This is based on IRL Air To Air kills that the aircraft have.
At first I thought it was in game. Still surprised 109 has that many kills tho.

Also most Nazi record were kind of unreliable. For example many rocket planes counted every demolition as a kill because the cloud covered the tanks and often did not check if they got the kill

@@Roof_Korean.yeah, that have done a lot. Less types of planes = easier maintenance.
Minus is that they had like 150 different variants of bf109 (~20 main variants, with others mostly prototypes or at most 10 planes produced) and FW190 having the same situation.
Different variants used different guns, different wingspan, some had MW50, some not. It was prediction and maintenance nightmare.
Also at the end of war they had planes like Ta152 or Me262. And that's only fighter/interceptor planes.
They had also heavy fighters like bf110
Also light/medium bombers like ju87, ju88, He111.
Those aren't all, but most of German Luftwaffe.
The same time they kept making new projects and spending crucial time, money and supplies on planes that had no option to have any influence on war.
For me, when allies started bombing campaign, they should keep simplicity of types of planes at all cost, because in bomber defence quantity>quality in fighters.
From 1942, they should keep this:
1. Messerschmitt bf109 as air superiority fighter with secondary intercepting capabilities
2. Focke-Wulf 190 as interceptor and high-altitude fighter
3. Messerschmitt bf110 as heavy fighter/long range radar carrier (not needed later as from ~1943 both fw190 and bf109 had radars mounted) or strike aircraft
4. Ju 87 (not produced new, only modernized) as strike aircraft/dive bomber
5. Ju88 as medium bomber
They should keep on researching jet engines, new radar technologies and keep making new variants of these 5 planes, every making them more simple in production and effective in battle (but not 100 variants, at most 5 or 6 production variants).
They should scrap things like V weapons, rocket engines or flying wings.
They should keep on researching heavy bombers, as they had possibility to build an atomic bomb and only heavy plane would be able to drop it (at least to 1943)
Also Germans had great idea (but worse execution) of "rustsatze" something like "field kits" for local mechanics to assemble it on plane and get it ready for another mission (for example change an fighter to a strike aircraft by mounting hardpoint (bomb mount)), but they made it so bad, that most rustsatze needed factory changes and only making it harder for maintenance groups to keep plane running.
So for me they should make it able to mount in local airbase or get rid of it.
The BF-109 makes sense because they were as many variants as there are stars in the Milky Way galaxy

My best dogfight I've ever had was in a Spitfire against a Bf 109. A rare 1v1 dogfight in which we spiralled around each other from high altitude, both struggling to gain the upper hand. It was when we had nearly reached the ground that I managed to get an angle on him and shoot him down. Such a long uninterrupted 1v1 dogfight is relatively rare, and I enjoyed every second of it. Made sure to compliment my opponent on his flying skill afterward.

@@ConcaveTriangle5761it used to have realistic matchmaking but it was removed because of the massive unbalanced nature of pitting certain teams up against only one kind of enemy they were really good at dealing with. So since the soviets used american aircraft like the b25 irl, they are in game. Its for balancing that russian planes like the yak 3 need to sometimes face american boom and zoomers

It’s worth noting that although it was replaced later in the war, the Hawker Hurricane was credited with 1,500+ kills in just the first year of the war.
yeah mostly 109s british had a mostly positive ratio on germans the germans got their aces against outdated russian aircraft
@@kieranlee9610 honestly most of those Russian aircraft were not outdated but were designed to fight at different altitudes and environments plus German pilots on average had a lot more experience and flight time than Russian ones.
People underestimate the amount the Hellcat has. It was a killing machine in the pacific war. I believe it also has the best kill ratio of any world war 2 fighter.
Because Japan's fighters at the time were few and far between and the ones that were there were made of wood and put together like crap.
The hellcat was effectively beating children.

The 109 was in service from the Spanish civil war to then end of WWII so yeah, no surprise there
One thing that should be noted is that German aces kills are ussually inflated to an exxagerated ammount (Same thing with tanks)

@@MrNecryptic I dont remember the actual name of the source, but it was a comparison between the reports of Germans and Americans regarding their casualties and kills, an the ones of the Germans, regarding their kills, were off.
Well I mesn the three best fighter aces this world has ever seen (Rall 275 kills, Barkhorn 301 kills and Hartmann 352 kills) were exclusively flying the Bf-109 variants. And there are dozens more with staggering numbers flying this beauty of a plane alone.
Numbers aren't made from aces they are made by the young pilots who get 1 or 2 air to air victory's and then get shot down

What people cease to understand, is the fact that the Spitfire was not the main plane battle of Britain it was the hurricane, which was the majority of the fighting force

The hurricane shot down more aircraft than the spitfire though.
In the battle of britain it did yes, but you have to remember the hurricane was already obsolete and wasn't used in great numbers after the battle of britain so its kill counts slowed down while the spitfire became Britain's main fighter.
I'll never understand how people can sit behind bomber gunners like this and not get anything too badly shot up.
To quote a random I played with once, "When I play bomber, my gunners are fucking Helen Keller, but when I try killing a bomber, their gunners turn into fucking Chris Kyle"

The Spitfire had stacked thousands of kills before the Mustang had even been built, and was still getting them.
I can almost guaruntee the spitfire has way more than 4000 confirmed kills.

A small reminder that there were variants over the entire war and the aircraft was employed by several nations
which applies for the other Planes too. But to be fair it was much harder to rake kills as allied Fighter.
@@smitfraudc3896well the Americans didnt have the P-51 when they joined the war and they joined in 41 2 years after the brits making the P-51 more impressive. The 109 was used in the condor legion in the Spainish civil war up until the first arab Israeli war with the Czech 109’s the Israelis used

109s and 190s as an American main, I find to be some of the easiest because corsairs which I play the most just out run and out turn them and in latter variants out climb them. When I ever I play a spitfire or yak 3U I just turn the game off

@@glorboflorbo133 what does my level have to do with anything? It doesn't really make me a person who "doesn't have the experience" to judge that. And I'm 5.3 in planes. I also don't only play one nation. I've also made it to 7.3 in Sweden too. Also how is calling me a bad player whose opinion and observation doesn't matter not hate. I've also only played a few games of realistic air and my plane feels really slow and heavy, like my controll surfaces are damaged. And I also have the swedish bf 109 and I wouldn't be able to make turns like that.

The Spitfire’s total points more towards 5.2k-6k. And most likely would end up being more than the P-51 due to the Spitfire being in combat for longer during the war, and where it served as well! It was basically the Sherman of the aircraft of WW2.

For anyone wondering, one of the reasons why German aircraft had more kills was due to them simply meeting more Allied aircraft.

Its very clearly bs, all bf-109 models are grouped together but the regular and super marine spit fire are supposedly different. Also, Germanys aces and regular pilots lied about there numbers so you have to take there stats with a grain of salt. (As well as counting air to ground kills against planes on the tarmac)

Bigger problem is that they operated like 30 different fighter aircraft
The nazis had very relaxed policy on confirming air kills. Pretty much if the pilot got a hit they could claim a kill. There were instances where the lufftwaffe claimed to have shot down in one day more plains than the allies had even sent up, let alone lost.
There's a reason why i love both the P-51 and the BF-109 and it's not just their kill counts. Their designs are just beautiful.

Makes sense when taking into account that German plane had to fight greatly number of enemies. Cant really rack up kills when there are 10 p51 and you are all shooting down the samee 2 bf109 sent to fight you.
Germany just didn't produce enough to let the allied fighters have changes shoot down unlike in reverse

German pilots have HISTORICAL recognition, both from their opponents and studious historians, and they don't depend on video game playing kids to guarantee their brilliant strategies and qualities as aviators. moreover, it is more than proven that until almost the end of 1943 the German fighters 109 and 190 were superior to the GREAT MAJORITY of the adversary aircraft. in addition to having the support of the Japanese in their A6M and KI-44. you want to find an excuse to say that the Germans were comparable to all the rubbish that tried to stand up to them.

Something to be aware of when looking at records is that every nation's air force recorded kills differently, and different pilots would record their own kills differently. Germans had a tendency to claim likely victories as kills and thus had a much higher count than other nations. Some aces who had very high victory numbers stopped keeping track too, such as Saburo Sakai.

For the Messerschmidt kinda expected since its the most produced Fighter Aircraft in human history and was there since literally day 1 but the 190 actually surprised me as it came later and was produced less than the 109.

Please remember. All sides were known to drastically over report combat kills, Germans being the highest.
To be fair, in the case of the Germans, a lot of their top scoring pilots had also fought previously in the Spanish Civil War, so a decent number of their kills are from that conflict

The reason why German planes and pilots have so many kills credited to them is due to 2 main reasons. 1 they were in a target rich environment and having planes to shoot down on the eastern front, western front, Italy, and North Africa as well as the BF-109 even being used in the Spanish civil war. Allied fighters only had a max of what Germany and Japan had built. 2 though this more applies to the BF-109 which was around from the Spanish civil war all the way to the end of the second world war.
The UK had the Hurricane early on then the Spitfire (though hurricanes operated at the same time) and planes like the Typhoon and Tempest (though limited uses). For air to air fighting Germany principally had the 109 for the length of the war with the 190 joining it later on. The US had the P-36, P-38, P-39, P-40, P-43, P-47, P-51 as well as the naval side being the F2A, F4F, F6F, F4u.

This really puts the scale of ww2 into perspective, in just 5 short years, planes racking up 2k, 5k, 20k plus kills is astounding to think the sheer amount of aircraft that were flying in the skies atthe time
If all type of aircraft are included, the list changes a lot
The actual list goes as follows: 1. BF109 20k 2. FW109 10k. 3. Spitfire 6k 4. P-51 5,9k. 5. F6F hellcat 5,2k
For some reason i expected more modern planes to be on this list but then i realise "wait most people are still in the ww2 part of the skill tree lmao"
