  • 1978 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 SBC 350 motor mounts replacement.
If you are planning on replacing the clamshell motor mount on your 2nd gen F Body, don't think you'll be doing the job in 2 hours. We spent over 8 hours changing the motor mounts. You need to lower both lower control arm to have access to the nuts inside the frame. Be sure to have patience to put those nuts back in place.

i’m going to be having to take off these engine mounts, i’m wondering if you have to take it all apart or if you can find a specialty tool to do it

at 8:41 on the video it looks like there is a access hole maybe fit a swivel in there or was it completely covered?

A guy said he was able with a flex socket without taking the suspension apart. You can try. I can confirm there’s not much space to go in. Make sure to have patience.

Really? To be continued? I watched the whole thing to not only see the look on your face when you realized the mounts didn't match the originals but also to see if there was a pre drilled hole in the frame to accommodate the center bolt in the motor mount? Because there IS two different ANCHORE part numbers for the motor mounts... Anchor 2292 for the original type (Standard Engine) you took off & Anchor 2395 (Performance Engine) for the replacements you have.
I was 99.99% sure the replacements were NOT what came on a 1978 Z/28 and was curious as to why in the hell there are two different parts for the same application? And why the Z/28 would come with the type labeled for the "Standard Engine" and not the "Performance Engine"? Either way, until I have the time to watch part two I will assume the frame IS pre-drilled for both types.

We got pretty nervous when we notice it was different. Fortunately the frame was pre drill for the two different style. 😅
      Quite a job to install.
