How the 2011 Ford Power Stroke Beat GM’s Duramax | Banks Speed School
To better understand how Ford is winning the diesel horsepower war today, Gale Banks inspects a 2011 Ford Power Stroke that was given to him back in 2010. He tears down the engine and walks through various important innovations.

If you’re a big man, you need a big truck, and if you’ve been crowned the world's strongest man 4 times, you need a one-of-a-kind beast of a vehicle. CZcamsr and professional strongman Brian Shaw (@SHAWSTRENGTH), recently bought his dream truck, a 2002 Ford Excursion with a 7.3 diesel engine, but we couldn't let him drive it around in the thin air of Colorado without giving it every opportunity...

The problem is Chrysler. Don't buy their garbage in the first place
Granted, if you're fitting a _tin_ pipe to your motor, ya got bigger problems.
I can't recount the many times I got ridiculed because I wanted to tune my diesel Toyota to still burn clean while making slightly more power
Master at hs work. You just earned a subscriber sir
Isnt that the reason intercoolers exist?
This is how you get a youtube subscriber, a future client, and a potential employee in one video
The good news is, the horsepower to drive the fan goes down with lower density of the air. In fact, in an accurately designed system, it should take the same horsepower to move the same mass of air across the radiator to remove the same BTU's of engine heat.
This man’s been the same age since the 90s 😂
You'd figure Ford would've known better than to use ceramic bearings in a turbo, especially in a medium or higher use case scenario. I'd personally like to see someone get that turbo (with steel bearings) working on an LS or LT based 427ci block and see what can come of it 😅
Legend
Ram should build trucks like they did in the mid 90s through early 2000s. They cannot be stopped
This is so cool!!! I never knew so much physics and engineering went into the whole combustion chamber and valve train!! Very fascinating y'all. Well done.
To the Excursion, which was, and is, such a badass ride.... I don't like the new black wheels compared to the stock polished and machined aluminum ones. New meatier tires, absolutely, on the stock wheels, yup, the awesome Bilstein suspension, yes... super thrilled about that, especially with it being Bilstein and not Fox, King, or any of the other "popular" shocks, especially when Bilstein knows their 💩 and creates some of the best on and off-road suspension, yet nobody knows they make off-road goodies.... and I'm of course, especially cool with the power and drivetrain upgrades.... just I think the stock polished and machined aluminum wheels with the better tires would've been cooler, fitted the paint scheme better, and kept it more classy..... it's mainly the black with that paint, a set of 16-20" polished aluminum wheels with 35-37" tires would've also looked good, or at least, better.
Very VERY cheap insurance for 6.7 Cummins owners! Thanks BANKS!
Tell me in the hardest way that I can possibly understand. This is how I failed in school but not in fieldwork.
Fuck emissions! A damn joke! Just so happens this upgrade saves engines. Well done Banks
so maybe i dont have the right numbers. and if you do please let me know. but if your diesel is 12mpg (non def) with a 20 g tank. and the same engine with def makes you 12mpg with same 20 g tank, but now you add 3-5g of def. thats effectively saying your tank is now 25 gal and you get the same 300 miles. also you say that SCR increases fuel econ, how? it dosnt provide power to the axle relieving the need for fuel. if your just saying that it burns the un burnt fuel after the fact thats not fuel econ the same way as being able to use that fuel for powering the vehicle. its a deceptive use of the terms. you may as well capture the particulates in a balloon and burn them at your house. the only reason your motor gets better MPG is because it burns more effectively in the cylinder AND you run it leaner. your getting more efficient use of the fuel into useable power. not unusable from the DPF. im not saying dont save the environment, but i am saying dont be deceptive
Why not put the scoops on top so they are out of harms way? Not enough air flow above?
could listen to this dude all day every day. he's forgotten more than most of us will ever know about performance engines.
I don't understand why you inject fuel when you go down.. is this intake??? If so. Why not inject straight down?
Fear-mongering just check under your hood and see if the bolt is loose or not
My dad is a mechanic and he had to do a full engine on 2 different brand new cummins in a week.
Gale Banks is the Prophet of Power
Remember folks, only gasoline engines need air.
You can easily prevent it by not buying a junky dodge.
If you have to add all that to have a reliable and well-functioning truck, then you have not bought the right truck.
Where's the recall action by Dodge?? Let them fix their own sh^%t!!
Elon Musk would be an exciting candidate
So how EXACTLY has Ram not been forced to recall and FIX all these vehicles?
I hope he has all his secrets wrote down somewhere for the future
Gale Banks for president!

Junk
Dodge is trash metal with comfortable seats.
We going to be lost in Diesel tech when the professor retires
Not to mention fuel mileage increase
I have it in my 6.7 Cummins thanks Gale and his team of Banks.
A man who has common sense
RIP Pedal Commander 🫡
Why would you use plastic in engines??
Simple solution, sell your dumb ram and get a Ford 7.3
So I just watched an ad
Open up the patents so everyone can use them
I've seen pistons in a industrial engine where the valve spindles were molten into the piston. The colleague who build the engine accidentally build the crankshaft 180° turned from what it should've been. The engine somehow survived in the test bench until it was at 90% load.
If they ever start making them for my F150 I will definitely buy one!
Smh. Ram should fix that.
A wild 2-Stroke enters the chat...
I have a Manual mustang Gt and it's a 2017 manual with the Performance Pack... But I don't have the different sport modes.. I do have track modes for launch and line lock, and my car has the 373's, strut tower braces, Bembo's up front and the meat and potato's but it doesn't have the premium interior.. Anyway because I have the manual I am thinking I will leave my throttle response alone alone..
Just install a roots type blower.
