the sound of original 40's brings back allot of memories.
The original 40 sounds good but that super 10 is where its at.
I was really surprised by the hushpower round mufflers. Really nice deep tone.
Here's a breakdown list of the mufflers:
Open headers - 0:45
70 Series - 1:10
Super 50 Series - 1:33
Hushpower Pro Series - 2:00
Super 40 - 2:35
Hushpower Shorty Series - 3:05
Original 40 Series - 3:40
Super 10 Series - 4:10
1:00 his neighbors must love him.
I loved how the Hushpower pros and the 10 sound on that engine.
man this is what i have wanted to see and hear since i was about 14 years old 30 now thanx guys for taking the time
FINALLY SOMEONE WITH THE BRAINS TO SOW AND TELL HIS PRODUCT YOU JUST MADE MY YEAR!!!! THANKYOU 67 ELCOMINO IVE BEN GOING ALL OVER TO CAR SHOWS AND MUFFLER SHOPS TO FIND THE SOUND I WANT THE 406 EVEN CHANGED MY MIND OF THE ENGINE I WANT THANKS
This video so amped I immediately bought a pair of 40 series after watching it!
my favorite was open headers haha ;D
Nice video to show the differences. Thanks for posting this to showcase them.
This is exactly what I was looking for to compare - thanks!
Nice job guys. Thanks for taking the time to do this..
I like the hushpower sound very mean...
Me too it had more roar and less whistle. It has more of a performance tone.
10 and original 40
Bingo!
I have the 10 series on my 1988 5.0 LX. I have Hooker full lengths and a catless h-pipe as well. It sounds amazing. Extremely loud but also very, very deep. Not raspy at all like those junk SLP Loudmouths. Even before I had all the work done to my car the 10 series sounded great. If you're looking for the loudest mufflers around that also have that deep rumble, nothing compares to the 10 series!
Amazing video bud! Love the exhaust tones man. I have the series 10 on my 347 stroker =))
Hush Power sounded good. Very clean and crisp.
I liked the super 10. That one was the best. Sounded more aggressive and beefy.
Like the Super 10 Series! I have Super 40's on my 1970 GTO and a Super 44 on my 2004 Jeep GC 4.7 V8. I love the sound every Flowmaster gives. The perfect tone with the right amount of volume. I will always buy Flowmasters for any car I want to change the exhaust on.
Thanks for this vid : we can really listen the difference and it's good you propose a muffler which not make too much noise.
Love the sound of that motor!!! Thanks for the amazing video
Awesome test!
OG 40 series has a great sound! That motor is SICK!
all of the mufflers sounded awesome. i have a 50 series delta flow on my 1988 chevy 4.3 and it sounds awesome for a V6
I have the 40 series flowmaster on my chevy s-10 1998 & sounds good & I love it :)
its weird how much different an engine under load sounds
Nice vid with a real life engine. I like the hush power mufflers. My neighbors didn't much care for my Borla's on the last chevy, I don't care for the factory muffler nor do I care what my neighbors think.
Flowmaster original 40 all day!!!
They all sounded great. If you really listen, there is a different rumble to each one at idle. I put the 40 original on my 3.5 V6 and I am actually stunned that it doesn't sound like a bumble bee. It sounds great and I can hear how the exhaust flows smoother, listening with my window down :) Nice car man!! Engine too ;)
I like the open tubes! lol
Thanks allot! helped me pick out what i wanted!
it is more the tone of a sound than the level that is important, bigger is the muffler casing , lower is the tone and more pleasant is the overall sound
always remember that noise is an important cause of driving fatigue
Original 40 Series FTW
thanks for make this video I like the original 40
Great comparison, Thank you:-)
Super 10 is my choice.. bad ass!! That and a thumpr cam is next on my list for my C3 vette.
Super 10 by far...
You read my mind!
Thanks that did help me alot
By the way, from the ones you tested, I liked the original 40 the best .
very good job...definately shows the different tones.
I wish that you guys might test some things out on a ford 302 from the 70's I think that would be worth seeing but I kinda want to find out because I have a 1976 ford F100 custom with the 302 in it but never done anything to it yet it's all stock
Hi Flowmaster! I love the new hushpower pro series mufflers! Love them so much I put them on my 2003 BMW M5. I have uploaded videos of my set up. Headers, custom x pipe, no cats, no resonators, and two 3" in 3" out Flowmaster Hushpower Pro series mufflers. Thanks for the awesome products!
Im still a fan of the flowmaster original 40 series.
Saving the best for last Super 10 :-)
Thank you for the demo,I was going to buy some dynomax but I don't think so I really like the
Hushpower Shorty Series
Very helpful thank you
Excellent video ... Thank you
Awesome vid!! Should do one with the 60 series for 4 bangers maybe a turbo ecotec one lol I could listen to flowmaster all day. Had a super 40 on my truck sounded amazing!!.
Awsum video very helpfull thank you
nice video. just what i was looking for to decide whether to keep the original 40s or change.
Holy smokes that motor sounds mean as hell
i have a 1997 Sonoma 4.3l with the 70 series cut off just after the cab. Sounds Amazing! :)
After this video I'm thinking about getting the original 40 series for my 66 c10
straight headers!
should have used a mildly built 350 with a slight cam because thats what the market out there and most of the customers own are slightly built or stock 350s with bolt ons
HUSHPOWER PRO SERIES “SHORTY” is my favourite sound. And that comes from an AUSSIE
How about doing the black widow mufflers compared to the flowmaster or any other muffler
Can't go wrong with any of those choices.
excellent video, the only thing is missing is the DB meter
beast of sound!
Love this video.
Thanks for this video! Very difficult to judge true sound/volume levels over camera microphones, anyone know how the 3 inch Flowmaster Pro Series 12" (shorty) muffler would compare in volume/tone to the Super 50 muffler? I was told pro series was moderate vs super 50 being mild, but when I put the 16" pro series muffler on, it was almost as quiet as stock (much quieter than the super 50). Just wondering if anyone could tell me if the shorty pro series would be quieter, the same, or louder as the super 50. Thanks!
The Pro Series "Shorty" will be a bit louder than the longer cased version and the Super 50. On most applications, you will not experience a huge difference in tone between the short and longer versions. You didn't mention what vehicle you have and how aggressive of a muffler that you're looking for. Please give us a call at 707-544-4761 and give us some additional details and we'll get you the best option.

The Hushpower and the Hushpower Shorty for the WIN!:-) the Original 40 sounded great too with the hallow sound, I have the Flowmaster Outlaws and they are beast with the Flowmaster Scaverger Elite Series Longtube headers offroad xpipe the Big Mutha Thumpr Cams 06 Mustang GT
nice never really thought a Chevrolet engine could sound like that unless it was open headers !!
Super 10!!🔥🔥🔥
anything would sound beautiful with that set up.
To bad they couldn't run the motor with some kind of a load on it.
I got the 10s on my 70 Chevelle and it's the best
I love the Hushpower series.
They all sound so ssssweet.
Do you have any probs: in the US with noise regs: on road legal cars?
40s or 44s on 06 Impala SS? Need to know soon. I want a deep rumble/roar but no raspy/rattling.
Original 40 series all day. 💪
i like them all, but the 10 is ROYAL!
10 and shorty sound fkn sick.
@benii02 Flowmaster has a dual exhaust kit for your car that bolts up to your midpipe and then splits to 2 mufflers and 2 tailpipes. The part number I found using their website is 17276. They say when the car is idling it has a sound similar to a V8.
I like the "Super 50" mild sound 🚗
Would the 40 series be a good muffler for a 04 trailblazer 4.2L Straight 6? I want something aggressive but not drone
70 series all day long. now do a dyno run of them all as well!
I liked the hushpower shorties the best
Great video thanks! Super 40's it is!
Just got me a set of super 10's for my 02 Tahoe. I'm still trying to find the best way to set up either turndown or out the back??
i like the hushpowers cause you can hear the lope of the cam
I HAVE A 1971 mach 1 MUSTANG I WANT IT TO SOUND LIKE GOOD OLD MUSCLE BUT NOT ANNOY EVERYBODY LOUD WHAT ONE SHOULD I GET???
What rear tire and wheel set up is on that car in the background?
I have 10s on my 86 fox, they sound wicked when your on the gas but at cruizing speed 60-65 you cant hear your self think. I was thinking of wraping them with some header wrap, think it would help with the inside noise level?
is a super 40 series alone with no cat back legally considered a muffler?
that super 10 is badass
SERIE'S 40 AND OR THE 10 SERIE'S 40'S TWO CHAMBER 3INCH ON MY S10 AND MUSTANG I OWNED ..LOVE THE SOUND ..
Great stuffk
Any recomendación for 94 DeVille V8 4.9 engine ,really need the tip before buying anything.just want a bit more muscle sound not the stock no sound
If you're looking to add a little tone but not wake up the neighborhood the Flowmaster 50 Series Delta Flow would make a good option; it has a moderate exhaust note, nothing too aggressive. If you want something a little louder our newest muffler the FlowFX would also make a good addition. We have over 15 muffler options, it can be a little overwhelming. Try giving us a call at 707-544-4761 and we'll be more than happy to help.

Hey bro if I like the "super 50 siries" do I just ask for the flowmaster like that "i want the super 50 siries" or is it some ispisific name for it ...sorry for the miss spell
I have a Super 10 on my 2015 Silverado! 🙌🏼
very nice video, i think the flowmaster 10 series is for my mustang 2004
que flowmaster usan las camionetas V8 lobo o de ese tipo de camionetas? porque yo tengo una DODGE DAKOTA 92 V6 y quiero que suene bonito como una V8, cual me recomiendas?
@michaelmyers1993 I dont think the comparisons are that close but Flowmasters do have their own tone and there are like 12 options of series to choose from to give you different volumes and tones. I personally think that all glasspacks sound the same and the only thing that seperates them is the outside material (304 stainless or aluminzed steel). Dynomax, Magnaflow, Borla, Corsa, Thrush...all the same
I am looking to add Long-Tube headers w/3" collectors and Hi-Flow CATS w/2.5" outlets on my V6 basically stock Mustang.
If I use the Super 40 2-in/2-out will it work as a 'cross-over'..? And what should I use as a "resonator" to prevent "Blap" and "drone" inside the car,,? [ I DO travel occasionally in the car, as well as being a Daily Driver.
Hi Floyd,
If you are looking to include a cross-over in your system we would typically recommend an X or H-pipe. Additionally, depending on the overall sound you are looking for, we offer a variety of options for your car. Give us a call at 707-544-4761, that way we can get a little more information about your Mustang and help find the right option for you.

I would go with the hushpower bro series and shorty series and the super 10 series. those sounded the best to me.
3:10 best sounding ones in my opinion
I look to install it on my mustang flowmaster v6 3.8 I want to sound like a V8 flowmaster series has to be and how many 1 or 2 ahy you to install it
