  • WHY KELLEHER CAN KEEP LIVERPOOL'S QUADRUPLE DREAM ALIVE WITH ALISSON OUT INJURED. Caoimhin Kelleher put in another amazing goalkeeping performance in Liverpool's League Cup Final win over Chelsea (again!). With Alisson set to miss at least the next SEVEN games, can the Irishman fill the void, AND could he be ready to replace the Brazilian as first choice?

    As an Irishman I couldn’t be more proud of Caoimhin Kelleher. I do hope he stays and becomes our number 1 eventually. Very exciting talent.

    Kelleher is clearly showing hes a top top level goalkeeper. I think that we'd be foolish to sell him, it will come down to the player himself, if hes happy to remain a backup, then fine keep him in the squad, if hes not happy with that i see no reason why we cant loan him out for 1/2 years, bring in a backup, and when Alisson's time is up we bring him back to be number 1

      Its a tough one. Allison is one of if not the best goalkeepers in the world. But if he is injury prone you need a really good 2nd choice keeper. Its hard to keep 2nd choice keepers that could be the main man somewhere else. I think Kelleher could easily be first choice at a lot of premiership clubs.

    So happy to have an Irish lad at the club doing well, if he wanted to leave id be making sure he has a buy back clause in there, he has the potential to be our number 1 in the future.
    Ali is the worlds best but kelleher nearly 7 years younger, Ali wont be around forever and we might have his successor already

  • @pokeken
    @pokeken Před 2 měsíci +1

    no.....his distribution needs to be improved as he often just rolls it out from the box whilst Alisson is able to ping long balls up to the front line to trigger crazy counters.

    Kelleher has also gotten an increasingly prominent role in the European competitions over time. Sometimes due to Ali injury / protection but more recently simply bc Klopp trusts him and he wants to give Kelleher more reason to stay

    Kelleher could easily be a number one in most clubs in the premier league, but why would he?
    He might want more game time? He will eventually get all the game time once Allison moves on. Depending on his attitude or ambitions , he could get enough game time at Liverpool and pick up trophies.

    Kelleher made a few mistakes in the autumn and I recall many so called fans ripping his throat out. All I want to say go F …
    I don’t think we’ve ever had a better back up ever (at least for 45 years)

  • @FreekaPista
    @FreekaPista Před 2 měsíci +1

    I think Liverpool should sell Kelleher to a team like Dortmund or Leverkusen with an option to buy back when Allison retires.

  • @olavjorvik94
    @olavjorvik94 Před 2 měsíci

    Kelleher is great, and possibly actually among the best keepers in the league. We don’t really know, as he hasn’t played enough. And he deserves to play. Everyone knows that. But we have the best, the number one goal keeper in the world. I don’t wanna send Ali away, only for Kelleher to potentially start dropping off, and we’d regret it in a years time, while Ali smashes it in PSG, Bayern or wherever. A loan could maybe give him a run of 40-50 games in a season, while we got time to think about it. But then we’d lose out ourselves, with a weakened bench and our cup keeper. This should be his choice. To stick around until Ali properly drops off, or to go wherever he wants on his risk.

  • @geraldmoodley5615
    @geraldmoodley5615 Před 2 měsíci

    Best option is that Kelleher goes out on loan next season to play wrek in, week out so that he gets game time and build his muscle memory in real game situations..he definitely has the potential to replace Alison when the time comes but only regular game time as a number 1 at a loan club will get him to where he needs to be..

    Does anyone know what's happened with Alisson? He wasn't at Wembley and hasn't been at the AXA centre receiving treatment? Maybe Klopp has let him go on holiday but you'd have thought he'd want him to receive treatment.

    @Chamu1733 Před 2 měsíci

    To be honest, Kelleher is better than Allison in ball distribution, commanding the box and knows when to play from the back or punt the ball upfield. He’s a good 1v1 shot stopper.

    I'd say, if Alisson was to leave in the summer, he could do it, but he will not replace Alisson as first choice. If Alisson is fit, he will never be benched. He is too good. So the question becomes, does Kelleher deserve to be first choice, absolutely, just not at Liverpool, not yet. maybe in a couple of years. So what I would do, is sell Kelleher to a Premier league midtable club or so and insert a buyback clause to be triggered in 2 years. I think that would be the best thing.

  • @philblagden
    @philblagden Před 2 měsíci

    I think Caoimhin is still improving but he is now close to being a top keeper capable of playing for a top four team. He excels in his distribution. His positioning is really good. His shot stopping is good but he is perhaps not as agile or acrobatic as some other top keepers. His decision making has improved massively and he is braver in putting himself potentially in harms way to prevent goals.

    Alisson is getting into his latter stage of his career, I reckon whack Keller on a lot bigger wages to get him to stay and prime him up to be our No. 1 when Alisson eventually loses his world class ability.

  • @barrypegg3070
    @barrypegg3070 Před 2 měsíci

    To have a long-term future at Liverpool I think we would have to send him out on season long loans for a couple of years, or sell him with a buy-back clause. He needs to be playing more games than he is going to get as back-up to Allisson, particularly if (as we all expect) we are back in Champions League next season. The problem is then going to be to find a replacement back-up keeper. I assume that will be a choice between one of our youth team keepers or a more experienced keeper we bring in to replace Adrian (who I assume won't get another contract).

    He's not there yet, but he's going to be better than Alli if given time. I know that's a bold statement, but I don't see any moments of madness from him in the same way and in time as he becomes a wall he'll pip him in stats.

    This is why I’ve always wanted Kelleher to stay. Alisson is prone to the odd mid-term injury so Kelleher is always going to play games. Even with Alisson fit, Kelleher should be getting all the Carabao Cup and Europa League games. Once we’re back in the Champions League, Kelleher should be getting all the Carabao Cup and FA Cup games. Selling him would be madness

  • @magnusk9724

    No, he is not. Allison is still significantly better 8-9 out of 10 times or so. You are being too enthusiastic and not 100 percent objective and rational here imo. Kelleher excellent, maybe to good for a nr 2, but Allison best goalie in the premier League.
