- An Axiom Space engineer showcases the maneuverability of the new spacesuit that Artemis 3 astronauts will wear on the moon. Full Story: www.space.com/axiom-space-art...

As a child, I watched the Mercury, Gemini and Apollo missions in absolute wonder. I watched Neil Armstrong and his “giant leap for mankind” on a black and white TV (before we had colour here) - now in my seventies, my greatest wish (apart from caring for my family) is to live long enough to see “us” return to the Moon and hopefully reach Mars before I die.
That suit looks awesome, such great work by the designers and engineers 👍🇦🇺😁
Why not mount a 360 cam to the helmet, alongside with the high def front looking one.
Suit:: amazing!
Music:: seriously? WTH?!?!?
Wow. Looks GOOD👍
The overall design reminds me of a deep sea diver suit, especially the backpack. The lights at the helmet strongly resemble the cool design from the "Outland" movie from 1981 starring Sean Connery, where miners are working on Jupiter's moon Io. But a question: is there also a sun visor at the helmet bubble, similar to the Apollo missions?
Q, any anti static capability to mitigate moon dust clinging to the suit?
I heard about a newly discovered trick where they spray on liquid nitrogen then can dust themselves off
Reminds me a bit of the Martian space suits from the Expanse, only bulkier.
Frick yeah looks dope
Lests GOOOO
badass
So awesome
Gracias ➡️ ojalá resulte todo saludos 😊
Why does it have an umbilical? That seems like a regression.
That is probably just for the show. I suspect the "backpack" is not yet functional.
@@ibrewbeer Pure speculation, but I agree; the Portable Life Support System seems like it would probably be one of the most complicated elements, so it makes sense that it might not be ready to be shown off yet--this is still reletively early in developement, after all.
@@ibrewbeer no. I believe this is the concept. They will never be far from any vehicle they might have. Independently going for long hikes on the moon doesn’t make sense.
I doubt the backpack is functional (probably to save on weight for the demo), so they have to run air into the suit so he can breathe and stay cool.
@@TheBooban I'm quite sure that the astronauts will walk on the moon autonomously as in the Apollo missions, because the umbilical would be very hindering (and not feasible for a moon buggy driving miles away from the lander). And for safety reasons (failure of the pump), it will be necesary to at least have an auxiliary system which works independently. The EVAs outside the Space Shuttle were also not depending on such a cable or hose. But we will see.
The upper part looks like Axiom took much of the design from the latest NASA design. I think the lower part of the suit looks better than the NASA design, being less bulky.
Cool
Remember the suit in the original Alien movie?
I understand it's not easy to make something like this but I expected better from NASA and decades of R&D. Nevertheless I hope this one works as intended on many successful missions ✌️
It seems very mobile here on earth. I wonder how it would do in vacuum.
I wanted to see the solar shield! Ah well, thankfully there is an HD camera so we can watch the astronauts/marines fend off the Xenomorphs.
Savage stuff
Um thinking black on the surface of the moon not a great choice, unless they're planning to only be in shadowed areas or the night side of the moon . . .
in the video : the actual suit will be white for thermal properties required.
He mentioned that it would be mostly white when used on the moon.
What if they have an itch?
You just have to sit that out.
Buzz lightyear to infinity and beyond
Imagine it in white.
Still looks a bit bulky compared to what I'd expect, cool none the less "current day technology" you mean 1960s haha
Certainly better than what we had the first time we went, so there's that, but yeah. We still have a little ways to go in materials science before we get the cool suits we see in sci-fi.
Astronauts walking around all swole
Wystawa mody dla aktorów zwanych astronauci
The men never went to the moon.
Oof. This is all they could make? Yeesh. I'll take the old-school suit over this.
This one is more maneuverable and compact. For a personal vacuum vessel with full life support...I say kudos to humanity.
@@budgiefriend People tend to forget a space suit is just a human-shaped space craft.
0:56 _"i want to thank a designer of a fictional suit for RUINING OUR REAL SUIT with a rather REALITY-INAPPROPRIATE cover layer. Thanks Apple!"_
Yeah thanks!!
The fact the presenter "thinks it looks cool" just makes them look like another dangerous idiot who would opt to ruin a suit designed by engineers who know what they're doing. Now engineers have to come and REPAIR the suit to FUNCTIONALITY - after an artist ruined it.
@@TyrannosaurusSex And until you realise what's wrong - YOU lack a working spacesuit.
If you like astronomy like this comment
nice

It doesn’t even look waterproof
This Starfield promotional campaign is getting crazy.
😂 Next level promotional campaign is to go to the moon and plant a flag with the letters starfield!
LOL 🤣
he looks fucking toy that arm so funny hahaha he looks uncomfortable of that suit.
Ridiculous fanfare. 😂
If the old ones worked so well for all those "missions" why design new ones they never failed then. Why can't people just quit lying and tell the truth. Man has never walked on the moon. You were bamboozled.
🤦♂️
There was actually a lot of problems with the old space suit that's why private companies and nasa themselves are investing a lot of money with developing new EVA spacesuits.
Not a fan of this suit
Always a white dude.😮💨
Will not age well!
Fake Space is fun wif your money 😂
musk and the shareholders arnt complaining
and government spends that in minute
If you really want to complain about your tax money, go do that with your military. NASA has like less than 1% of tax money.
Human beings take in 550 litres of Oxygen per day. 50 litres of Oxygen weighs 125 pounds which is about 9 stone.
The Hell looks like the old NASA suits and they just changed color, still looks fatty, hard to move and not comfy look likes^^!
Looks like cave art.
what a ugly suit it is!
