  • We hit the road for ten days in our Four Wheel Camper Project M and on our Toyota Tacoma and learned a lot on our trip about what worked well and what didn't. Here's a quick video on what we learned. On the trip we drove through central Washington and Oregon. Hit the coast in Northern California then drove up the Oregon Coast from there. We saw Crater Lake National Park, the Redwoods and lots of waves. On the trip we went through cities and drove up logging roads with this set up able to handle it all.

    Buy the Home Depot, Rigid Brand tool boxes. They stack, and lock together. You can sit or stand on them, and they can organize things very well in a compartmentalized way.

    Thanks for all the informative Project M videos! We decided to go with an OVRLND camper, but it's basically the same thing. I'm using a lot of your information to plan and get ready for when we take possession of ours. Can't wait!

    Was shocked to hear that compact off road camper gets up to 6’8” inside! Very nice family, thanks again for giving me the low down real quick yesterday, cheers 🍻

    Guys!!! Love the comments!! I am waiting for my Project M Topper (48 more weeks), so I am camping thru you and some others. I know you said it did not rain, but how did the tail gate seal hold up and did it keep out the dust as well? I also saw you had a netting up; where did ;you get it and is it the kind that has the magnetic strip in the center and closes by itself???

    • @adventurewithinreach2201
      @adventurewithinreach2201  Před 3 lety +1

      The tailgate seal is amazing!! No dirt/dust and I just washed the pickup and no water came in, anywhere!
      The net is the next video 😉 stay tuned!
      And, thank you for watching!!!

    How did you install the camper, was is it bolted in or the clamp? Btw I finally pull the trigger after long deliberation between Project M, Super Pacific & Hiatus camper. Went with Project M but the lead time is 11 months. I guess patience is truly a virtue.

      The wait is worth it!
      Ours topper is bolted down to our truck bed rails. I’ve checked them a few times and have not needed to adjust them at all!

    Can you please show us your discovery with the bed and how that works with the bed out? Because I’m wondering how you would deploy the roof using the raising mechanism if the bed is fully out.

    Hello I am seriously considering one of these. My question is how do you heat it

    • @lorent4998

      Look into diesel heater. They are very efficient and some models are easy to install!

      Diesel stinks! Is there a propane option?

    My garage entry clearance is 89" high. What is the height when the camper top is closed?

    Thanks for sharing:) Thoughts on window options available on the Project M. I'm leaning towards the large access door verses the large window.

    • @adventurewithinreach2201
      @adventurewithinreach2201  Před 3 lety +1

      Gosh, we toyed with both those options and then got the same size window to match the other side. The larger window might be nice for more air flow, but if you use the pickup on the daily and need to access the back a lot, the access door would be ideal. So, it really just depends on your daily needs! Sorry…not much of an answer to the question!

    Hey guys, I got one of these toppers and Im confused because every video I watch with it, including yours, the door opens so much more up than mine! Also mine has these two hydraulic looking bars similar to what extends when the top pops up on the front and back which are already failing to go all the way up without effort. Only had it 6 months

    re: the two rear hatch latches . Is it possible that while you are sleeping inside the Topper ; someone outside could walk past the rear hatch and push on the two latches and lock you inside ? Also , when you go inside to sleep , do you have the ability to lock the rear hatch from inside for security purposes ?

    • @adventurewithinreach2201
      @adventurewithinreach2201  Před 3 lety +1

      Hi! We have the single latch knob opener, so unless the person had a key, we won’t be locked in. As far as locking it from the inside, thankfully we’ve never felt the need to. We usually camp in fairly primitive places, when we don’t I’ve never felt the need to lock it when we’re inside. BUT with that, I am not 100% sure if you can lock it! I’ll find out!

    • @rustynail7866
      @rustynail7866 Před 3 lety

      @@adventurewithinreach2201 A pair of Channel Locks will help lock it from the inside.

    How difficult to raise roof? I had a 4Wcamper shell a few years ago and it was kinda tough to raise.

    • @adventurewithinreach2201
      @adventurewithinreach2201  Před 2 lety

      It’s super easy. We aren’t tall people and we have no problem! The outside lifts will probably need to be replaced down the road, but they help a lot.

    Do you need a separate license plate for the project m in Washington state? Thanks
