I think it absolutely shows his wisdom it just comes in the form of watching him talk about how much joy he takes in how Jen is a absolute blessing to him as a father etc by her focus on that part of her life. It is obvious though from his talking in other interviews that he does in fact enjoy being a father and may even grocery shop with his kid or run errands or be at the park without being given the 8 dollars an hour to do it of a babysitter. Barbara didn't use wisdom AT ALL in how she phrased her questions. I felt it made Ben look bad for having desires to have a professional life as well as for Jen to be a mom at home.
I think Barbara is the worst interviewer ever. But Ben killed it. He's a very, very smart person, a super talented actor, and a brilliant director for several years now. He went through some hard times and has been underrated by so many people for so many years, but now he proves through his work that he's definitely one of the best. I adore him !

I like what he said about being defined by the way we rise more so then when we fall. This dude didn't just Fall he CRASHED and BURNED but he didn't give up he got his shit together and produced high quality work becoming one of the best directors around. He said "our children" both times. The second time he kind of slurred the term, but it was definitely "our children." Don't know where your husband got that Affleck doesn't love his wife enough. He was very complimentary and emphatically (6:44) said "I got really lucky, I married a wonderful woman who is a great mother." He put the priority in the right place...first woman, then mother. Actually he comes across as a class act because he's also careful to say that his friends who sustained him in childhood were Matt Damon AND his brother Casey Affleck. He's always careful to not offend by omission. I've also noted that he never badmouths Jennifer Lopez. He has said in other interviews that he doesn't regret the relationship and that they remain friends. Class Act all around. He comes across as having common sense and intelligence.
Your husband as man, undestands the signals of another man well and he caught Ben"s failed act...and he was absolutely right. Ben got married in a hurry and not truly in love. That overrated marriage, shortly after this interview, ended with no turning back.
Her comments about Ben and Jen having a kid early into their relationship was uncalled for. To sit there and say in an interview "that's not the best way to start a marriage", who does she think she is? And good for Ben for cutting her off before she could even finish what she was saying and i love how he corrected the length of time they were together. He says they dated for over 9 months but it doesn't seem to be true. He looks uncomfortable in this interview.

I also think it is telling that Jennifer Garner was in two Oscar winning movies and Ben Affleck has always just focused on Jennifer Garner being a good Mom and never did much of anything to support her career even when he could have. Jennifer Garner did make Ben Affleck feel trapped and she knew he would marry her once she got pregnant and she thought having children would keep Ben Affleck with her but it didn't and she trapped him and he didn't mince words there. What has to be completely humiliating and embarrassing for Jennifer Garner is that now everyone knows that Ben Affleck really didn't love her and only stayed with her because of the kids and that didn't stop him from cheating on Jennifer Garner several times. I knew that Ben Affleck was never in love with Jennifer Garner years ago after how he publicly threw her and their marriage under the bus at Oscars with that awkward thank you and then his awkward monologue on "Saturday Night Live" and apparently a lot of people didn't see one or both of these speeches because it was obvious that in both cases that Ben Affleck was unhappy in his marriage to Jennifer Garner. I think that what has to be humiliating and embarrassing for Jennifer Garner is that the "perfect" family that Jennifer Garner wanted to promote never really existed and she dragged out their divorce for three years because she knows that once a couple is married for ten years in California that the spouse who earned more money pays more child support and that also was affected by the fact that they had no prenuptial agreement. I think that it has to be humiliating for Jennifer Garner to know that Ben Affleck really didn't love her and kept his "Jenny From The Block" watch during their entire relationship but, I think that Jennifer Garner brought all of the embarrassment and humiliation on herself and Ben clearly never forgot or forgave her for trapping him into a toxic and unhealthy marriage and that Ben used work as a way to draw a wedge in his marriage to Jennifer Garner. Ben seems to make an effort to spend time with Jennifer Lopez and doesn't use work as a way to cause a wedge in their relationship. I also think that it's very telling that most of Ben Affleck's prior girlfriends work and have their own careers and don't rely on his name to try and maintain a career and Jennifer Garner's worst nightmare will be seeing Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck happily married with successful careers and the headlines wouldn't be so bad if Jennifer Garner had more of a career but she doesn't and that's the problem because she has nothing to fall back on so her personal life becomes the only focus in the media. Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck learned a long time ago that it's a good idea to line up some work so that people inside and outside of the media aren't just focusing on their personal life. I think that Ben Affleck got bored in his marriage to Jennifer Garner very early on and that he wants a woman who has her own career and own interests and that's not Jennifer Garner. It wasn't hard to connect the dots and see that Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck's marriage was doomed from the start and that Ben resented being treated as a trophy husband by Jennifer Garner and I think that's why he humiliated and embarrassed her so much during their marriage and because she doesn't have much of a career and hasn't for years Jennifer Garner can't really defend herself and Ben Affleck checked out of his marriage to Jennifer Garner long before they split and his comments to Howard Stern and his actions and choices support that.
Ben is one of my faves, a class act who deserves better than some of her pointed questions and comments. He shows how to deflect idiocy and retort with intelligent statements that completely discount the stupid questions. His character in GW Hunting was no dimwit, he wasn't brilliant but he had heart and street smarts, a sense of humor which requires intelligence. She probably didn't even see the film. Go, Ben, Go!

He said "our children" both times. The second time he kind of slurred the term, but it was definitely "our children." Don't know where your husband got that Affleck doesn't love his wife enough. He was very complimentary and emphatically (6:44) said "I got really lucky, I married a wonderful woman who is a great mother." He put the priority in the right place...first woman, then mother. Actually he comes across as a class act because he's also careful to say that his friends who sustained him in childhood were Matt Damon AND his brother Casey Affleck. He's always careful to not offend by omission. I've also noted that he never badmouths Jennifer Lopez. He has said in other interviews that he doesn't regret the relationship and that they remain friends. Class Act all around. He comes across as having common sense and intelligence.
Your husband as man, undestands the signals of another man well and he caught Ben"s failed act...and he was absolutely right. Ben got married in a hurry and not truly in love. That overrated marriage, shortly after this interview, ended with no turning back.
Her comments about Ben and Jen having a kid early into their relationship was uncalled for. To sit there and say in an interview "that's not the best way to start a marriage", who does she think she is? And good for Ben for cutting her off before she could even finish what she was saying and i love how he corrected the length of time they were together. If you're going to criticize someone, at least have your facts straight.

I agree with anyone here who says that Barbara = a catty person at best in how she treats Ben. When Barbara Walters is listed as one of the top interviewers of all-time it drives me insane. All she's doing is antagonizing her "guest" in the most cunt like way. She needs to observe Howard Stern. I used to dislike him immensely, but after listening to his interviews whether you love him or hate him, he IS the best interviewer. He gets people to open up by actually conversing with them unlike Walters who is tactless and runs down a list.
