I Built This Dirt Jump Bike From Spare Parts And It's Awesome!

- There's more to do with the BMX I built recently but with this Radon frame kicking about the temptation to build it and see if bigger wheels would suit me more was too much!
After the smoothest build yet (if you ignore the chain tension) I'm left with a bike people would sell their kidneys for, so I've no excuses...time to get out and see how a bigger bike handles.
Thanks for watching and see you next week, I hope you have a good one!

Beaut build, Ali. Your parts ‘bin’ makes me chuckle.. “here’s my light bicycle carbon rim on a chris king hub” 😂
Really enjoy the humour in your bike builds, it'll be great to see you ride it, possibly something you've never done(those triples you called out) into a foam pit or airbag
With such a high handlebar, low fork, gear ratio and slippery tires, this is almost a "street-dirt mtb" machine. They was quite popular in the mid-2000s in my country as a contrast to street-bmx (so often there were 24-inch wheels and no brakes).
Good one, looking forward to testing it out!
That's such a sweet build there Ali. It must have been so satisfying to not only have all the parts you needed at hand, but how well they all match...aside from the hubs of course hehe. Cracking job as usual dude gonna be good to see you shredding it!
Nice build! A sudden apparition came to me that you could also do a bike wash part at the end of the build, the satisfying/asmr feel I think people enjoy from these videos would be met even more so and would be a chance to get a sponsor on board for the cleaning supplies. 👍
Beautiful work, insane like instruments! perfect!
Looks great and you will be much happier with the bigger bike. I run that OneUp conversion on my DJ with a front brake. Very simple and clean setup.
Looks great! I've thought a lot about getting a beginner trials bike but at the same time I feel like I might get more use out of something a little in between that and a jump bike!
Lovely build that and you look really comfy on it straight away
Good looking bike, nice build as always, cant wait to see it in action, well done Ali!
Good looking build, Ali. I look forward to seeing some riding!
Another awesome bike build. Thanks!
always an awesome day when AC posts a new video!
One of my dream bikes
nice build :) love the differently colored hubs!
Have the same frame and i love it, strong enough and that dropouts are the things I needed… it fits my 27,5 wheels and bits from my enduro bike😅
Loved this! Fascinated with dirt jumpers and their geometry for parks and street riding, I’ve tried bmx and it’s just not for me! Tempted for one of these but at 38 I feel I’ve missed the boat for learning as falling hurts now 😂😂😂
Same age as me 😉
That's a really nice build!
o man that is a sweet build! nice job
Beaut of a build!
Brilliant Ali. Well good and the cute thief is correct. Wonderful build. I love the tan wall tires and the clean yet kind of retro look that the colors seem to convey, Fun build as always Ali and I have some builds that you might fancy as well. I will PM them to you on FB Cheers Sir. - M
Nice build. Amusing as always. If you want a Chromag saddle might be able to help. Seatpost might be tricky though
Great build
Inspires me to build one! Awesome!
Looks great
You know it’s good when the cute thief is the first thing you see
that thing looks sweet!
Your Cute Thief hoody and/or T-shirts are amazing! Consider this my vote for getting those in your merch shop. I'd get some for me and my wife as fellow cat lovers.
Dope bike Ali
Nice build bro. I'm going to do the same with my Giant XTC1 '26 inch. But i'll go for the 32-16 gear ratio
Enjoy your bike
Another great build Ali! Thanks. (I was secretly hoping you had sourced a 22” BMX frame but alas…one day?). Keep your eye on WTP, they are working on some disc compatible frames with their “Chaos Machine 20” but I think a disc compatible 22” is in the pipeline maybe 🤞🏼. Really would love to see what you think of a 22”.
Also, check “Fingers Crossed BMX” some great innovations being created now!
Have a good one and enjoy the Radon 👊
Dat b awesome af
I would buy that bike. Looks awesome with the sand color
Anytime you make a build Ali it actually looks sick asf
color combo is very nice i like
the Ride video will be interesting, I have a Sweep fork on my Single Speed set to 140mm(they are internally adjustable) I find it a bit flexy but not a bad fork overall
Much better 👌👌
Love your vs Ali
building my first DJ thankyou!!!
I will never have that much money but i love bikes very nice build
Just buy a part here and there. By the time you know it, you'll have your dream bike
this ones almost as cool as the all silver bike that curve frame just a lil more sexy. break lines are so much cleaner on this one tho keep it up man 🔥
Hey Ali. Interestingly enough some of your inspired frames you have laying around might work for a really progressive street dj bike.
Use the team bars. Throw the lowest axle to crown 100mm travel fork on you can. On either a hex or one of the other frames with less bb rise. Trade bb rise for some slight rear end length gains. Many modern dj frames are in the 370 range some older ones could push to 370 slammed or shorter with 360 stays and long drop outs.
Shorter stem. And shorter length crank arms. Right tires. And you have a bike meant for slaying streets. Rigid for slightly steeper headtube angle. Or find a way to get a true 26 fork shorter than 100mm travel.
Mechanical rear disc. Some road options work perfect for the post mounts on the inspired frames. Short pull discs means you can run a gyro and just drill a tap and frame for tabs. And use a bmx lever like an odyssey m2 with included upper dual cable. And an odyssey Y traditional style lower cable.
Yokozuna mechanical hydro brakes would make it still Hydro but mechanical operated gyro for simple and headache free brakes.
You'd have essentially an equivalent to what people are building with custom 26 street frames.
I used to have a Radon once upon a time. Great quality for little money.
Oh my god . its perfect dirtJumping - slopestyle bike
Good stuff ali but you don’t need any lube to fit grips you can just slap them on from the end and the air pressure pops them on
For them hose guides take a strip of old inner tube and stamp holes in both ends then put the bolt through the holes works for me👍

Very nice!
rad build. for help with gearing you can use an online chainstay calculator, it will give you the shortest possible rear end with the best suited gearing
belter!
dude I've always used a plastic tire lever to tighten my crank preload ring... LOL its insane the random things we sub use for.
Great presenting style and a great looking bike - unlike some of the abominations from my parts bin over the years :D
“Like an apple to a horse”
😂
Really pretty bike. now i wanna remake my DJ
Excruciating watch 👍
That Radon frame is very, I mean very, similar to the one on a Cube “Flying Circus”. Just in case someone can’t track down a Radon.
you need the shortest reach stem for dj park builds and makes it ride so much better, Used to use one from a company called BEDDO
Great build mate! Can you make a rear sus only build?
Oh my days,, I use scissors or a kitchen knife as well.. great minds think alike,
Sweet ride!
That's dope
0:55 I have the same cat. Same painting version, ahahaha. awesome.
Just finished building one myself nothing like this though 😅😅😅 nice
36T on the front is huge! I’ve got 28T on mine.
Sweet bike! Btw zip ties with screw holes would have been perfect to hold down that brake hose
Agreed! Btw, if you're riding you should consider getting an nta helmet like xnito or bern hudson, cpsc helmets aren't that safe
Nice bike. Been looking for some black jump bike 26 wheels for a while…
Great 👍
Sweet 🌴🌴
Great build, although was made of leftover parts! Big chainring is not looking to be the biggest issue
It looks cool setup with short chainstays but from experience with a singlespeed build you do want some clearance between the tyre and the seat tube or else mud and grit get trapped there.
That makes sense but realistically this bike was never going to see any mud 😊
@@Ali_Clarkson Hello mate, thanks for the reply, I found running bare minimum clearance was a fun experiment but turned out to be not very practical. Cool build regardless, cheers
Love your builds tho
Hey Ali, curious of the rim spec you have on this bike. Need some reference before ordering my new light bicycle rims for my slopestyle bike 👍🏻
Made me grintch after you hit the frame with that piece of wood
Then I did my job :)
Matt Jones does the bar spin for rear hydraulic brake hose
Funny that the "burly" fork went on the trials build. I'm trying out a 1500 gram RS Reba on my new trials frame.
I keep waiting till the day when Jane returns the bar test trumpet note from inside the house.
I would just switch the front tires , the dth washes out easily in the berm . Of course it depends on what you’re riding. I kept my dth in the back and put a cross king in the front.
My like is for the kitty
i love it and wanna build one like it with better gearing
MAN I AM DONE, YOU BUILD A BIKE RIDE IT FOR THE FIRST TIME AND ARE BETTER THAN ME :(
One of the better looking ones of yours.
That cat is certainly made by Giant.
🤣🤣🤣 love it, i do the same thing with my sissors,
it is beautifull, just stop and stare, have fun with it :)
Would swap the pikes from the trials dirt jumper and yeah a smaller sprocket at the front !
there is classic tan wall version of these tires, which in my opinion looks much better than dark tan wall.
Good rubber is important 😂
How did the chain end up on this?
Noice!
Cool
So you have done dirt jumper meets trials in a few vids now, have you ever done trials bike meets dirt jumps? I’ve always been curious how much the head angle would slacken if you put a 100mm ish travel suspension fork on say, one of the inspired 24” frames. That would make the BB even higher so maybe there’s no way it would work, but if you have the parts it could make for an interesting video 🤷🏻♂️
Did that a few years ago on my hex…raised the bb way too high!
I’ve also taken my trials bikes off dirt jumps and they coped pretty well 👍🏻
👍
I ride dirt jumps and techy stuff with an aggressive riser on my bike, you'll be fine prolly
I think you should atleast buy a new chainring and a shorter stem !
I think the chair looks pretty nice makes the bike look very playful and streety :)
Coke cans work for me :) 13:27
it'd be sick to have an xfusion fork and maxxis tires in a parts bin
It went together easily in less than an hour. czcams.com/users/postUgkxHL1v1R3NE5x4KiYfyt8dnQmyNYz7qi5L Make sure the front fork is forward or the pedals will hit the front tire. Tires are both a little soft so it needs air before I ride it. The rear wheel didn't come with a clamp regular bolts hold it on. The front had the clamp. No scratches out of box. Rims are a little off with a slight wobble. They could have spent more time with the spoke tool fixing the run out. So far out of the box I'm happy with it. I did replace the pedals with a nice aftermarket set. After riding it a bit my A$$ is a bit sore so I ordered another seat. Overall I'm nearly 60 and didn't ride a bike in 30 years. I like my new 29" Schwinn. It will be used for casual rides with my friend.
I like that ONE^ preload system. I hate, Hate, HATE those horrid one-directional things that need to be hammered into the top of the steerer. I refuse to have them on my bikes. I'd rather use a heavy head-lock system but my go to favourite is either a head doctor or a USE safe T bar.
Yeah and idk if im just stupid but i need to replace my staar nut every now and then coz they for some reason get loose and thread spins around in the star and i cant unscrew the bolt... pretty annoying tbh
Nice build. the thief is right... for your cables, go to any auto parts store and ask for 'P' Clips.
Love the jokes Ali!🤣😂🤣😂
sick!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
It's not for me to tell you how to ride a bike but, you might be giving up on BMX too soon. It can takes weeks to get comfortable on one if you're used to something larger. If the aerosol you use to fit grips is ever unavailable, I use the cable ties method, which you can look up if you're unfamiliar with it. What PSI are you using on the DJ bike?
What wheel size
