  • We visited the famous Shipshewana Flea Market in Shipshewana, Indiana while staying in nearby Middlebury. Although it was a great place to visit, the antique offerings there wasn't quite what we expected, but we saw they have some special events throughout the year. It was nice browsing through the Amish made foods and baked goods, I even bought some pie filling to use later in my dutch ovens. The town of Shipshewana is beautiful and worth the visit if your in the area.

I sometimes wonder, if anyone can possibly have a bigger heart than Abby. The world could use a lot more Abby's. Such a child like spirit and that's a good thing. Abom Adventures may be taking over Abom 79, in the favorite department. :-)

Enjoying your trip through Indiana, my home state. My mom would make a lot of those jarred goodies you showed. Amish peanut butter has always been my favorite and I make it sometimes still. I live in Florida now so I appreciate you showing your trip through Indiana. Safe travels to you both

well darn you two, If I knew you guys were that close I would have pointed you to Galesburg, Michigan that is the only "antique" shop that I know of on that side of the state. HOWEVER!!! when you do make a trip with the RV into Michigan I will point you to the "Gilmore Car Museum" not to far away from Galesburg which is a stones throw from Kalamazoo, MI. The once home of Gibson Guitars and Checker Cab Manufacturing.

You reminded me of snickerdoodles my Grandmother used to make back in the day in our old New England farm house on the dairy farm. Those snickerdoodles were delicious, and I remember trying to sneak more than my share out of the tin where she kept them without getting caught.

Swap meets are the only events to find everything. Just a pain trying to get all the times for them all. Wish there was a nationwide swap meet sight online. There is the Swap Meet Magazine for 2021.

I love about 45 min away from there. The flea market used to great about 10+ years ago but now a lot of the places seem to sell China made crap. I hope you enjoyed your time in Indiana!

I hope you tried Nelsons chicken and their pitatoes, they are delicious. Also those fried pies are amazing too, its worth the wait in line. My wife and I will drive 40 minutes just to pick some of those up. We usually go to Shipshe for the food.

I hope you stopped at the Auburn Duesenberg and Cord museum in Auburn Indiana. Small museum in the old Auburn design building. Cool place with a huge granite dead flat stone in the floor. Those doughnuts reminded me of the chocolate covered ones in Naxos Greece. Mmmm

Over on US 6 in Nappanee in the 80's and 90's back before it closed there was an Amish restaurant that had a mini steam train and a track going around the property, you could get your meal and go for a little ride. In downtown Goshen you can still see guard shacks from the days of the mobsters that would protect banks and the court house in the city from people like Dillinger. I lived around that area all my life up until 2017 when we headed south for warmer weather.

Rogers flea market in Rogers Ohio. It is really big and you will find the cast iron and machinists tools. I have been there many times and can tell you that you would be a happy camper if you go. A lot of the Amish goods there also. Look it up!

However, the Nelson's chicken isn't to be missed. Hoped you grabbed you a half a bird at least.

Live within 30 minutes of Shipshe (that's when traffic isn't backed up for 5+miles) and have yet to visit the flea thang. If you missed Rise N Roll Bakery on US 20, you missed out on some fine caramel rolls.
