    Thanks for this upload. I have the same vehicle, same model. I experience the samething with the tank and gage. I just ignored it and o am thankful i am filling up with less gallon per fill up, looking at the positive.

    Have the same issue. Unfortunately my local Toyota dealer says the RAV4 Hybrid gas tank recall does not apply to the Primes. Have anyone had any success to getting this fixed?

      I just remind myself empty is OK - 150+ miles left

    I have the 2024 Toyota Rav4 Prime Se and seem to have the same issue. I fill the gas untill it clicks and stops. It only gives me like 9 or 10 gallons only. If it has a 14 .5 gallon tank, why does it only give me around 9 to 10 gallons only??? Another issue that I'm having is when i fill up and then start the car, it tells me that i have like 450 hv mile range left to empty. When I'm close to E again, it saÿs on trip A counter that I've traveled like only 350 miles. That's like a 100 mile difference. What gives???

    My wife drives me crazy on trips.. She always wants me to go to a gas station when it's close to empty and the warning light come's on.. I tell her there is tons of gas left. New Subscriber. I've got a lot of prime content on my channel.. but will be working on a new channel focusing on autos and technology.

      Nice! Yea. For the first time, this week my wife let it go to 0, then drove 2 more days at 0 and was able to fill 11.7 gallons. So she had almost 3 gallons = 120 miles left!

    Not sure what’s all going on. The range should be on the conservative side with the engine running non stop.
    So I am confused, do you not have your hands on the wheel? My understanding of the lane trace asset is a safety feature that keeps you from accidentally crossing into another lane?

    • @junbox618
      @junbox618  Před 2 lety +1

      Have you ever had a passenger yank the wheel into the next lane? That's exactly what it feels like.

    We have a 2022 RAV 4 Prime SE with now over 5,600 miles. I noticed when I filled up the tank a few days ago the gauge on the dash estimated I had 586 miles of HV. My average MPG in HV with a depleted battery with rural roads and highways, 25-55 MPH, conservative driving, for nearly 190 miles was 53.065 MPG based on filling up with miles divided by gallons pumped. The gauge average on the dash was 53.866 MPG.
    So with that in mind 53 X 14.5 gal's = 762.5 miles
    Even with 12 gal's X 53 = 636 miles.
    I believe Toyota does this so you really have to try to run out of gas, as there may be an issue with the hybrid system if you do.

    • @junbox618
      @junbox618  Před 2 lety +1

      I've made similar calculations after this video. My wife still looks at the gauge and fills up way early. Average fill up for her is < 8 gallons. I'm the type of person that fills up with maybe 2 gallons left.

    I have the same issue. I fill up as soon as I see the gas light turn on and i end up filling 9.5- 10 gal of fuel. That usually gets me 450 miles. That's about 45 miles/gal just on hybrid mode. If I use the EV mode I can see up to 60mpg. The question is do I really want to put 14 gallons in my tank? Gas is $6.50/gal in San Diego.

    • @junbox618
      @junbox618  Před rokem +2

      Dang 45mpg is killer. We get around 40. Freeway speeds above 70 kills mpg

    @georgesgrijalva Před 2 lety +1

    Same issue here. I've taken mine all the way down to 1 mile and was still able to drive another 4 to the gas station.
    Also, I think I have that "tank issue" that the most rav4s were experiencing the past few years. I have a 2022 Prime PP XSE. Manual reads that a full tank gives your roughly 550miles in range. I'm only getting 480miles on a good fill up but usually around 470 miles. I have an appointment on Saturday, see what theu come up with.

      @@szuber42I believe what he's saying is the (DTE) distance to empty says 0 (hv) hybrid vehicle miles left, but at the same time there's still gas in the tank and he's still able to go 100 miles after it says 0.

  • @quique07
    @quique07 Před 2 lety +1

    Yesterday something odd happen. Have you guys ever dealt with your fuel gauge and Distance to Empty go up, without refueling? Yesterday my RAV4 showed DTE 25 miles and Fuel light was ON, then the DTE changed to 75 miles and Fuel light went away... i think the fuel needle also went up.... is this part of this general problem or could i have a faulty gauge sensor?

    • @junbox618
      @junbox618  Před 2 lety

      Interesting! I'd be curious to find out if anyone else has seen that. I've seen the DTE go up or down slightly, maybe 2-3 miles at most.

    Hi! I have a 2022 Rav4 TRD and I have this issue. I’ll take it up a notch, my gas warning light won’t even turn on at all. Got it down to 13 mile range with no light. I filled up the tank to 12.1 gallons with the 13 mile range left. There should be over 2 gallons in the tank 🤷‍♂️. So weird. I also turned off lane tracing, kept pulling me to side sometimes. I dont trust it.

    • @junbox618
      @junbox618  Před rokem +2

      Hahahaha man that is WEIRD! And this is why I love my 1st Gen Sequoia - no fancy electronics, pretty much everything is mechanical.
      Lane Tracing seemed really cool when we first got the Prime, but after driving thousands of miles with it and having it steer off the freeway a few times, I was done with it. I talked to a Mercedes engineer buddy who has a new Supra. He said it has to do with the hierarchy of sensors. When the sensors don't agree lane tracing gets goofed up.

      @junbox618  Před 2 lety

      My first drive was from LA to NorCal too. Was fine stayed in middle lane up and down the grapevine too. Get a bigger sample size, you'll see crazy eventually. One of our friends is an engineer for Mercedes and he kinda explained to me the hierarchy and confidence intervals our lane trace system uses - he recommended not using it at all, before I had these problems.
