    I have a 7.3 SRW F350, the tow rating is about the same as a 6.0 F350. I'd stay away from early model 6.0's but the later ones are fine, maybe throw on an oil cooler and some other mods for reliability. Some old guy in my hometown has a 7.3 with over 700k miles which isn't surprising for a 7.3 but pretty rare for a 6.0.

The 2000 has a front leaf arrangement that no one can explain to me. The sprins are not "together " as all of the other leafs I see. The are "spread" front and back. But , they are firmly attached at the bracket top and bottom. Any insight would be highly appreciated. Thank you.

    Well the SD are a bit easier to get the turbo out but far from " Take this bolt loose and Viola! its out" like this guy shows it. Try that on a 95 7.3. 4 bolt exhaust flange with 2 bolts you cant even see. Then add Rust and heat/cool about a thousand times. Then you have 4 10mm bolts underneath the damn pedestal to wrench out 1/8 turn at a time. God forbid you want to take out the pedestal also. 2 bolts easy to get too. 1 is hidden under the exhaust flange behind the EPBV valve body. The other one is on the other end of the EPBV valve body and no room to get a socket on it. If I ever have to work on another OBS turbo its with a Sawzall.

    I was saying that you can't buy a 6.4 as cheap as you can buy a 01 dmax like mine and make it fast. You can make a 6.4 run like crazy but the cost of the truck alone, I can build a dmax that will be just as fast. I have $20,000 now in my 01 dmax and thats including the cost of the truck. Built tranny, efilive,and exhaust. Thats it. And that spartan 310 tune is gonna chew that stock tranny to pieces if its ran for any period of time. And you're gonna need to upgrade the fuel system too.

      a stock 6.7 makes about 320/670, a tuned 7.3 makes about 310/675. So they are in the same ballpark. Diesel hasn't changed all that much, high pressure common rail fuel is what sets the new trucks apart. However, the HEUI system on the 7.3 can still support 1000+ hp

    Ive got a total of $1500 of performance in my truck. I bought the truck for 11 grand. To do that with a 6.4 Powerstroke it would cost around 35 grand. I will agree, 6.4 power strokes run like raped apes, but give me 40 grand and i can build the meanest dmax on earth

    Think your numbers are a bit off. Stock 2002 7.3 should be pushing 275 HP and 525 ft-lbs. Makes your gains a bit less impressive.

      Make whatever claim you want while you keep your head in the sand, but your truck is a turd. I had a ‘97 F350 with a ZF5 and 460 that I recently sold with 41,000 original miles. It was a fuel thirsty gutless pig. I also had a clean 1995 F150 with the 351, which I had bored & stroked to a 393. Both great trucks, but don’t fool yourself- they were and are no match for the power of any modern diesel, even this older 7.3. You’re living in dream land.

  • @6030diesel
    @6030diesel Před 13 lety

    that truck has never been turned on before to have the exhaust housing and turbine wheel that clean with absolutly no soot on it. ford has to be the worst company for cramming everything in the engine compartment so close that you cant work on it. chev is close second by having their turbo smashed in the back but not near as bad as the ford then dodge has the most room except for working on the rear 2 cylinders on the cummins is a bag to access.
