I don’t think it was as much an excuse as it is something that impacted his decision. At the end of the day, it is ultimately his responsibility for making those decisions that led to infidelity, but relationships require work by both individuals.

I could see it in the episode when she told Dennis she was pregnant. He was surprised but also had that "oh shit" reaction. They moved too fast and she should have listened to what her friends were saying. Now that she has PJ ( beautiful baby) they can co-parent just fine. They're both great parents. Honestly, there’s a massive difference btw Kenya and NeNe. Kenya knows what she is on the show and plays it well. However, outside of the show it’s obvious that Kenya is a good person and admits when she’s wrong. Even though Kenya and Eva didn’t get along at first, Eva said Kenya called her almost everyday to make sure Eva had everything she needed while pregnant. Every opportunity Kenya gets she praises Cynthia and Kandi for being amazing business women. However, NeNe is the same miserable woman off the show as she is on it.
