What the hellâs going on this is like the 10th game come out recently thatâs what 20 years at a date
Iâm still watching this video. I am so disappointed I love sci-fi. This is terrible.
This game remind me of Scurge Hive. Still it not too hard. As a shooter is not too bad. I ignored the melee. The movement is messy at time(constant character freeze or stuck on a rock, really a issue if you are playing on hardest difficult). With its problems, I stay enjoyed it. I like that it is short and a easy platinum.
This guyâs the best reviewer by far. So in depth. Great voice and presentation with jokes that are subtle, not crowbarred in. Keep up the great work.
I am going to buy it when I save up some money because the Devs are from my country.
Here, rarely anyone makes video games.
The video game industry is almost non existent here
which country you're from?
Just knowing that alone makes me want to buy and support them
Hrvat ovdje, nisam znao da je Srpska tvrtka napravila ovu igru. Evo moĆŸda ga kupujem da takoÄer poÄrĆŸavam tvrtke s naĆĄeg prostora. Pozz
"A dance of death where either you or the enemy is the dance floor" Best Returnal description!
Glad games like this exist. This and Wanted Dead were games I heard about a couple months ago and they caught my eye. Takes me back to a simpler time. Will snag both eventually.
Yeah, I am really enjoyed Wanted: Dead.
Agree. Tired of every game out there having to be the biggest thing ever. Sometimes a game can just be good or decent.
I would steer clear of wanted dead until patches. The game I'd VERY GLITCHY I loved the combat ideas and creativity of the game. Execution was very poor . I had to refund it. I didn't want to but it doesn't work like it's supposed to
omg Wanted Dead is awesome
Agreed
Pretty interesting change of pace for this developer considering they mainly made point and click adventure games
That makes a lot of sense actually.
You know what, sometimes I want an average shooter. As much as I like David Lynch movies, sometimes I just want to watch a Marvel movie. I'll definitely pick this up in a sale.
At least this game lets you dodge more than once in a row. Shooting out the ice underneath enemies reminds me of gears of war too. Will def check this out after wo long.
I played the demo for this one and really enjoyed. Will definitely be picking it up.
Watching the movement reminds me of games from the early 00's. The legs and arms are moving, but the core is so rigid it's like a Barbie doll or GI Joe.
Pre-order was 40% off, so I bought on the strength of the demo.
Looking forward to playing through it starting tomorrow. The story gave me a real System Shock 2 vibe, curious to see how that holds up for the whole game.
Isn't System Shock getting a remake though?
@@deathsdoor07 It is, but that doesn't mean a game that has some of the same ideas (humans coming into contact with alien power and not faring particularly well) shouldn't exist. Especially when they try something new in terms of mechanics.
Enjoy the game bud
Even if it doesn't get a sequel, its a big stepping stone. I think the main issue is the protagonist being hard to connect with.
Which isn't neccesarily a bad thing really. There are a lot of great games that you don't really connect with the protagonists one way or another.
That and the combat being bland, generic and in need of a bit of polish
That and the fact it wouldn't have been considered visually impressive ten years ago.
Woke
@@Basada79 call anything woke nowadays. So I guess Control, Tomb Raider, HellBlade, Bayonetta, and Horizon zero Dawn were woke too?
I thought the demo showed promise, so I'll probably check it out eventually. I'm always wanting to see these sorts of single player, 3rd person shooter exploration games with a mystery kind of story, and sci-fi is a big plus. Sometimes I dream about a big budget open world game like that.
I really love low budget movies and games. As long as this is priced appropriately i'll be grabbing this.
Great video as always. I was always kind of suspect on this one, and with the reviews dropping after the game dropped it made me question it more. I see why though, hopefully they get another chance to build upon this.
Go Browns!
Saw an ad for this game on CZcams and it was so poorly presented that I thought it was a smart phone game. Glad the game is more legit than previously expected and may show promise for the studios future games
Sounds like a classic case of Euro-jank, they're also headquartered in Serbia. This would have been my jam several years ago, but we have so many quality indie games these days that Euro-jank doesn't appeal to me anymore.
I'll try it for the simple fact of exploration i can overlook a lot of the shortcomings of AA games sometimes they can be hidden gems just bc they're fun to play Ex like Scarlet Nexus never had i been into anime games tried bc it's free on PS extra and it's surprisingly good.
This game reminds me of Elex, Vampyr, The Last Oricu, Greedfall, The Surge and games like it. The middle of the road game that you can tell has a budget and is those janky europen style games. I am so getting this cause i love games like this. I play these type of games then i do indie or triple AAA.
hmm based form that, safe to say its an amalgamation then. same since its 30$ here
Vampyr really surprised me. Bought it on a whim cause I was bored one day. Enjoyed it so much I got the platinum đ
@@mrnozchalazt7199 Yeah, It's one of my favorite titles
Iâve finally played The Adventures Of Professor Poopy Pants; Dr Diaper Diaries.
One brave scientistâs desperate journey across an alien landscape, battling savage aliens with loaded pants and a dwindling hope of ever finding fresh sanitary napkins again.
When I ran up against hard rock but the slushing sounds of her footfalls remained, I suddenly realised it wasnât her shoes in the mud making that sound and all at once I understood the need for her stoic expression and why her trousers were so huge and lumpen. A gruelling game, not for the weak.
âPeace out & Gang Gangâ
I love it dog đ€Łâđż
Looks interesting, will wait for a sale.
Thanks Karak.
This one seemed like it needed way more polish as well as more care.
I haven't played it yet but from what I've seen , it reminds me more of Remnant than Returnal. Great review
That last analogy was perfect. Great review
I like the ongoing pop up of pros and cons in the vid. Nice one!
I love settings like this so I may end up giving the game a try
Loved the demo, gonna give this a chance!
Had me at the Mass Effect comparison
I don't know about anyone else, but I've had issues with the controls and also whether or not the enemies take damage when they should. Maybe it's just a glitch or something, but in my experience, I can shoot an enemy in its weak spot dead-on, and it refuses to register the effect that it should have on the enemy. For example, what I can only describe as the alpha of the rock gorillas is supposed to freeze and slow down as a result so I can hit its weak spot with the fire weapon, but one or both of those uses of ammunition don't affect the enemy when they should.
It also messes up when I try to dodge roll where I will hit the dodge button and it will either not work or it will roll but I will still take damage when I shouldn't have. I like the idea of combining of weapons to solve unique problems and take down certain enemies, but it only seems to work in theory due to these glitch experiences I'm having happen so consistently. I can't speak to anyone else's experiences, but this game was a waste for me.
Didn't even realize this came out. Might have to check it out, always enjoy sci fi style games and theyre extremely rare on Xbox. That's starting to change a bit this gen so far especially with sci horror
I got the notification for the trailer at the same exact time lol as this video
Love you ACG for putting the conclusion inside the title. Nobody does it.
Can you give us any idea when the Wolong review will be dropping? It is approaching release and review embargo is still up apparently
Why is it this is the first I'm hearing of this game?
Great review as always
same here
Why? Advertising budget.
đ
You didn't see it during one of Steam demo events.
@@newtonslore well said.
The same reason why you don't hear about most Double AA games. Money, A lot of people don't seem to recognize the effort that goes through video games.
Will buy the game. No matter how you put it, its a decent game. Love your reviews and thank you for reviewing development studio from Serbia đ·đžđ
I liked the demo, but donât know if I could go through those motions for a full game. Going to wait for deep sale on PC.
Love seeing devs trying somthing new but not shying away from their influences. Will definitely give it a shot when I can spare the time.
never heard of this game, but it looks like budget Returnal from an art style perspective.
Edit: and I just got to part where he mentions the Returnal likeliness lol.
Having tried the demo, I am leaning to buy it.
"Mom can we get Returnal?!"
"No, we have Returnal at home already!"
Looks pretty cool, really. I loved Returnal, as frustrating as it was for me at first, and this looks similar and different enough to be interesting.
Returnal started kinda annoying but by that final hug in the hospital it became one of my top 5 games of all time.
BEAUTIFUL story. Donât know what the writers were on but my god the way itâs so mysterious then makes sense then is mysterious then makes TOO much sense as you start connecting things then just gets really, really personal and dark and sad before a little glimmer of hope.
I LOVE that the alien godly cosmic monster was⊠nice. Like an actual helpful compassionate cosmic horror. Selene on the other hand⊠whoooo boy what a well written character. Sheâs so badass, but by the end you almost dislike her once you piece the plot together. Such a well written game! Didnât expect an 11/10 story from a game like thst.
So is it like Returnal in that, if you die, you go all the way back to the beginning?
You gotta love a guy who tells you the result of the review in the title and doesn't do the click-baity thing he could definitely do and get away with. Idk what this game is and never had any intention on buying it, but I clicked anyway because people like that deserve my support.
Loving it 3 hours in on ps5. The haptic gives the guns a good punchy feeling. Oh, and for 40 bucks, its hitting wayyy above it's weight class.
The Chant also delivers in that regard
@@Lock2002ful It has DualSense haptic feedback support on both PS5 and PC (Steam)
@@mekonin That is something I wish I knew earlier..
This game has (for me) the same problem(s) so many looter shooters and action/adventure games have had this last 10/15 years or so, and that is the penchant for these games to have characters that appear little more than animated poseable action figures, like the toys many of us played with as kids, acting out our fav scenes from certain movies or TV Shows the action figures were the merch for. Also too many many of these games have either all the Live Service bollocks attached (even if they 'claim' its not a Live Service title) or through over exposure, the now wearying tropes of the combat style/mechanics of a Souls-Like , or Souls-Borne game. There is no excuse (these days, graphics being what they are) for a bad looking game, even less for bad gameplay or game mechanics, given the plethora of styles, ideas, hooks and gimmicks out there that have been done and tried before. What's missing (on the whole) is great, even compelling STORY, as well as Originality in story,........too many go for the safe option, and THAT makes for 'SAMENESS' across the board, no matter the visuals, or the gameplay.
Kind of hyped for this, Metroid Prime meets Returnal with the gameplay of Remnant. I'll definitely play this, now the shedule is way to busy, but it goes on the list...
*too
Thanks for the review. Might try it out sometime. Playing too many games at the moment.
I hear that loud and clear. The start of this year has been crazy!!
Thanks for the review, I had this on my wishlist and was waiting for reviews to drop. You know what kills me about these games? The sci fi swords/knives. Just... just make it a knife or sword (more Machete, which is makes real sense as it's for survival). I don't know why they always gotta make it a lightsaber ripoff.
Control meets Returnal
Both also have female protagonists. This must be some trend. They are all similar heights and build too.
Appreciate the coverage. The more i See of this the more i think its my Cup of tea
I love your content and always wait for your reviews. Then you mentioned The Longest Journey... and here I thought I couldn't like you more!
It is from my country, from a serbian dev studio MadHead games
Looks kinda like a mix of remnant from the ashes combat and returnals world/atmosphere.
I completely forgot about this game. Looked good at TGA hopefully itâs good
The Alpha boss right after u figure out the freeze craft ..approaching ten time trying to defeat him
gameplay looks a lot like Revenant From the Ashes.
I played the demo last year. I was like if this is under $40 it's a great deal. imo
Damn this game looks like it's AI created when the devs try to mix Returnal, Tomb Raider, and Dark Souls
The same things crossed my mind. It does feel derivative in the worst way possible :/
Hence the protagonist choice and that she looks like Lara Croft lol
AI is likely programmed to never create a non minority character as protagonist.
@@sparhawk1228 Yep woke AF.
I've never had to buy a review before, so I guess I will keep on waiting to buy this review...
kind of seems like the dev left certain things unpolished because they were "good enough" whether or not that's due to time/financial constraints, or lack of effort, I guess I don't know. But it doesn't really help the image of this game.
It looks like some early footage of a kickstarter Unity project in a lot of places.
This looks great, but doesn't have that same momentum or feedback that returnal has
Does it have UE4 shader compilation stutter?
Did I hear you say only 7 hours of gameplay? I feel like that should have been emphasized more. Not every game has to be 40+ hours, but I'd expect at least 10...
I'm surprised about this game, how good it is !
I searched CZcams all week for new coverage on the game and found nothing so the embargo was already a tell.
Wait, you got "me" as a sponsor. How do you do such magic, mate?
Jokes aside, great video, as always.
Maybe Iâm the only one, but I appreciate you putting your verdict in the title!
Oooh this is that game that uses the same stock assets as The Day Before lol
I'm at a point where I just like the video before it even starts.
This one's on 25% discount in the Xbox Store right now, so I figure it's probably worth it - there's precious little like this of any quality right now on the market: I'm done with remakes of games I already demolished an age ago
hopefully dlc. iâm definitely buying it.
Great game, really enjoyed it, fun platinum. Glad I came across it on ebay
Those death animation for the npcs are a bit rough
Your "Returnal" at home
Still haven't beaten it
Returnal is mid, catch it free from fitgirl lol
@@halo2bounceguy Returnal is high tier game. And you can't even beat it. Period.đ
@@mavvynne444 Took 7 hours to beat for the first run, but it's too heavily RNG dependent compared to something like Hades, and not as fun as something like Deathloop, not as interesting as something like Prey's DLC. Runs are entirely too long and pausing just means you're cold when you get back.
It's mid, sorry you spent $60 on a $20 game at best lol
â@@halo2bounceguy deathloop was boring as hell for me i had a lot more fun with returnal just because you dont like it means not its mid lol
Hey, what happened to the gaming podcast? Is it Patreon only?
0:00 "The Longest Journey"? 8I
I absolutely love The Longest Journey but I haven't heard anyone mention it for many years. Are you saying the story of this game is somehow similar to that game?
Love it because its from Serbia and seems a nice game
_Serbia's Returnal_ let's go!
Game just reminds me sooooo much of Returnal, so I'm glad to hear it feels different.
Appreciate the review and looking forward to your thoughts on Wo Long!
Thinking about it being a remnant from the ashes from space, that comparison is closer.
Looks fun to me .. Iâm in
I'm hoping you're going to do a review of Sons of the Forest.
Look, is it an airplane? Is it a rocket? No, its Karak with a Kaaaaghhh!
Hello ACG,
Looking forward to your review of "Sons Of the Forest" :)
This looks cool, I'll get it at a reasonable price. Hopefully console performance and techinical state is good.
Honestly just wait a couple of weeks or a month since Prime Matter projects tend to be marked down during sales
I get Mass Effect Andromeda vibes too (both pros and cons)
Cool was wondering about this
Looks like Game Pass fodder. Iâll wait and see on that. Looks interesting. Visually, it does it for me, Iâm just not a fan of Boss fights.
Great review
How cow. Do you edit your own videos too? How do you manage it all?
Just switched my notifications to "all" after this one!
Look Ma, another game starring a brave waman!
Gives me Returnal vibes in a lot of ways.
She looks a lot like Lara Croft. I will give it a try, looks pretty cool
Lara croft stuck in a sci fi universe...
Reminds me on a different take on returnal
Iâm checking this game out.
That muzzle flash though đ€ą
Definite buy...a decade ago. Picking this up on a deep sale.
"We have Returnal at home"
I do miss the audio clips being more in the middle of a review instead of at the end though I can understand why you did so. YT gonna YT and all that.
