So I watched a bunch of videos about HOW to do it.
    I did it yesterday.
    It worked great.
Now today, I’m STILL watching videos, about repairs, that I already did!!!
    Does anyone else do that??

Are you really supposed to inject cleaner inside the housing. I was always told properly just spray the sensors not inside the cartridge it short out the whole sensor unit. So note that the sensor is straight down never spray inside the cartridge of the sensor unit just the sensor on both sides not far not close but safe distance when spraying sensor always remember to keep the downside of the sensor down spraying the Sensor unit.

I've got a question I hope you would be willing to answer.
Just put on a new mass air flow sensor. Runs totally better except...
*Engine slightly trembles in high gear going up a hill at lower RPMs.
*While idling, the tach will pulse between 600 and 900 RPMs.
(I drove this quite a while before I placed the sensor.)
Could my plugs be fouled or does the computer take a day or two to recalculate everything.
Or might I have some other sensors that need replacing?
    (2000 S-Type V-6)
Thanks for any help you can give me,

My father was the only person I've ever seen "mechanically" clean one. Today I cleaned it with that same cleaner when the check engine light wasn't on, but after I placed the sensor back and started my car, the check engine came on.
Also, I read that if you disconnect the harness from the sensor while the car on, it should shut off meaning the sensor is good and if it doesn't then the sensor is bad...my car didn't go off. So, time for a new sensor?

I would add to keep the MAF upright at all times when spraying, the puddle on the floor will stain so down with some card.
No need to go point blank with the spray, it's solvent.
Extra care not to drop it, easily damaged through shock.
    Eye protection and gloves.
If you have hands you can do this job.

My sisters Nissan Sentra dash light came on, in this case, I think it's called "service engine soon". So, she goes to one of the biggest names in auto repair and here is the bill, around 1,300 dollars.
What's wrong? Well, the Mass Air Flow sensor code came up (100 dollars to throw the scanner on a car, when it's free at the auto parts store).
Also noted, missing "clip" on air filter box, so, box won't close. The rest were minor things like air, oil, cabin filter and wipers.
So, they tell her, 332 dollars for the Mass Air Flow Sensor AND 96.50 to install it. By the way, Nissan charges about 100 dollars LESS than that AND aftermarket ones are about 200 less.
What's the solution to the missing clip? You got it, a NEW AIR CLEANER BOX!! 600 dollars plus 70 to install it.
She is stunned and calls me, I see the estimate and say B/S.
So, I take out the Mass Air Flow Sensor and clean it, it takes about 1 minute to remove it and put it back. Don't know where they get off charging 96 dollars for that install.
I change the filters, and find nothing wrong with the air box. 6 dollars at Nissan and I have a new clip. 600 dollars saved (I would have found a aftermarket for much less).
I reset the codes and fire up. I still got a code for the Mass Air Flow Sensor.
So, is it ACTUALLY BAD? Do I NEED to buy a new one (but not the 332 dollar one)? I took another look and what did the shop miss (or worse yet, created)? A large tear in the hose that goes from air box to throttle body.
Nissan wanted around 90, I decided to try a 18 dollar aftermarket, put it on, turned on car, and NO MORE ENGINE LIGHT.
So, if that Sensor still has codes throwing, check for air leaks before you toss it.
And find a more honest repair shop.

If the spray dries very quickly, could you reinstall the MAF sensor right away and let the air flow finish the drying process?

Electrical contact cleaner will work fine too, but great tips on cleaning the mass air flow sensor. But still important message that Petrol, WD40 (except WD40 electrical contact cleaner) and any water based solution will NOT work! And very good tips on not touching the contacts directly! And great point that it needs to be done EVERY time the air filter is changed! Remember using wrong solution or touching directly can damage the sensor, so DON'T do it!
