- It was finally warm enough up here in the PNW to install the Rok Block. Here’s a little video of a basic install of Rok Block Tailgate Seal. This is a 2020 Toyota Tacoma with a 2020 Four Wheel Camper Project M on it. We are hoping the seal will keep some dust out of the bed when we re off road. Install was pretty straightforward!
*sorry it’s not filmed in landscape
Thanks for a no-nonsense demo.
Good job very nice thanks for sharing this tailgate seal
Your welcome! It has a been a great addition to keep the bed of the truck clean!
Awesome video! Wow nice truck bed setup
Thanks Phil! Thank you for watching.
Thank for this video 👍
Thank you - it's nice to see one of these kits installed. (Please! next time - shoot Horizontal video - not Vertical - that way we can see much more of what you are doing)
I know, I forgot to video in landscape!! I am used to posting on Instagram, which is always in vertical! It was a very easy install though! The weather finally cooperated here in the PNW!
Looks good.
Thank you!! Hopefully it does the job!
I want to see more of this camper shell you have
You bet! Is there something specific you’d like to see?!
Excellent instruction video. I liked seeing some of the adaptations you used. Especially starting at the center. Everyone else I've watched anchors it at one end and works across. Was that an original idea you came up with?
No, I can’t take credit for that! That is what the directions said to do! It has been a great addition to the tailgate, I highly recommend it!!
The adhesion promoter was not used and is a must before adhering especially on a surface other than paint, so you might have separation. Also, it's best to roll up and start from one side versus the middle. Only start from the middle on pickups with a contoured truck bed floor like Silverado, Colorado, Sierra and Canyon, that extends to the tailgate gap.
Thanks for the tips!!
So far so good. The directions did not call for the adhesion promoter unless needed on the ends, so hopefully we don’t have any issues. Fingers crossed and thanks again for your insight and for watching!
Good vid. I've been thinking of doing this to my Tacoma as well. Since I'm in Mississippi weather being warm won't be an issue this time of year. However, 2 questions: 1) I noticed you used what appeared to be rubbing alcohol and then used an alcohol pad? I understand why you would use rubbing alcohol, but why a 2nd time with the pad? 2) I see a marker in your vid. Was that used at the ends to denote where to cut off?
It’s been great! So the double alcohol...I didn’t realize there were pads in the kit! As far as the pen, I haven’t used it yet the edges have not budged!
Have you guys considered a full “Bed Rug”? Wonder if that would also help decrease the dirt/sand that gets in
We have. But we use the truck as a daily driver and haul stuff with it. I am hesitant because I am worried that it would get get too dirty and be hard to clean.
Not sure about the yotas, but the biggest gap on the tailgate of my Chevy is on the Sides when it's closed.
I'm keeping my eyes open for ideas how to seal those off.
I added some door seal in those areas of light that were showing through, it has helped a lot!! Any place i saw light coming through, I stuck it there!
Are there gaps in the vertical sides where the tailgate closes? I am planning on doing the same for the tailgate crease when I get my M; but my f150 has big gaps in the sides too
I filled the side gaps with Weather stripping seal strip for doors/windows. Has self-adhesive backing it is great for larger gaps! The brand is VITAM AMO, I got it on Amazon.
@@adventurewithinreach2201 awesome! Thank you! Can’t wait to see how much it reduces the dust/dirt. In other videos of the M that seems to be one major problem is all the dust, but if those seals you made work, that will be great! Thank you!
Does this helps with stopping dust and dirt Frome getting into the bed???
In my opinion, yes! It has helped a lot!! A pretty simple solution!
I have Tacoma as well, did you use the 4.25" size?
Yep! 4.25” it’s still hanging on and doing a great job of keeping some dust out!!
That answers my question! Thanks!
People who record in portrait should be flogged.
Amateur, I know!
