Buy a switch off Ebay. Save yourself some money and buy the one without a key or door lock cylinder. Junkyard switch works with your original key. I spent the big $ thinking the key was cut to the ignition switch, it is not.
Onefaststang79 - This is true. I found this out when I would mistakenly pick up my Q7 key and it would turn inside the ignition cylinder but not start the car. Then I would notice I had the wrong key.
Does anyone have the wiring diagram for this switch? I know the green yellow I wire is immo data but does anyone have other wires? Ignition 1/2 , accessory, key sense?
Did you replace it with new or used one? is reprogramming used one necessary or it works with out it? i have a used one with two keys and i would like to change my current one because it has no remote built in
Mine has all but quit. It still starts, but nothing happens when I take my key out. The radio stays on. I have to manually turn it off and turn off my MMI. Eventually everything automatically shuts down, but it is still a pain and an unwanted battery drain I'm sure. BIm going to have to do this soon.
I did this 3 month ago and no success. Steering wheel lock works (it worked even before) but the car can be unlocked by remote key, but doesn´t lock.I have to do it manually. So in the end - remote key UNLOCK - ok, LOCK - NO - only a few time red light flashing on remote key

Where did you get the pins to unlock the vent? Where can i buy them? Or is it possible to use anything thats thin enough?

I lost my keys so I can buy a new one of those key modules with the key and it would start my car ??
To answer question of switch. No you don't need to reprogram your key
