Love this minimal/trip hop version
Me too! I think that I like it even more than the official studio version, tho both are great!
it's weird hearing the song being sang so softly. I'm used to the loud, raspy, bottom-of-a-well sound; hearing it so gentle right inside your ear is equally freaky in a very different, more invasive way
Especially with him singing in his lower range
thom yorke asmr
I am the key to the door in your house
That keeps your toys in the basement
And if you look too hard in your mind
You'll often see my reflection
It's always best when the light is off
It's always better on the outside
But if you stick with me we'll go far
The girls will fall by the wayside
[Chorus]
And anywhere you turn
I'll be there
Open up your skull
I'll be there
Climbing up the walls
[Verse 2]
I am the key to the lock in your dress
I am the weapon that you needed
And if you look too hard within
You'll only find yourself believing
So get yourself in the seat of the car
And drive as fast as you can
If you get too far inside
You'll find you came out where you went in
Thanks a lot for this, there were some lyrics that I couldn't understand and this made it really clear!
somehow this version manages to be even more menacing than the finished version.
the studio version is fucking incredible, don’t get me wrong, it’s in my top 3, but i don’t know… there’s something so eerie about this version, it truly feels like a creeping sense of paranoia. thom’s gorgeous voice is much more clear here, and it makes it feel like he’s really talking to _you._ the stripped back instrumental feel almost like impending dread, and that guitar at the end is so badass. as much as i love the batshit insanity of the final version, something about how calm this is… it’s like… there’s something wrong… but what is it?? paranoia.
Minimal / Trip Hop / Lo-Fi version.
Cool!
Trip-hop.
Really like the 'Climbing Up The Walls' refrain in this version
Really cool to be able to see where the finished product comes from, to see how it's getting there but isn't the same emotional rollercoaster (at least for me)
I know right! I love finding these demos and early recordings
Vocals remind me of ‘I Will’
insanely good
It’s got a very sultry The XX vibe. Love it.
I really love this. Obviously not as epic as the cd version, but such an amazing alternate interpretation
trip hop/lofi like meeting in the aisle
Never heard the deep emotion in the lyrics, until this stripped naked version. Creepy but in a loving way. Maybe narrated by a insectoid reincarnation of a favorite aunt or grandmother, or maybe an old torn and tattered velveteen rabbit, or teddy bear that was once your best friend in the world? Henryetta.🐶
That is such a perfect description
Ummm wtf!?😂😂😂
Thank you for sharing this! One of my fave versions already!
Beautiful
I love it!
Muy buena versión! Gracias
blur and radiohead making trip hop in 1997
i mean portishead and radiohead are similar names
that was awesome - period end of story.
This version almost has early Gorillaz vibes
I can see what you mean, this sounds like it would end up on G-Sides. 12/10 bands.
Nice, buenísimo 😲
a more talk show host take, really good
Thom Y0rke predicted Car Seat Headrest :O
Car seat headrest does not sound like this at all lol
Radiohead is miles better.
@@kidamnesiac6823 @Cold Deer they're talking about the "so get yourself in the seat of the car" lyric...
@@spacem0th Sure they are.
@@chesnaught229 agreed. they are.
It sounds like a NIN song
a year later thx for recomendatin
I knew it was early but not this early
🖤
Hermoso
Es una gran versión, también me parece notable aunque sea demo o lo que sea
Wow
The bass line in the beginning reminds of All I Need's bass line a bit.

Billie eilish XD
Thom y su adorable voz :")
This sounds like a Billie eilish song. I love the studio version but I think I almost like this better.
so it was way fuckier back then
Turn a desperate song into a chill one
Even demo version is better than the song from new artists
this is basically a portishead song
the ending sounds like last living souls of gorillaz, with that beat and bass
esta version es mejor
es interesante pero para nada es mejor que la version definitiva
ngl this sounds like a better version of the stuff on amnesiac
drake - make me proud
Thank God they didn't use this version.
How do you mean? This can really fit as a b-side well enough imo
yea, it sounds more like something that'd fit on kid a or amnesiac, not okc
its a *demo* mate
