- Since winning the in Season Tournament, the Los Angeles Lakers have been in a downward spiral. And as seems to be the yearly tradition with the Lakers, its now time for a slew of mid season rumors regarding potential trades they could make. Despite both of us being initially reticent of the Lakers making another win now trade, we have both come around to the idea. So today we go through some of the rumored Laker's trade targets and give our opinions...

The worst thing that could’ve happened for the Lakers is the Jazz and the Rockets being play in caliber teams. Unless they play better they could legitimately miss the playoffs entirely despite LeBron and AD.

Personally, think that the Lakers shouldn’t make a big trade but something small because they’re giving me the vibe of the Boston Celtics back in 2022 when they had a below 500 record and then went on a run to make the finals it’s possible that they can do the same thing But my only concern is the coaching and rotations

It's a LeBron team at the trade deadline. They clean house with lateral trades, they win a few games, everyone gets hyped for the playoffs, they barely make it, and flame out in embarrassing fashion.

Going back to that IST run, when looking at the groups, the Lakers pretty much had the easiest group with the Suns, Grizzlies, Jazz, and Trailblazers, all of whom are either a play-in team or a lottery. If the NBA wanted to get the Lakers into the tournament, then that’s a pretty good line up to help them get there.

The trade that will immediately make them contenders this year is getting Zach Lavine & Caruso while also keeping Reaves. It's possible, by trading D lo, Rui, Gabe and one other salary filler. Might need to throw in a pick too but I think it's worth it if you can keep Reaves

I like a Lavine + Caruso trade. Lavine is a clear upgrade over Reaves and his defense isn’t as bad as ppl think.
Make a smaller move, maybe get someone like a Tyus Jones or (god kill me if this happens) Marcus Smart

As a Lakers fan, I don't support any of these trade rumors. I think the Lakers trying to trade Austin Reaves and the 2029 pick is lunacy especially if it's for Dejonte Murray. If Murray can't help the Hawks who have been the most mid team in the league since they got him get out of being mid, what do you think he's going to do for a team that supposedly has championship aspirations? And I think trading for Lavine or Derozan are terrible ideas especially since Derozan isn't that much younger than LeBron and he's nonexistent in 3's. If the Lakers are going to make a trade, it needs to be for Jordan Clarkson. The Jazz have been open to it since last November and Clarkson is a good 3-point shooter. He'd be someone LeBron could rely on in late game closeouts, the Lakers could get him if they trade D'lo.

To be honest, I don't think a trade needs to happen... They just need to play better and more consistently.
I dunno. I know I’m a relatively casual fan, but Christ. Darvin Ham just seems like a terrible head coach from my time watching the lakers. The rotations feel bad. It feels like throughout the season we’ve seen promising things from Rui, Wood, and even Max at times but their minutes game to game may as well be decided by a dice roll with how inconsistent they are.
The defensive scheme seems to be to deliberately leave shooters open from 3 and just hope they miss and that’s just fucking crazy in today’s NBA.
There doesn’t seem to be much of an offensive scheme. Like it feels like no one ever moves. People stand in a corner and the ball handler will do a pick and roll and that’s literally it.
That starting lineup he rolled out with Lebron, Cam, Vando, Prince, and AD didn’t even seem to make sense on paper much less in practice.
I feel like all these trade talks don’t really matter cause the HC will still be Ham.
Also if this team trades Austin I’m so done lol.

This team has a coaching problem. They have all the right pieces and players to get them to a higher seed but Ham cannot make adjustments or lineups that actually work. Probably the only thing we should trade for is shooting and improve our defense imo so like a minor trade works but that’s all. Darvin Ham is such a terrible coach like games we are supposed to win, we somehow lose them because he can’t call a timeout correctly or fix issues

LeBron’s offensive style is not good for winning unless he is going beast mode, which we all know he can’t do consistently.
Add in the fact that he doesn’t play defense, and it’s ugly. Russell should be handling the ball and running everything through AD.
LeBron should play less minutes and actually play defense. He can cook at end of 1st and 3rd quarters to get his 15-18 per game, but he wants to be THE guy and get his 25 points. The Lakers won’t win much this way, they can add anybody and it won’t matter.
Just wait and see, if they fire mr hands in the pocket ham and move Bron to the 1, they will become a solid competitor to wcf.
