3 that had a really heavy trailing edge. Iâm still against the load diffuser, it seems that alone has killed its drift but the v4 load diffuser is def smaller. Stoked to try the new handles! Sounds like they can send me some in July, so stay tuned for more! Thanks always for the comment, I wish you an awesome rest of your weekend!
I've graduated out of the pond LOL.....Hope to see you out there soon, Rich said you don't come down here much in the summer which is totally understandable with the crazy traffic. Maybe meet in Rhode Island. Until next time, keep having fun!!
Yes!!! Iâll make it down soon to wing with both of you. Iâm due for a Hardingâs session⊠itâs been years!
Had one session on the EagleX 700, and it was insane. Coming from a Eagle 790 as my daily driver, the EagleX took just a little more to get going, but not much.
The wing really shined in the swells, I was outrunning bumps super easy so could just keep going. When I was powered up I could probably just keep pushing the foil for more speed.
If you can get your hands on one, deff try it out.
Sup bud!! I totally agree, the thing shines on swell. And I didnât have anything besides wind swell but it put a smile on my on my face. Must be sweet for some fast and larger groundswell. Iâd prolly want that 700 in my wing quiver. I bet itâs pretty fun to turn on more powerful waves. Let me see what I can do Iâll I maybe be able to try a smaller size. Thanks bud, I wish you an awesome weekend!!
I started using my smaller foil (still large) after seeing you on 800s and its been great! Moved from a 1650ma/surf? to 1350ma and I've progressed so much even after one session. I was worried it was going to be hard to get up, especially inland where its usually 9kt/30kt gust - but It seems the larger foils I have can act as brakes sometimes and this just pumps up like nothing. Cant wait to try smaller foils like this one.
Sweet! Not all foils are the same but most newer foils seem to have potential for more of us to have fun at smaller sizes. The new Armie HAs I ride have a lot of lift, these Eagle HAs have more speed⊠so thereâs always a give and take but in general, smaller is always more fun if you can make it work! Stoked you are moving down in size, and I loved MA wings cause they kinda have a little of everything. Hoping all is well, and I wish you an awesome weekend!!
Be interested to hear a bit more about the swing. Based on what you said it doesnât sound like a massive step forward. Would the origin still be your pick? Iâm on strike v3s and was initially disappointed after v2. Then I got used to them but was half looking for an upgrade. Now though, a year they have sort of stretched into a new wing that I like way more. Inflated to just 7.5 to 8 psi theyâre like more powerful, softer v3 but still with better top end, upwind and flagging than a v2.
It's better than the v3, but I only had 2 or 3 sessions on that one as well. they reduced the size of that heavy load diffuser in the trailing edge, so it has a little better drift in light winds but I feel the v2 was better. I think I'd lean towards the Swing but I'd love to try them back-to-back. I think the Origin is the lightest and cheapest so those are huge factors to me. And it feels more like a v1 or v2 Strike. I could be happy with either! I rode my 5.5m v3 Strike the other day, it's still super annoying running over those wingtips in lighter winds. and the canopy is so loose, it's def a different wing than it was when I got it but I don't love it's direction. I think they are getting better though! I'd give the v4's a chance. demo one if you can!
@@OCEANBOUND1 oh ill definitely try them. To be honest im glad progression is slowing down a touch and you donât absolutely have to be on the latest gear. Iâve been surf foiling since gofoil Kai days and itâs been for years now that itâs absolutely critical to have the latest gear. It was almost like you were wasting your time if you didnât have it. Itâs kinda nice that itâs becoming like âyeah Iâll check out that new wing/foil at some pointâ ⊠as opposed to being like some crack addict that would sell their own mother to get it đ
What is your biggest foil? What is your low end setup?
My usual low end ride is the HA880, thatâs pretty easy to pump up in light wind. but I can go out with my HA1180 to in lighter stuff, I just rarely do. Im not so much of a super light wind winger anymore⊠I donât really think about going out under 12mph cause Iâm happy to paddle up to that.
â@@OCEANBOUND1I read that you changed armies fuses regularly due to wear, does this always happen? Can you prevent it or do they warranty it? I want to swap to armie to try the new ha but don't want to replace fuses, cheers
doesnt look fun going that slow......if he put strings on it up in the air it would go 10x faster...
Haha I stringâd it for 15 years and donât miss it đđđ
@@OCEANBOUND1 Yea, been stringing it for 14 years....I cant make the transition to slogging...
