Forget the product, I am impressed by the thoroughness of the testing and information given. Great review!
Hobo, I’ve had my unit for 3 months and it runs 24/7 to power my freezer and small AC unit.
My issue is with the extra battery. I had one unit and had to return it. They did send me a replacement and I’m still having some issues with it connecting with the main unit. I contacted the company and hopefully the problem with be resolved.
Ask them for the extra battery so you can test it out.
Watts input is a major factor thanks to Oupes for hearing the call.
What an absolute beast of a power station, fantastic 👍🏻
I would take my Oupes to the mountains when we go camping. Thanks for these awesome products 😊
Nice review. I can see this replacing my gasoline generator with the 30A RV plug. Thanks for sharing
Hobo your cheese level is simply amazing (and I live in Wisconsin so I know my cheese). Never stop! LOVE your content sir! Thank you!
Thank you! Finally, a honest technical review for those on the fence about shelling out $$$$ for a large power bank.
this thing is proper and destroys all those tiny boxes he's pimping - those are BULLSHIT toys compared to this one
Got one a few months ago. Board burned up after using it 5 times. Hope you have better luck.
It will always and forever be pronounced Oupes. I thoroughly enjoyed your review.
Thank you so much for your videos. You have taught me a lot! Rev
It's not a pain in the butt to keep it in low mode!!...LOVE IT!!
To whom it may concern,
How long does your unit take to charge 100% on low charge? Is there a video for this?
Just what i need to run my truck camper thanks.
Hey Professor Hobo. Great video.
as always very reliable review sir👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Thank you for the review.
So Wise , Thank You.
I would spend the extra money for the Delta Pro. Great honest review!
Thanks Tom ! TAKE CARE..
Great intro sfx!!
Capt Rick says, “hello”!
THE 12V @30AMP IS GREAT FOR MY HAM/CB/GMRS RADIO EQUIPMENT
That sure is a monster. The BougeRV Cigs solar panels look nice and indestructible too. BougeRV also has a new 200 watt glass bifacial solar panel, it would be nice to see those tested, just don't try to shoot any bullet holes in them. 😜
After all my research I am going with the AllPowers 2500. All the wind I have in Bandera Texas I want to plug into a small wind source with solar!!!
Don't forget, or ignore, that the OUPES has more than 5000 watt hours for 3 grand, while the EcoFlow only has 3600 watt hours for 3 grand.
There is a value difference there that more than offsets the little things that bug you. They wouldn't bug me.
And, I can lift 112 pounds by myself. I have been able to since I was about 10. I don't need a scissor lift.
I like the EV charging option.
We need stand alone EV chargers for LFP batteries so we can take any battery bank to the local EV charger to recharge.
It’s fine if it’s limited to 4kw of charging speed. Would have to be able to confuse max charging speed in settings to we can fine tune it to out battery bank specs.
explain this in terms beginners can understand these things
Code still works, as of today, off the pre-Black Friday pricing
What's really funny, is that just a few years ago, we were worried about going over 1000 watts, or 1500 watts. And we paid BIG money for those products.
We're talking about not going over 4 THOUSAND watts! FOUR KILOWATTS>
If anyone is using anything like this to run THAT much stuff....well.....lol.....They probably don't understand electricity at all....
I just came here to see your review of it to see if it's good, or a POS. It seems like it's pretty good!
It's absolutely amazing how far these things have come in just a few years. You literally can't build your own unit for what these things now cost. Well.....if you REALLY knew what you were doing, and had access to EVERYTHING out there as far as batteries, inverters, charge controllers, etc, etc, etc....MAYBE you could build something even better than it for the price, but, I guarantee you, it wouldn't look ANYTHING like these, it wouldn't be very easily portable, etc.....
Thanks for doing what you do.
You give me the piece of mind I need to decide whether to buy something or not.
It just blows my mind that I can now get 5000+ watt hours for 3 grand....
Excellent review Sir. For that price, I could buy 2 of my Bluetti ac200p units and have 4kw with $600 left over. I love my Bluetti but it is great to see what else is out there.
You'd still be short about 1kwh and also be limited to 2kw loads. There's a use case for these large unjts.
@@HOBOTECH Good point on the load capacity. For my use in my van, all I run is a window ac unit in summer and my fridge/ freezer year round and the ac200p handles that nicely. If I were on the road in a class C, I am sure I would need a larger unit. Thanks, I enjoy your videos.
Thanks for the vid.👍did you do a vid on the bourge 2400? I've been waiting for your opinion before buying. Its coming out soon.
Let’s be honest…This is it!
Seriously, it checks all the boxes.
My pros:
- all buttons up front
- all outlets upfront
- EV chargers ing (yes, even at lvl1)
- RV plug
- Anderson for 12v distribution panel
- high solar input, sized for unit including expansion battery
- high battery capacity
This is what goes into my next camper van build.
My personal improvement requests:
- second 12v Anderson (I’d keep fridge and fan on one, and everything else on the other)
- quieter fans
- better, aka lower idle consumption
- better inverter efficiency
- longer battery expansion cable
- upgraded warranty
- lvl2 EV charging
- bonus : sized to RV form factor
- remote screen, wired
Unfortunately you did not give us any info on the expansion battery. Like capacity, charging options, outlets, how is it shown on display and app.?
But yea, this is a winner to me, if it holds up to road/boat life.
One more reason why I love it.
It’s the EV charging and high capacity.
If your average daily consumption is 1500 watt, this unit with expansion battery will last you 7 days. And with only 400 watt of solar, you are likely to be able to push a full 14 days.
At 14 days you hit the max BLM and state park stay limit before you have to move.
14 days is also a good time frame for fresh food storage. Also for fresh water. Also for waste tanks. Also for garbage collection.
So one way or another, you’ll be headed to town after 14 days and that’s a good time to recharge.
Idle draw for AC in a major CON
I think you need to look at the numbers for the competition - 88% ac actual performance while running - the inverter destroysssssss the majority of the competition - who the fk is going to let it run THREE DAYS it takes to discharge with nothing plugged in?????@@scottyz
@@TheCornucopiaProject-bd5jk No time to charge is just insanity ...and makes me wonder what other short cuts they took.
I don't understand the "you can't stack them" comment I just watched another video of this Mega 5 unit with the extra battery and the guy had them stacked. Cable reached just fine. Looked great!
I would love to have one of these oups generators. I would give it to my daughter who has a very sickly child.
What a quirky unit this thing is. Does a lot of good things to go along with those quirks. Would be a good unit to just leave in the corner of a cabin and be off grid. You had me laughing a few times throughout the review haha.
Nice idea, just to big for my needs. Thanks for the great review though!
I am going to wait on them to fix a few things.
Thank you for the detailed review! If I connect a fridge, freezer and sump pump (all located next each other) to this unit and have this unit connected to a 110v outlet, will the inverter only comes on when I lose grid power? the intent really is to use this as a backup for the sump pump, fridge and freezer. I am hoping that the inverter is not always running when it can just pass the grid power to these appliances. Appreciate any info you can share
Hold it until it says "you suck" LOL...I really laughed out loud... that got me
Hey much appreciate your informative and entertaining videos which solar generator kit would you recommend for home house hold appliances like a couple fries and stand up freezer mainly😊
The ones at hobotech.tv
Hey Dr Hobo! A question - ya think the Mega3 might have a less hungry inverter (lower parasitic load)? It’s only a small step down to 3600W output, so I’m not sure I’d even guess it to be a different inverter, but … If you’ve got any info, it’d be great. The Mega3 comes in at 84 lbs, so there’s a slight bit of help on the portability side. Thank you for the excellent interviews AND keeping it fun too!
I didn't get the notification for this video upload. This has been happening more and more with CZcams here lately.
You need to unring the bell and rering it.
Prof. Hobo thanks for this video! There’s a device from a company that I’m interested in, because it also falls into the “bang for buck” category but it’s available in Italy as well, but the thing is, I have a sinking feeling that it might not be on your channel for good reasons, it’s called the Flashspeed 1500 I think, from a weirdly spelled company called Vtoman, I think that’s how it’s actually spelled, without an “I”? I don’t know, it might be a too good to be true device, there’s gotta be something wrong with it, but not many have done medium term reviews over 3 months….
I read enough bad reviews on Vtoman that I scratched them off my list permanently. There are too many better choices than saving a few bucks for faulty components.
Any fuses or breakers to protect wires from disaster or completely relying on the charge controller and inverter to play nice in the event of a failure? Or will it burn the house down?
I love when my Solar Generator tells me I SUC!
I’m just here to comment for the algorithm.
Please complete review by testing the extra battery pack.
I’m on the fence of which 3600 to 4000 unit to purchase. Would it be better to buy two units and put them together? Which unit to best to run my home in case of power loss? Which unit do you think is the best? Thanks for your videos!
You could have a tailgate party while waiting to charge from the EV station...LOL
Or when traveling, use that time to get real rest. And the EV charging option would most likely only be used in clouded or rain conditions, in the winter.
You made me more confident in the choice that I made. Hint it wasn't an oops.
Couldnt get link to work love ur videos
🤔 not sure if this is the way to go. Or build a solar system using separate parts. In case something fails. If these can be easily repaired then it's probably an overall win.
Hobo, get an Anker Solix C1000. Let's see a review on that.
I can power my ham radio directly with a 20 amp power that is a plus
Question??? When charging the Mega5 does it stop charging & then restart charging over & over?
Can you please explain the "don't go below 20% and only charge to 80%"? Dosen't this mean for max life you're losing 40% of usable power? There's so little info about this. Im sure your viewers would be interested. Thank you!
If you want max life 7000+ cycles keep it 20-80% otherwise just use it.
From what I have had explained to me in simpler terms that I could understand. Never let these power stations discharged to zero. So you basically don't want to drain that battery! Keep an eye on it and try very hard not to go lower than 20% but definitely don't let it run out. The 80 percent is make sure it has 80% or more for storage. I have mine hooked up to a solar panel not this unit though 24/7. And when the Sun starts making me free electricity it automatically turns itself on and starts charging usually by noon I have a fully charged battery. That is when I use my pad through charging to run power hungry devices cuz until about 3:30 it charges really good. I don't just have mine for emergency use. I try to plug anything I use in the house into it instead of using electricity that I have to pay for.
Obviously my full size stove won't work on it so I bought an induction hot plate and I use that. I run my full size washing
machine on it as well but not my dryer.
I hope this helped explain it to you.
Are you gonna do a review of the Mega 3 I'm curious if the inverter is similar.
Hi, I hope you can answer a ?? About Mega 3 or even mega5. When I charge my Mega3 on Low Ac outlet. It keeps surging. Is this normal? NO surging when charging on High or solar. Thanks 😊
I wish you could split phase 2 and get 8000 watts(240W @ 30a) and 10KWH
Also a little longer cable so they could be stacked. With 2 Mega 5s and 2 expansion batteries you could get almost 5K of solar and have 20kwh of available power.
Bluetti and Ecoflow both offer that.
CAN I USE A 12V TO 48V STEP UP CONVERTER TO CHAGE THIS FASTER THAN 8 AMPS? I just saw a 12v to 48v 1400 watts step up on amazon. I wonder if this would work to fast charge with alternator using P. V. input. Maybe plug this to a solar combiner box. Would this work?
Is this better than the Hyolis Apollo 5k power station?
Will u plz review the mega 3
Can I power a vacuum or a pressure washer upto 20 mins a time ? Both at separate times. Both 2000w
What is the surge wattage? Most have the base of like 4,000 surge to 6-8,000 example. If this is the case, why does it crap out at 4,000? Is it anything past a brief surge over 4,000 kills it? Thanks
At one of your recent reviews I purchased the one you recommended it started with a B and was supposed to be released September 10. I still have not received it. Can you help me?
Hey Hobotech, could you stack the mega 5 on top of the mega battery?
Do you know if they added state of charge in 2024?
What’s the music at 2:15?
Anything else on the market that can beat this price that has this much output ?
Question I got a customer complaining about voltage drop when powering 1300 watts from a pecron LFP 600 the voltage drop from 220 volts too 190 from output nr 2 I think this normal, but my customer does not Agree, can someone please explain?..
Question I have 400 watt solar panels that are 45 volt VOC and 10 amps MPP. How can I do two strings of this it would be over amperage Of the 15 amps maximum on this machine or am I missing something? Higher wattage residential solar has higher amperage I saw your review and liked it I was very confused about 2400 W with 400 watt solar panels hooked in series parallel it would not work cuz the amperage would be 20 amps correct
If I was going to use this in an off the grid application, can I build a custom shelf about the battery extender and put the beast above it? I would go over kill and make the shelf able to hold way more then 120 lbs.
Sure as long as the cable reaches.
@HOBOTECH Awesome thank you.
Thanks for this review. Not every reviewer can be trusted. I was interested in this, but now it's a hard pass.👍🏾Thanks again.
You are funny!
How does it behave or can it survive high heat zones? Such as Texas where it gets to up to 109-110 fahrenheit?
It has a cooling system. If you keep it within operating temp it's fine.
Closed captioning had the weight as 1122 pounds. That might discourage potential hearing impaired buyers.
I’m one of those hearing impaired fans
Dang, Hobotech is really strong. I wonder what his power level is.
If you look at the screen without CC you'll clearly see 112.5 lb in a text overlay.
Now I have 4!...LOVE MY OUPES!.Two1800's..Two Mega 5's!!!
I knew I shouldn’t have skipped leg day
I need a 4-5K inverter to run my kitchen and I want to take the battery in and out of the van to recharge it. But I don't want to lug 100+ lbs up and down stairs. Is there a unit that size with a separate battery? Or should I look into 2-2400+ units with batteries built in?
Look at the Point Zero Energy , Titan generator, it will run all your needs and is all seperate peices, unit, batteries, chargers. This is a super solid unit, each piece ways 30lbs, infinitely expandable. Biggest difference, it's a low frequency inverter, not a Chinese high frequency inverter,as you see when he reaches its limit, it cuts your voltage down, low frequency doesnt,it's full power continuous, and last years longer. Titan idle consumption is under 15w
I’m seeing Eco flow has an upcoming delta pro ultra, any word or speculation if it could be backwards compatible / able to connect to the original delta pro? I’m guessing probably not but this will make the difference on me buying it as I’m sure it will for many others
Delta Pro designed in 2020 would be a miracle if they were compatible.
Yeah I’d guess that would be the case, hopefully the pros already on the market will go down in price. Can’t wait to see what new innovations they continue with
I’ll be buying a couple of these, thanks to you. Oh, by the way, I was wondering if you could help me? Are the advantages (or disadvantages) to connecting a 2000 watt pure sine 12 volt inverter to a solar generator instead of the typical 12 volt car battery? Thank you for your reviews over the years.
You don't need a separate inverter for these solar generators they are built inside of the unit that's why they are considered an all-in-one unit.
@@backroadsusa6915 Thank you. Of course, you’re right. Part of the reason I bought a solar battery generator with a pure sine was so I could run a computer or my CPAP from it, if needed. But I was just wondering why I couldn’t use the 12 volt outlet from the generator to run a separate 2000 watt pure sine inverter which would give me access to more 110 volt outlets? Do you have any ideas on why or why not that would work? Electronics aren’t my forte’ and I haven’t had much luck with online searching.
@@dougzirkle5951 I just think that would be over redundant I'm not an electrician either. But on my solar generator if I want more plugs I just use the power strip. I don't buy cheap power strips though I buy good power strips.
The power still coming from the same inverter inside your solar generator.
Very interesting but that idle AC Inverter consumption is bad. And yes the EV charging rate is silly.
I'm waaaaay too late to this game, but I would have loved seeing if this thing could run a 13500 BTU AC that's usually standard on an RV through the RV plug. I assume it can, but seeing it in action would have been cool.
Of course it can. I wasn't dragging 110lb a 100 yards and back across gravel to my RV for a demo.
@@HOBOTECH Can't say I blame you.
No pun intended?
@@mikegreene8461 Puns always intended! Not always spotted.
Question? is all these fast charging Ac inputs BAD FOR THE BATTERYS ad they get SEVERLY STRESSED BY ALL THE wattage input??? I have a different model and it can go 0 to %100 in 1 hour! 1500 plus watts i put 🤔🤔🤔
1C or above charge rates will reduce battery life. This product only does 0.35C rate at max and makes virtually no difference.
Will you be doing the Anker Solix F3800 soon? Not even considering it until I see a review from you.
Seems like Anker is sending a ton of units out…but no one with your technical knowledge and tests.
Then I suppose you should never consider it.
@@HOBOTECH Done! Anker raising funds on Kickstarter 👎🏼 and pulling a vintage Jackery sending it off to “Anker friendly” CZcamsrs I guess 🤷🏻♂️?
Is this the Actual one there selling now or is this just for improvement possibilitys???
It's available now
On the oupes website FAQ it states that 3rd party solar panels must be within 150V. Does this mean the total amount of solar panels can not exceed 150V? Thank you
Looks like even hoboTech is stumped on this topic.
Hoping to see you do a review for the Mega3 that was just released. I’m on the fence between that and the Anker Solix F 2000. Needing something more mobile.Anker with the extra battery is a good deal currently for prime days…Love your reviews!
I believe with the Mega 3 you can get 2 and connect them! Getting a 7200 watt inverter 240V @ 30a !
So if the price is close ($1399 now for the Anker 767)
I would choose the Oupes Mega 3
HoBo I have a question when charging the unit is it suppose to be cutting off while charging up and starting again they say because of the electric grid going up and down Thanks for your videos
Hi. Can you please assist me . I see there is a similar product this called Souop my question is , are they similar or not?
Never heard of it. I wouldn't trust a knock off.
Holy Mother of pearl, I clicked like at 666!! Not sure if I'm dead or the person before me. Thanks Professor
Day 2 trying to link mega5 to expansion battery and no luck. Please test the mega5 expansion battery. I’m surprised you didn’t do it for your review of the product.
I’m having a hard time contacting their technical support Dept.
I think they need to go back to the drawing board and modify🤔🤔🤔
I don't understand why all the manufacturers are going ever bigger on the inverters. Is it just a "mines bigger than yours" kind of thing? Do people buying these really not understand what they're getting for their $3300-6000? Sure you can run your electric clothes dryer.........for 1 load, before your battery is dead, but if you're really without power, maybe for a few days, it seems like it would make more sense to moderate your consumption and limit use of high drain appliances. Then a 2000w inverter would make a lot more sense and use less energy while idling.
It is a good thing that "all" those choices are available.
HOPE you're getting paid for all those FBMP commercials I've been seeing
What's a fbmp? I only get paid for the ads folks watch.
I don`t understand why this unit uses so much battery life just sitting doing nothing.
What causes the loss?
DC to AC conversion generates heat (waste).
Thank you!@@HOBOTECH
Goal Zero -- ZERO innovation since they started this evolution into electric generators. To the best of my knowledge, they were the first. 2 companies broke off of them and moved from Utah to Idaho. ALL 3 are overpriced and 5 years behind technology. I agree with HoboTech 1000%
All the links are down. Did this turn out to be vaporware?
