    I really like that guitar my friend! I have a three Epiphones, the Limited Edition Firebird and in the TV blue only one hundred were made. A Les Paul Junior that needed everything replaced, nothing was good on it. And the BB King black 355 that is great. I put a gold Bigsby on it because I had no other place to put a gold Bigsby and I was sick of looking at the box for seven years. You are correct in your assessment of those tuners. They slip or something and the damn guitars go out of tune on a bend or when you really dig into it. I put cheap locking tuners on it. That made it more stable. Nice guitar man! I never owned a SG and really wanted one. I was always a day late and a dollar short.

      This Epiphone was pretty hard to setup the neck is all over the place still not right, ooh you have some nice guitars there I like the Firebirds and the BB King model. The hardware they put on is pretty crap if I'm honest thats why I went off Epis

    I got one for $280 off Amazon. It was marked as used, but when I got it it looked like hadn't been played at all. It was basically brand new and didn't even have a single nick or scratch on it. I lucked out and got one for a good price. The intonation was pretty much spot on right out of the box, I only had to tweak a couple strings and it was near perfect. It sounds great through my boss katana. I never use the coil splitting but it's nice having the option. I have small hands so the thin neck is great for me. I'm not a huge fan of the glossy neck but I got used to it. I haven't really had any problems with the tuners so far. I'll probably replace them at some point but they get the job done for now. I'm not sure I would pay full price for one, but if you can get a deal like the one I got go for it.

    I tested it new in a shop. It's a really beautiful guitar, and good sounding machine. Price affordable. BUT, the frets edges were really sharp, and some defect in selector switch so that I didn't buy. There was a white one with perfect fret edges. So better test it prior to buy, because quality control not so consistent. Otherwise good guitar. I found a used Gibson SG Standard 2012 black, twice the price of the Epihone, no split coil, but real good feeling in hand.

    About 3 months ago I picked up a Vintage VS6 (SG) in aged cherry red. It's honestly the best guitar I have ever owned or played. Really nice and easy playability and the pick ups sound amazing, which are vintage wilkinson pafs (I think that are modelled on the original pafs).
    I have wilkinson deluxe tuners on it. Fine tuning is a bit annoying so may swap them out but overall it's the perfect guitar for the sound I'm going for, think Paul Weller Peacock Suit ✌🏻️🇬🇧

      what's the one thing?

    • @grooverstone9553
      @grooverstone9553 Před 5 lety

      @@theguitarmanifesto a lot of people confuse coil split for coil tap. Coil tap is for single coils, where say you have 25,000 winds around the pickup. You wind until you get to about 12,000, stop, then wind again until you get to 25,000 winds. This means when you pull up on the control knob to activate the coil tap, it produces a weaker signal/output.
      Coil split is for humbuckers. it's exactly what it sounds like - you're splitting the coils. You're disengaging the 'inner' coils and leaving the outer coils engaged, producing a single coil-like tone
      It's a great demo btw 👍

How’s the action, is fret buzz an issue, is the guitar pretty easy to set up and does it keep in tune pretty well and any other issues. I’m a drummer, so I don’t know much about guitars other than what I’ve learned watching CZcams. I wanted to spend about $400, and from my research this seems like the best bang for the buck. Returned one to Amazon. Total disappointment. Couldn't lose the buzz on 2nd fret and pickups sound horrible. This vid has only confirmed my decision.

    I don't know why but I have never taken to SG's. Nothing wrong with them really but the shape just does not do it for me. This sounds really OK especially for the money but would I buy one ? - NO ! Sorry for the shout but I have always felt the same about them and am far too old to change now. I see plenty of double cuts I would buy all the time (if my wife would let me) but never SG's no matter how low priced. Other than that a great run through especially with the screen diminished so I don't have to look at it :-) .

      +Rob The Meat Manifesto Typical gear snob. A real musician can make a 60 dollar ebay guitar sound like a PRS McCarty. It's not what's written on the headstock, but whether or not you actually have skill. If you don't have a favorable view of a certain guitar company, don't buy it. Simple.

    • @theguitarmanifesto
      @theguitarmanifesto  Před 6 lety

      I'm defintely no guitat snob 😂😂 I very much dislike Epiphones guitars in general, believe me I tried to like Epiphones over the years I have had so many I much prefer Squier guitars far better fit and finish. the offset guitars from Squier/Fender wipe the floor with any Epiphone. It's not being a snob it's personal taste and opinion

    • @jay_thedog_man5169
      @jay_thedog_man5169 Před 6 lety +1

      Legolas Greenleaf you clearly don’t know what a guitar snob is. Rob’s channel is all about reviewing budget guitars. It’s not like he reviews only Fender American Professionals or PRS’. So he don’t like epiphones. Big whoop. They’re shit guitars. Plus it’s his personal opinion. If you want to throw money in a hole on these shite guitars then be my guess. But think before you speak next time guy 👍😘🧝🏻‍♂️
