I inherited my dry feet from my mom. Feet were fine, hit 30 and boom. Cracked dry feet. Checked with derm and he confirmed its genetic, all tests came back normal. 40% Urea cream (With socks) and the Ordinary 30% AHA (No socks, once a week, 10 minutes only) is what I use.. The ordinary AHA didn't work well with my face. Tried it on my feet one day, didn't cause a reaction and helped IMMENSELY with cracking and flaking on feet.

Regarding the support aspect; I had knee and lower back problems all of my life. But I finally tried minimalist flat foot wear (like converse) and it changed my life for the better, now feel like a kid again, I have no more knee and back pain. 100% gone. I was told I needed more support all of my life when actually it was the opposite that cured my pain.

Kerasal is fantastic to soften callouses on my heels. I also use Eucerin's Intensive Repair lotion and CeraVe's baby ointment alternatively. My feet are more susceptible during the summer when I'm less likely to wear socks due to the heat and humidity. It's an ongoing battle. 😕 Thankfully I've never been one to roam around outdoors in bare feet. I agree about menopause....it dries out everything. I've noticed since it started, my toenails have become dryer and more prone to breakage. Ointment is very helpful for this. ☺

Learning to use a urea-based foot cream is one of the very best tips I've picked up from you, Dr. Dray. I'm not the type of person who is so invested in their feet that I'd ever get a pedicure. But I don't want my feet looking gross. Using Kerasal 1x/wk has been the perfect almost no effort solution. I use Albolene on my feet on the regular, too, instead of petrolatum. Albolene is another product I'd have never tried without you. Initially, I got Albolene to remove my sunscreen. This winter, I found it to be the most soothing product when I feel an eczema flare coming on. Now, I turn to it for many needs because I enjoy the greater "slip" in it.

Ive been battling dry cracked heels since I was in my early 30s. I recently started using AHA lotion on my body and thought, why not feet too!? Occlusives alone have not been enough. In the last week I’ve been using AHA on my feet at night, with aquaphor layered on top. Socks go on for as long as I can tolerate (sometimes they come off in the middle of the night). My heels are finally, after all these years, looking heathy. I may try the kerasal product you mention but will be careful not to go too far. Thanks for mentioning AHA (and similar) in this video. I used to live in a really cold place (MI) where I had the heat on all the time and then when I moved back to the South my feet became horribly dry and cracked. I'm nutritionally sound and I have had my thyroid checked, etc. What coincided with the move was perimenopause, though. However, you're the fist person to say that menopause can be a cause. I asked my derm why this was happening and she didn't tell me about menopause, she just shrugged and told me to use a cream. I can't take hormones due to history of breast cancer, so I can only do topical treatment, but I still wanted to know *why*. Now I'm pretty sure it's menopause. Thanks!

At our Podiatry clinic, we have to remind people to wear shoes🤗 and lotion of course! Love this video!!! We also tell people to use saran wrap over lotion instead of socks, for extreme cases, so the moisture goes into the skin instead of into the socks. DON'T WALK IN THE SARAN WRAP! Super slick

In the past I worked in a quality footwear store that sold supportive footwear. I have seen some really bad cracked heels, hammer toes, etc. Women who in the 1950s and 60s changed the shape of their feet so much in the pointy heels. I stopped wearing heels and know arch support is a must. I have been getting dry and cracked heels that I use a pumice stone for. This video was great timing. Thanks, Dr. Dray!

Thank you for bringing awareness to menopause and it’s impact. In peri-menopause, I started to get severe crack feet. I had to go to the doctor because it got so bad. Thankfully, I was put on hormones, and it cleared up in 4 months. The hormones also corrected the easy bruising I started to experience , loss of hair, and balance issues caused by the peri-menopause.

I’ve worn Vionics exclusively for years. I probably have about 20 pairs right now. They’re fantastic for plantar fasciitis. I highly recommend them to anyone who needs a high arch support.

No cracked heels but I developed plantar fasciitis about 7 yr ago. I literally couldn't walk. I bought Vionic
Dressy flats for work & they were Very expensive. Absolutely did nothing to help.
Plain Crocs provided my only relief.
After doing foot stretches religiously it went away. I have to say the pain related to PF was excruciating. Btw-
      I never wore flip flops

Thanks for this. I am an amputee so my remaining foot health is VERY important. I will try the Kerasal and socks. Winter I wear little boots and summertime I excitedly wear sandals. I love painting both my biological foot and the prosthetic foot shell to match. Changing footwear frequently is a problem so I rarely change shoes unless my prosthetist does it. Sneakers is something I was stuck in for the beginning and I missed cuter shoes that I’m now able to wear. Dry foot was an issue last year and I’m hoping this will help.
