- Welcome to Matfield Pond
We detail a bit more on the History of Matfield and then on to the new reeds and planting for the pond. We go through the variety of reeds chosen and why we use them in certain areas.
The Matfield work party for the banks is on Sunday 19th November and the Parish Council meeting regarding the pond is on 6th November.

You and the team have taken such care in the restoration. It will look amazing come spring.
I grew up in petteridge not far from here and we used to fish it loads as kids. We also used to fish petteridge lake. There was once a dagger found in matfield pond and we were told it was a murder weapon from the 1700’s 😂
Great to see the effort being made with the pond.
Very interesting indeed. Really enjoyed. Looking forward to the end product.
How exciting, going to look so lovely!
Awesome video mate, this is just 15mins up the road from me, if I had seen the video earlier I would’ve been up for helping the work party, will have to keep an eye out for the next ones!
This is where I learnt to fish my nan and grandad used to live in matfield that was probably about 45years ago used to buy tackle from the little shop in the village love this place
Looks fantastic now so Matfield children can enjoy it again soon.

That’s perfect I used to love fishing the pond
Really informative edit. Thanks! Enjoyed watching, and got a sub from me. 👍
kids only fishery is genius
There was a pond in the new forest called Janesmoor Pond, and it was free to under 17, but a lot of fish died, and they band fishing, which should be crime we need more free fishing pond like this for kids it what got me into fishing and I've never looked back but too many of these pond are get fishermen kick off them even though we take care and have a deeper connection to them it not fair.
Lovely restoration is there going to be pike, Perch and other fish in the lake, is it done yet.?
Has the lake/pond got to be drained to apply the siltex, or can it be spread on top of the water to filter down?
Hi - we hydrated limed before, we do not use siltex anymore s creates too much weed.
@@rgfisheries Thanks for responding,i’ll take on board your advice.
I would love to fish it. Are there any vacancies?
