    Fighting an animal that can easily kill you, unarmed, in his natural environment and eat it without wasting any of it is probably the most honorable way of procuring meat or fish.
    People who are shocked by this, maybe while eating some chicken wings, should really thing twice about their morals.

    Octopuses/octopi are far too intelligent to be treated cruelly, it's interesting that this existed snd they didn't know how smart they are back then, but I think the sport died because of our recognition of their intelligence. Octopi are so smart that many nations have already or have in the works plans and policies for protecting them, such as not allowing testing on them, or not allowing them to be hunted for sport.
    They're fascinating creatures, truly. They were most likely the first intelligent life on Earth after all.

    • @corv1d770
      @corv1d770 Před 6 lety +1

      Also before anyone says it I'm not saying you can't eat them. Many places depend primarily on marine life for food. Of course you can eat them, but they deserve humane treatment at the very least, and protection in the wild from unnecessary harm.

    • @vixencreatives5450

      Stop Triggering Me it's a logical fallacy that he made. There have been several immoral acts that were completely legal, like dog fights.

    • @CowBeatsCrow
      @CowBeatsCrow Před 6 lety +1

      Well if you watched 22 seconds longer, he would've addressed that it was for food and was a way for people to continue eating locally sourced octopus after "farming" octopus was made illegal. I didn't feel that he was arguing that it was or wasn't okay. I think he was just saying something like, "Even though he is allowed to do it, people were still getting upset." What is "okay" to do is up for debate since a given activity is usually deemed "okay" by majority opinion just how slavery and dog fighting were made illegal by a majority vote (opinion). Chances are that if there isn't a law against it, then it is deemed "okay", passively or actively, by the majority. The appeal to authority fallacy seems to pretend that "authority" is some singular person who decides everything for us, as if we live in a dictatorship. In America, we live in a democracy which is run by the people through votes, which are effectively opinions. When it comes to slavery and dogfights, these things were deemed "okay" by society because they were allowed. Peoples' minds had to be changed in order to not allow them and deem them not "okay". Of course it works the other way around, too. A good current example of this would be how marijuana is being looked at by the general public. More and more people are deeming it okay, thus more and more states are legalizing the use of marijuana.

      Various accounts of cephalopod attacks on humans have been reported since the 13th century. Cephalopods are members of the class Cephalopoda, which include all squid, octopi, cuttlefish, and nautiluses. Some members of the group are capable of causing injury or even death to humans.
      The giant squid and colossal squid have some of the largest tentacles in the world, with suckers capable of producing suction forces more than 800 kilopascals (roughly 100 pounds per square inch) and with pointed teeth at the tips.
      All octopuses have venom, but few are fatally dangerous. The greater blue-ringed octopus, however, is considered to be one of the most venomous animals known
      Humboldt squid are notorious for their aggression. In Mexico, they are known as diablo rojo (Spanish for 'red devil'): local fishermen's tales claim that people who fell into the waters were devoured within tens of seconds by packs of squid. Wildlife filmmaker Scott Cassell made the documentary "Humboldt: The Man-Eating Squid" for the Dangerous Waters series of the Discovery Channel.

    If your going to hunt a more intelligent creature, why waste your time on octopi when there are so many other fun things to hunt that walk on two legs.
