- The Ford Fiesta stands firm in a stacked supermini class featuring popular vehicles such as the Volkswagen Polo, Vauxhall (Opel) Corsa and, Peugeot 208. However, the Ford Fiesta is starting to look a little long-in-the-tooth in terms of design, and come 2017, Ford will be releasing an updated model. With this in mind, can the Ford Fiesta still hold firm, or are newer superminis read to take the title of one of the UK’s best selling cars? Does the interior and design feel outdated, or can the Fiesta stand the test of time? Find out all my thoughts in this in-depth video review.

It’s a small hatchback you don’t buy it for loads of room..

I Just WANT TO Know how can I program my car. It is a 2016 FORD FISITA . I have never had a good car and he bought me some on. We have been together for 5 years he is 78 and my birthday is FEB 6. I can drive but I do not know what the diggets are. I am going to be 64. But he is a Sweetheart. I just do not what to do. I get out of the car and lock it. When I'm In the car and someone wants to get in the trunk I have to take my keys out so I can open the trunk. I went to the FORD dealier in Redding to get a book so I could find out. They gave a 2015 that was not mine but I felt that was CHRISTMAS. They gave it to me .But I did not really find out to much. HA HA I found the trip switch. That was so cool. I do not what the phone and the other stuff that is 🤣 m the middle of the dash. I can't find it. I am PROUD OF YOU GUY'S. My dad had a 36 Ford Coupe. It was AWESOME. THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP. I APPRECIATE YOUR GUY'S EVERYONE NEEDS A GREAT HEART. GOOD LUCK GUY'S
Lol, I can confirm that sometimes the car doesn't want to go in to reverse.
Common issue with fiestas
iCoolaxe I once tried to go from 5th to 4th and ended up going to reverse and the grind was even more horrifying
iCoolaxe Lol so true 😂😂😂 Then you hear this other mechanical sounds...
mine is the same. its a common issue.
It's there in my 5th gen Fiesta too. Especially frustrating when doing a 3 point turn and someone is behind you.
Used to drive a Fiesta ST model. I know it is not really fast, but for me still the most nippy and fun to drive car in my life
I heard it sounds pretty good is it true?
the st is fast
They are pretty rapid, probably rival a lot of other cars
This is the guy who should co-host top gear!
More money when you have your own show
Got one in black 125psi, with all extras. Great car for someone of my age 20-21. Insurance is a nightmare for anything higher power at my age and location
Thank you for such a great review! I just don't like couple things here:
1) 1:00 - how you kick the suitcase!
2) 2:25 - how you jump out of the car putting all your weight on the door!
But again... all in all - very very informative!
Ambient mood lighting. Who needs an S class! 😀
1seipai Ambient mood lighting so you can see the ugly interiour in the dark. Splendid.
Sirion Or maybe so you can't see the fantastic plastic and prehistoric buttons!
1seipai Well, I actually bought this car (ST-Line, 125hp/pk) and I don't regret it at all. You think other brands don't use "cheaper" materials but that's not true. Maybe a bit more shiny/glossy (I don't like that anyway), but also "cheap". Even Audi uses a lot of plastic in the A1, A3, so what's the point. I actually think the materials are okay, in my opinion it looks very nice on the inside and it gives you a premium feeling. Leather wheel, Chrome badge/strip, other Chrome materials, nice dashboard design, good audio system (7 speakers). The nav system (lync/sync) isn't that bad either. It's a bit smaller than you would expect (in the New Fiësta model you get a larger one), but it works: 3D maps, bluetooth connection, etc. No problems at all. I would defenitely recommend this car. It has a premium feeling, it's fast, and it's sporty.
I swear the ambient lighting on the s class is way better though tbh
😂😂
Couldn't agree more! I've got a 14 plate, 1.6TDCI econetic Zetec. Do lots of motorway miles(around 70%) and get an average 65mpg! Also got the upgraded Sony DAB infotainment which does improve the interior.
Très bonne vidéo.j'aime les plusieurs personnes sur la banquette arrière et les différents bagages présentés dans le coffre.cela permet d'avoir un bon aperçu.c'est rare de voir ce type de présentation.vraiment top
I had a 1.6 Fiesta Titanium for 4 years, I loved driving it, I had no problems at all then bought a
1litre 125bhp Titanium, I loved driving it once I got used to the tall gears. I now have a 1 litre red/black edition 140 bhp and really love driving it, the engine just wants to keep accelerating to the red line but I would agree the infotainment system is a mess and the sat nav is confusing to use compared to the Tom Tom I have. I think Ford put too much into the technical side of things that nobody will use, like "My key" and the voice recognition which is pointless. I don't like the fact the rear seats don't go flat and rear leg room
is not good. It seems expensive for what you get but in my opinion despite its age, it is the best looking car on the road and is great to drive. I would buy another one but only if I got a few thousand off the price. If the Japanese manufacturers could design a good looking car, I'd probably buy one, but I think they are all ugly.
Nice to see Matt again...
Best car reviewer in CZcams tbh
1:31 dat cut
Outside still looks good after all these years, inside is very poor tho.. new one is on the way.
2017 looks like the whole package to me. looking good inside too
We used to get soft, squishy dash plastics in the Fiesta we get in Australia when they used to source them from Germany, but since they moved production for our market to Thailand we now have crappy hard scratchy plastics.
Reviewing Mazda3 hatchback anytime soon? A comparison of the 2016 and 2017 models would be interesting.
6:02 I remember Mat brought up exactly the same point when he was reviewing this car for Carbuyer!
for who?
carwow I... I don't know.. I think I had a strange dream or something, nevermind
carwow did u fall out with them ? 😭
Yeah inner CLARKSON!
Our wardrobe department (well, Mat's mum) says it's better than outer Clarkson
lel
Hi mat, will you review Renault Clio 2017
Having bought a (used) 2014 model Econetic, I'd agree with the comment about the relatively firm ride (especially having owned Renaults previously), but disagree with the comments about the boot space (it's smaller than most competitors) and the driving position (I'm accustomed to a higher seat position, but when I jack the seat up then the view forwards is obstructed by the low top edge of the windscreen). Not only that, but because the seat cushion is very thin and mounted very low, there is no decent resting for the right leg unless the seat is moved a long way backwards, which means that the gear stick is a long way away (and it almost annihilates the rear legroom) - and I'm barely six feet tall. Also the rearward view is terrible - the combination of tinted glass, odd-shaped door mirrors and the B-pillar position in my 5-door model makes for not only claustrophobia but also a hideous blind spot (I have had to train myself to physically turn my head and peer round the B-pillar because passing cars literally disappear otherwise). Lastly, why NO room to rest the cluch foot? Honestly, that's a shocking deficiency in what is always touted as a great driver's car. It's not only a lack of space in the footwell, but also the clutch pedal crank is offset to the left, thereby unnecessarily taking up space to the left of the pedal. I never thought I'd say it, but I miss my Renault Clio which had a clutch foot rest, decent leg support and better stowage space in the cabin. The Fiesta is a mess by comparison. I bought it for the theroretical economy potential, but it won't give me better than 67mpg and that's scant improvement on my (more powerful, more tractable, altogether more usable) Clio.
The exterior still looks fresh after nearly 10 years. The interior not so. This is its final year anyway so it's done it's job.
Hello. I hope in the future you can review the Honda Jazz and more 'super mini's' ! :)
Pity the interior lags others. The seats not folding flush is a bit grim for nowadays....... Yet they get the hard bits right : the handling and the looks! Does Ford employ engineers with IQs of 150 and interior designers with IQs of 50 ? Come on Ford, let your engineers loose because they do fab work
Matt, please do a review of Polo and also the comparo in Supermini segment
Mat, you should be an actor! I love to watch your reviews :)
Fiesta: outside - yes, inside - no!
Hey Matt, I had an XR2 and XR2i as well. Great cars both. Would love to drive a restored model now! 😀
Great reviewer.
new Seat Ibiza is going to be king of the hatchbacks, any chance of a review when it it comes out?
Awesome video! best reviewer "in the world"😂😂
Your Clarkson is spot on LOL
I have the same car but the Titanium version and I absolutely love it!
Should have reviewed the VX-Line Corsa considering you're doing an ST-Line Fiesta. Seems a bit more fair than using whatever poor spec corsa you were using.
oh i love this channel...
I’m about to sell my 2016 fiesta tit x. I just wanted to pay my respects, I really like it. It was really quite enjoyable to drive, was comfortable and reliable mostly. I’d actually reccomend the higher trim levels if you can find one for a good price.
Please review a Seat Ibiza FR 🙏🏼
The interior is dated but it's still fun to drive and the heated windscreen is awesome here in Finland right now. The new Fiesta looks too similar to this and the back of the car looks boring, like a small Mondeo..
I have a 2017. Here in the US by 2017 the only engine offered was the 1.6 non turbo gas engine. And most (including mine) were sold the 6 speed twin clutch auto. It's an interesting transmission. The first 2 gear changes are sort of abrupt but after that they're smooth. Overall I love my Fiesta.
Yeah, the fiesta and focus automatics had really really iffy transmissions in this period. The manuals were all round beautiful cars, though. If only ford hadn't cheaped out with the dry clutch...
I own a 2016 Ford Focus, some complain about Fiestas and Focus. Mine runs excellent and I refuse to replace it, except I might be getting a new Mach E
So true about the reverse gear! we had it in our 2006 fiesta
my 2012 does the same lol
worth mentioning that all 1.0 ecoboost engines are identical except for mapping, so mountune can take all to 155 bhp without invalidating the warranty.
Tom New Because tuning a 1 liter engine makes so much sense. And you think it doesn't invalidate warranty? Of course it does! You modified the product. It will be YOUR task to prove it wasn't your fault if there is any engine damage later. Good luck with that.
All these naive dushebags believing in what backyard tuners tell them...
No company will ever pay if you modified the product, you would have to go to court for sure and would most certainly lose...because as I said...in this case YOU have to prove it wasn't your fault.
Sirion 30 secs googling mountune would have saved you the embarrassment of that comment. it is worth tuning, and getting it done by mountune keeps the warranty.
Mountune tunings are aproved by ford and they wont affect the warranty.
Montune is owned by Ford, so in most countries warrancy is not affected by most mods, however.
Yup, Mountune upgrades don't affect warranty in the UK. Booooost
Haha the reverse thing. I thought it was just me that did something wrong.
I have an 08 mk6 and I struggle to get it into reverse too 😂
@1:49 when he says really really ahaha
inner Clarkson! xD brillant!
I recently got a 2013 fiesta 123bhp eco boost Zetec S 1L 3door
Honestly it’s not bad
Lots of stuff you could do to it
But it’s nice as it is
Plenty of kick
This is a 15,000 $ aston Martin 😂 beautiful car
awesome fun car views Thanks Matt
Desperate to see a review of the new 208 gti prestige!!
I just bought a fiesta 2016 but i m wondering what's the litell black bulb above the center consol???
Try and do a Head to Head against the french rivals Renault Clio and Peugeot 208 please
When are you going to review the Dacia Sandero?
The thing that has always baffled me are the white sun visors - when the entire interior and roof lining is black !!
why cant they fix that reverse gear 😕 my mk6 does it as well
I am really wondering why BBC does not choose Mat as the next top gear presenter. I believe he is the best for this.
Money
Plus other things
Not much going on in the boot? What did you expect Mat, a group of dancing girls waiting to suddenly spring into action 😂😂😄
Do the 2017 version. PLEASE...
lol @ the youths!
Thanks. We found them jumping on a Porsche nearby
That's cold :-D
carwow don't make me go on strike!
u should let your inner clarkson out more!
please do the lexus GS matt.. thanks
If the new 2017 model is released will this 2016 version still be up for sale?
I don’t notice the noise but I will say I notice when it gets hot and bakes the car! The textured material for the dash and doors on my model I don’t know what the deal is but goodness me.
Has anyone had the problem of the wrench light coming on the 1.5 diesel? Ford told me that I don't do enough mileage. It's had 2 oil changes at 3000 miles.
The automatic information would be nice for once
you should do the Honda Jazz
Still a really good car despite its age! I wouldn't buy one but Ford got this one spot on considering the previous gen was coma inducing
I think the previous gen was a better car, mainly because it was more SPACIOUS, had a bigger and more practical boot much better shaped, had a logically laid out infotainment system rather than flashy stupid voice control system, had good engines on offer,
I mean SPACE is always a sore point on Fords, why is it that all Fords look large outside but s so tiny and pathetically claustrophobic inside,
Wet cambelt on the Ecoboost, what the hell where they thinking!!??
I have a 2014 zetec s 125 bhp ecoboost and everything you said is true
Has the cambelt failed yet?
You should stop doing reviews of 3 door cars, everyone knows that they have bad knee and head room...
Dorian Alushi Not the Scion tC
I thought it was only mine that had the reverse issue
that dial dial number buttons is not so useful but look good
love the vids! you should do a review on the newest kia picanto as its changed since 2011!
The reverse on the fiesta is annoying 😂. I only get about 48mpg in mine, I didn’t realise they were suppose to get 60! (And I drive sensibly, too)
Ford's mpg claim is pie in the sky, 48 is good
Very useful as I'm wanting one of these soon I think the Ecoboost is just amazing for what it is and to get an ST line I mean it's all good yeah there are some bad bits but they things you can live with easily and not only that it will hold its value but all round very good video good information
Many Ecoboost owners are now facing very expensive cambelt changes, many belts have failed prematurely and are trying to sue Ford for the cost of an engine replacement. Plus coolant loss and turbo issues, certainly NOT amazing!
@@stevieboy6286 yeah my son had one ,never did get time to wear it in ,he crashed it 😭😭 but was a nippy motor for sure ,so people having issues now ,not good buddy
6:10 nice music
I’m not sure wether to get one of these or a Bentley continental GT. tough decision I’ve been thinking about it a lot lately. Can someone please help me decide which would be more convenient.
Get the Fiesta and save 50k+
I freaked out when I realised there wasn't an 'easter egg' in the underfloor boot storage. But then Mat got to the glovebox part and I calmed down.
What can we say, we like to keep you on tenterhooks…
My b max is based on a fiesta, it shares the same gear problem when selecting reverse
5:35 You forgot the pause. Clarkson is more like this: "One of the best cars........ in the wOrLLLd."
"Inner Clarkson"😂
Switched from a Fiesta to a Polo and completely disagree about the ride, which was far better on the Fiesta. Also the Polo (SEL spec) doesn't have basics like a glovebox light and ambient lighting
Had a squeeze green 1.6 titanium great to driver & easy to find in car parks
I must ask U this,
What is a car? is it just a fun machine?
See the Fiesta is super flop across the globe except in Britain,
I mean Fords generally has the worst interiors, worst boots, worst back seats and interior SPACE in business, how do U guys forget all this and buy this,
I personally think Skoda Fabia is worlds best hatch back, not because its VW grup car, because its logical, good to drive, has loads of space, loads of gadgets, built tuff, safe, smart , I mean its a no brainer
"Super flop". One of Europes best selling cars. And a great one.
Nakke144
Sure but most sold in Britain, its Britains sales that accounts for majority of Fiesta sales, rest of the markwts its Polo and other sub compacts that are best sellers.
What I dont understamd is how people buy such a car with such a claustrophobic cabin, pathetic interior design, pathetic plastics, pathetic boot and boot design, stiff ride, back seats of torture.
Ponygt 662 It's great do drive, has fantastic engines, looks great, reliable, cheap to own and the interior is fine. The dashboard looks a bit dated, that's it. And the ST pisses all over it's competition.
Nakke144
Can I ask U 1 question, have U ever been in the new KA+ with 4 on baord?
If no do it and then do the same with Ford Fiesta 1.0 ecoboost or any other models, then comment me back...
The Fiesta is superb as a single driver car but as a CAR, thats supposed to carry 4 in good comfort, sorry it SUCKS big time, compared to Indian built KA+, pity on British engineering
I agree with Mat, it drives great but the rest of it is not so good.
The boot is really low, the back feels tiny even in the 5-door (I'm 6 foot tall), the dash design is not nice at all and the infotainment is crap. Even if you upgrade to Titanium you're not getting your money's worth. There is no reversing camera, the gps is mediocre but expensive and sync 2 isn't very good either.
Also, in the 1.0 l turbo I test drove, it seemed like the 2nd gear was a mile away from 3rd. Did anyone else notice it?
I swear I thought I was the only one that felt the whole "the car is little bit tricky to get in reverse" thing
One of my favourite cars ever man! The amount of good times I had with my Fiesta when I was younger lol
We'd ask, but… not sure we want to know the answer
the honda ep2 is better
ST line has a spoiler on the back? My base model also has a spoiler
Needs sych 3
Shame they've ditched the Zetec S model and replaced it with the ST Line.
Hey, by any chance anyone knows what rim is that on that fiesta?
Is this a good first car the 3 door 1.0.
Is this the 100 or 140 BHP?
Do someone now were can i buy the fog lights for this model ??
Can anyone tell me how reliable these things are? I am reading very different opinions. Looking at a second hand 100pk titanium version
Depends how well it's looked after. Which is kinda hard when buying used. Also the belts are expensive to change
They're giving them away; my neighbour recently bought a pre-reg Titanium with £6000 off list price
That's a great saving! We heard there's a website where it's really easy to save on a new car. Can't remember what it's called…
this is one of the fastest depreciating cars on the road today
Ford won't bloody fit the US Fiesta's Sync3 system in the EU cars... No wonder it all looks outdated!
Mazda 2 anytime soon?
Are these fiestas good for tall people I'm nearly 6ft 4
which car is better?? toyota yaris or ford fiesta??
the problem is you tested the stupid st line, sporty design yeah... but just 100 bhp and no extras the titanium with the 125 engine and all the extras is the way to go
I currently have a 2016 1.0L Ecoboost Titanium and overall it's an excellent car. It hates reverse though and rear coil springs have a habit of breaking but apart from that it's fun and yes even though Ecoboost engines are problematic for the long age the car is actually reliable. I just wouldn't recommend keeping one for over 100,000 miles.
Ecoboost are very poorly designed engines, many people are now trying to claim off Ford for the damage done by premature cambelt failure. Also initial problems with coolant loss. Turbo can be another problem
@@stevieboy6286 Mine's only done 38,000 miles and with me not driving that much i can't see it getting passed 65,000 before i sell it or trade it in. This is after keeping it for at least 5 to 7 years.
why a video of 'sega' is playing in the glove box? lol
Six years on and the Ecoboost has earnt the nickname Ecoboom thanks to coolant loss, turbo problems and premature cambelt failure. A cambelt change is a massive job costing £1000 or so, potential buyers beware!
...the worst... injector problem = new engine at 60k km...
Had a 15 plate one as a hire car for a few week, didn't like the 1 litre engine at all, slow on the motorway and barely got 40mpg which was odd, also sounds weird. The radio sounds good but the whole system looks shit and is awkward to use.
Crana I knew that 1.0 is shit. Haha
