I'm trying to decide on what wireless mic system to go with. Sure, I have hotshoe mics to set up on camera which serve a purpose, but at the same time I'd like something else as well. Before this came out I was looking at the Lark Max but am now trying to balance my thoughts between the Lark Max, Lark M2 and DJI Mic 2. Sure, all different beasts and the M2 seems to have extremely poor distance, but in all honesty what I'd need at maximum is max 10m or so and it should be fine with that. The price point here is very tempting though.
Was the audio with the phone adapter mono as well? Because I'd think that the inability to capture stereo with both mics on different channels would be an issue since my wife and I have somewhat different speaking volumes and dynamics and being able to separate them on different tracks would be beneficial.
Thanks for answering the question about mixing the audio channels- I was concerned when I read that in the manual (and I assume it also applies to the Mobile receivers). Not the answer I wanted, sadly (I assume you have tested this?) but few other reviewers noticed that.
I see that the Hohem Mic-01 and cheap $20 wireless mic sets all do the same. Perhaps people recording audio on mobile devices are assumed to want a quick solution, that doesn't need extra audio work before they upload the video? But it does make it a lot less useful to me- especially if you can't record on-device. its a shame it isn't a setting you can change.
Thank you for this video! Finally someone showed me how these mics connects to the Osmo Action 3. Did I understand it right that you used that 90° usb-c angle piece because of fitting receiver better? If I would mainly use these mics on OA3 and Android phone, should I buy these mics without camera receiver or does it give any benefits to OA3 for example? I saw you're using also that camera receiver on the side of OA3 with usb cable. Which way you prefer or you think would be 'better'? Now I'm planning to buy just the usb version.
Oh now I get it, I missed it the first time. The camera receiver gets you 2channel stereo. The USB-C version doesn't. Am I right?
Yes that is the case however the camera also has to support stereo input. And yes, I use the angle USB adapter to have better clearance for the plug.
The audio sounded clipped during the wind test when the boat was racing. Was the gain set too hight?
yes it was clipping because of the extremely loud windy sounds. I am shocked that it was usable at all. You can't tell from the audio in this video but the clipping was unavoidable. I could not even hear myself during the recording of the clip.
Thanks for a very practical video that doesn't seem too pitchy to get me to "click on links below". The audio coming out of the lark max in the second half, is there any EQ? The lark max with only one mic is the same price as the lark m2 and I would rather have the better quality.
Actually going back and forth between the end of the video and middle there isn't much difference between the lark max and m2. More bass in the m2. What do you think after listening to both on the source? I bet the CZcams compression might affect what I'm hearing.
@@danielbarakat No EQ on any of the audio. Just normalized the levels. Between the M2 and MAX, it really depends on how you are going to use them. MAX has local recording in the transmitters as well as the ability to connect lavaliers. But M2 is obviously much smaller. Also MAX support stereo recording via the digital connection whereas the M2 only supports that using the TRS cable.
can you use multiple cameras at the same time with the multiple receivers?
No just one receiver
Can you plug the USB-C receiver directly to the osmo without the adapter?
Yes you can. Not 100% flush because the location of the port but goes in enough for it to work.
Did you find it difficult to get the furry dead-cat on, some reviews say its a bit awkward
No it goes on pretty easily for me.
Could this be compatible with my insta360 x2 ?
I don't have one of those so I have no idea.
