I can't watch this video at all, the nostalgia is killing me so hard. I got him back in 2018 and it's just, wow. No pandemic, no quarantine, no crazy ex girlfriend, life was different and I didn't know it until all things happened. My parents gifted me this guy along with Bumblebee when I graduated to high school. It makes me so sad and happy. Awesome review as usual, PvP, you're my favourite

The new paint apps, really did improve it, though using the old Studio Series Optimus Prime tooling rather than the version (for whom the robot mode looked more closer to it's appearance in the first-two films) capable of combining with Jetfire, is a bit of a bummer, but the vehicle mode is the best for the figure, though.
Yeah it is a shame they didn’t use the SS32
I would've preferred ss-44 with the trailer actually painted
I have a tengwi version of this optimus and I might sell it to buy this one. This premium finish is much better, even though I can paint my tengwi version this optimus is far better then anything I could paint. Btw the tengwi optimus gives the shotgun you have always wanted primevsprime
This is made for the 2007 movie. We all know that version still hasnt combine with Jetfire yet.
@@heavyhitter5538 I do know that, but the choice of tooling really hurts it because the robot mode does not look accurate at all.

If hasbro did that on regular studio series, the stocks might go higher up! This is incredible!

The paint is nice, but I can’t justify getting that mold when the SS DotM Jetwing prime and the other one that combines with jetfire are superior molds with just as decent paint jobs
Jetwing Prime is very nicely done for sure!
The other thing I can’t get around is this molds backpack, the newer molds just improved it to a degree that makes the figures silhouette flow soo much better.
Instead, the SS32/SS44 has a less accurate vehicle mode
Honestly don't love this design but the figure itself is amazing, love the transformation and both modes are quite good. Thanks for the review man

I missed out on a lot of early Studio Series figures so I cannot wait to get my hands on this! Also we’re getting SS32 Optimus with the 15th Anniversary pack so it doesn’t feel like I’m double dipping buying the Premium Finish version.
I honestly love this guy. He makes great and formal reviews, and this version is indeed the better one. It looks stunning!

Oh well. Instead finally got to purchase one of my childhood dream toys, ROTF Buster Optimus (the Jetwing version that includes his faceplate and Jetfire so even better)

So watching this I was trying to figure out whether or not to go out and get this version of Optimus to replace my SS32 mold and from what I can gather the answer to that question would be no. This redeco does some amazing things in regards to paint apps but overall the upgraded appearance, combined with the inaccuracies of the SS05 mold, add up to an overall accuracy that is about on par with SS32's lack of accurate paint, but stellar likeness to the CGI model.
Finally got him and it was only $45 brand new. I thought I missed him again when BBTS sold out because I simply waited too long before deciding. I'm not missing out on the jetwing version either as that's been on pre-order and Target just sent me an email saying it should be shipped out within the next week.

I never thought the ss 54 was this big compared to ss 05 btw mine ss 05 premium finish and it might be the best voyager optimus prime figure for me because I like playing around with my figures for that it should not be a big figure so I wanted a voyager size optimus and this is perfect for me I really love my own 05 premium finish😊😊😊
As nice as this is, I think it is obvious that this is an attempt to milk the Premium Finish, before ultimately releaseing the SS32 Jetwing/Trailer Prime, so I probably will wait for that one to come out.
Also, as nicer as it is compared to the original one, it is quite lackluster - it's still missing the light silver on the abdomen, forearm, and thighs. It seems they just added a bit of gold rings to the joints and a bit more blue, but all the dark metal color is still quite blend to be honest.
Overall I feel like this should have been the standard release, and I expected more from premium finish.

@@PrimeVsPrime I have high hopes for this line too! Though it does seem hit or miss so far- I absolutely love the Megatron and bee Prime!! On the other hand, we have the VW bee with the wacky yellow, ratchet which is a straight up downgrade from Takara Movie the Best line (same mold but now the backpack kibble has a tail) and this new prime which is meh

Compared to the original ss05 Optimus, i feel that the premium finish version is based on how he looked at the start of rotf, and ss05 looks like Optimus with the forest battle battle damage.
yeah I was actually going to say the same thing. i think the reason his paint is so maroon and dark is because they were going for a damaged dusty version of optimus, because the original figures box says it is from the forest battle

If they would have done the premium finish on SS32 and fix the smoke stacks it would have topped the hunt for decepticon Optimus Prime
I am actually glad they used the ss-05 mold because my copy of ss-44's grill won't fit together properly. I have seen this on other peoples aswell. That would have ruined the truck.
I think i feel like im the only one that likes the 05 mould more than the 32/44 mould but i dont love the colours of the original version of 05 but this makes this much better
I ordered this figure yesterday it will arrive 18 days later but I can not wait to unbox and handle this figure I also have the original ver and I have to say this new ver is a massive upgrade and my only issue is the windows int hre robot mode ar so thin you have to be really carefull with transformation

Oh hey, the arms and chest, and some of the back are just like first edition TFP Prime. That's my favorite optimus fig aside from earthrise(and Ginrai if you count him as Optimus).

Love the review. Still think this mold is trash compared to like RotF battle blades Optimus Prime or SS38 and SS102 BB Optimus Prime. I hate that they seem to have settled on it.
Cant believe that were already on the 15th anniversary of the 07 movie, feels like juat a few of years ago it was the tenth anniversary. Also for me this is a must get.

I just wish that they’d release a new mold that would use the arms and legs of this mold but the torso of the SS 32 to give us the best Optimus and then this this paint deco on top of it
I think they should also repaint the movie masterpiece into movie accurate colors, I hope they repaint the mpm 4 optimus prime with this colors we have right now on the preumin finish studio series 05 optimus prime and put the flames on the top of the front like this one we have right now, the original only had the yellow flames on the sides, the hasbro colors version didn't look good which I prefer than the tarkara colors version, I didn't like that white plastic colors on the tarkara version, I like the dark gray on the hasbro version it looks way cooler and better.
I think for MPM4 they should just retool it. It’s sadly not a great figure

The only bad thing about this guy is the tiny smokestacks. I have the original version of this guy and the jet wing Optimus prime and they both have that problem. Another problem with the original Rotf studio series prime is that he only came with his energon swords, when he should have at least came with two hooks and two guns. Other than that, it’s a great figure

💯 percent i love this Premium Finish Studio series first movie Optimus Prime, so much paint on this Studio series Optimus Prime 😁. I am biggest fan of bayverse Optimus Prime since i was a kid 🙂. I knew it, Takara Tomy always do Premium Finish type figure, so i keep waiting for that type 😁. I will try my best to manage buy the Premium Finish Studio series Optimus Prime 😊.

the only one that I found with him is 2 completely identical guns, that is, these are 2 right guns, they are no different
My top 5 PF SS figures
1.DOTM Sentinel prime (because my sentinel feet snap clean off, and i cannot fix it)
2. DOTM Megatron (hoping for a better painted rusted megatron)
3.ROTF Megatron (he needs a sliver paint instead of grey)
4. 07 Ironhide (i know about the amaz 5 pack, but i prefer a much better painted ironhide and prefer getting him alone)
5. You guys choose, who would u like to see get a much better paint job.
5. Rotf soundwave ( my only gripe is that he ain't silver)

I wish they used the transformer 1 Optimus mold for this premium finish
they forgot to paint the front windshield outlines red. that's the only thing that bugs me on this fig. but the overall change in its colors is great. it doesn't look like a dead optimus prime anymore compared to the original 05.
The paint is so nice. Like others, I am baffled why they went with this mold. Surely there’s a reason…it just isn’t clear to anyone lol. I’d love to see this one compared to SS-44 Prime to compare the paint.

If you’re not aware already, I’ve seen from another toy reviewer, JobbytheHong, recommends a small drop or two of silicone grease for tight joints. Perhaps give that a try on SS PF Optimus?

Hey prime vs prime, if you still have a problem with the short smokestacks then you can by the go better studio upgrade kit which gives him taller ones.
