In this video I re-visit the Baofeng UV-5G+ GMRS radio, which is still, after all these months my favorite GMRS radio that I recommend to anyone new to using GMRS radios. I go over the UV-5G Plus, my favorite features of this GMRS hand-held, and I show you how to impress your friends that use cheap low-cost GMRS or FRS radios to ruin your day.

Wow. That sounded very dirty..... like your usual.
I would buy one or maybe a tu pac, but I have no friends, real or imaginary.
Can this radio be unlocked?
All silliness aside, I really want to show my appreciation for you putting in the time and effort to show us these radios and discuss the pros and cons, at least as you see them. I want to thank you for doing the legwork so I don't have to watch someone else who does. I want to express my gratitude, but I'm not gonna do it, sucka.
@vitogriffin8902 No worries at all there are many of us who are happy to do the deed.
@@archmasterone sounds erotic... I dig it
@@archmasteronesounds romantic....
That was great man, thanks for doing that, the cat is a riot!!!🙏
Me too , I have learned a lot from watching these videos and the info is really good ,I picked up the UV-5G plus and got my GMRS license
“Boofwang Corporation of Japan” had me rolling. 🤣🤣🤣
The FCCs 🤣🤣 and "Some People" get some people all confucklucked 👍
April Fools fuc*tards 😂
I thought this particular model was produced in Korea thru a sub con tractor.
I went from relaxed and tranquil to pissed off at my stupid imaginary friend. 😂🤣
Mine just sat quietly in the corner.. he's smarter than he looks!
See. It’s the little things. Like using the heavily chewed broken tipped pencil as a pointer. Love it.
wait until you notice the file names of the images on his desktop 😂 🗿🐣
Randazzo, I laughed harder at this video than almost any you've done. I have no idea what profession you had in a former life; but, you missed your calling if it wasn't in the entertainment field. You are definitely a man gifted with many talents.
When I grow up I aspire to be half the troll this man is. He is the Troll hero we need!

First off, you saved me a lot of trouble and heartache over trying to program this radio to protect my family and close friends. In one video you resolved my problem, published online freely well before my outreach to both Baofeng and Chirp. (Other "solvers" wanted new money for this solution.) Second, unlike either the people at Chirp or Baofeng, who both went round-and-round on answering my questions but never did (because they are basically young and stupid and have no actual personal know-how or experience, but instead work on pre-defined responses), you solved my problem entirely in this video. Entirely. Because neither you nor me are stupid. My utmost thanks to you, sir. Signed - an 18-year-old with 50 years of experience, including the Vietnam War. PostScript... love the attitude of your videos. Never, ever change that. You are now designated as a real friend to me.
I bought one a few weeks ago..friends on the local repeater say it sounds fantastic.
Just had mine delivered today.
Quite the coincidence that this was posted, All Powerful Xenu must approve of my current path!!
Good vid Randy! I purchased 2 Baofeng UV-5G (was 5X) Radios in May 2022 after your second review blessed this model that you failed the first review that the radio had many flaws. I love these radios. Chirp Compatible. Here is a quick tip on maximizing battery life: Not real common a lot by most users, including me but: I actually followed the user manual’s instructions on the stock batteries and the extended life batteries I also purchased #7. -BATTERY INFORMATION:
7.1.-INITIAL USE - New batteries are shipped uncharged fully from the factory. Charge a new battery for 5 hours before initial use. The maximum battery capacity and performance is achieved after three full charge/discharge cycles.” Yes, 3 Times in a Row; I charged each new battery full and discharged down to 1 bar by selecting FM and playing the FM Channel with low volume overnight. Then charging back to full. Doing this I found each battery has amazing long performance.
It's official, I bought my first radio. This radio. Just now. Using the link. Now, to pay the overlords at the FCC...
I’m always in a better mood after watching your videos. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and humor!
Relax and imagine a perfect world, and… this just became my most favoritest video ever
BEST Review EVER
This is now my favorite of all your videos! Superb!
One of if not the best hand model on the You Tubes.
Man, I just really appreciate the knowledge and humor. I'm sending all of my friends to this channel to get them up to speed. We have just gotten into gmrs and you make it easy and entertaining. Thanks again
Thank YOU!
Comedy gold 😂. This sounds literally how we’d give each other shit back in the Corps. Much love from the field radio operator gang.
Thanks for your work. A friend and I split a 2-pac of UV-5G Plus radios first of the year as our first gmrs radios - based on your previous video. I have thoroughly enjoyed it. These are great first radios and totally worth the monies.
Thanks so much for the great review. You now owe me a 27" monitor because of the "magic smoke" it released. You see, laughter is hard to contain when the one-liners come at you from the left, from the right....Kinda like..."Body Blow...Body Blow...UpperCut....UpperCut...!" Keep up the great work! I'll assume "the check's in the mail!
You are a gifted humorist of my favorite ilk! Plus, you know your topic and explain it well in simple terms that a lowly knot-head like me can get the much needed information. Thanks for all your efforts.
Oh boy, you managed to raise the bar again. (Hopefully you can lower it on your "friend" with that POS radio.) The malapropisms were also next level.
I appreciate the intensive purpose with which you produce these informative videos. That is all. Thank you.
Irregardlessly!
This video was perhaps the epitome of all previous reviews you have done! Your succinctness, warm personality, and vastly superior knowledge of the GMRS constellation make your creative output a veritable paramount of joy to view! I for one shall endeavor to remain current on your playlist of extremely pertinent and to the point reporting of all that is GMRS without confuckulation. I give thanks to Xenu for gracing the rest of us with the ability to avail ourselves of your wisdoms and knowledge. I shall now withdraw to my sad ham and gmrs existence awaiting your next golden nugget of wisdoms.
I bought the 2 pac (about a month ago) because of you're review! I love them, they have exceeded my expectations for the price. Even though we live in a hilly heavily treed suburban area, I was surprised the radios came in Crystal Clear for over a mile. Using the larger antennas that came with the kit 2 miles + is no problem either. I can clearly hear a repeater 25 miles away as well. Thanks for all you do, I got into this mostly because of you. 😅
These videos are great. Love the shortcuts on your desktop too. Outrageous.
Thanks for your great reviews and commentary. Love it.
Love the dialogue, thanks for the chuckles and product info
This is a really good updated review of the Japanese Boofwang GMRS Radio! I think there were some areas you could have been a bit more pacific on, but keep up the good work.
Just applied for gmrs 2 days ago and have been binging your content since.😂 fantastic videos man.
GMRS is a radio gateway drug.
Oh noooo😅😅
I just received the UV5G plus (single pac not the Tupac) in the mail yesterday and applied for my GMRS license recently as well. I am listening to my local repeater chatter as I type this. I totally went down the rabbit hole when simply looking for options for emergency/shtf comms. Thanks for my new addiction. Like I needed another type of gear addiction lol.
Hi Randy - Many thanks for your updates and observations about the UV-5G+! Based on your review, I elected to get the "tu-pac" of these; they really work well, an amazing value given the $$ for the features and capabilities found therein. I also employed your tip on how to use Chirp to program this model, with worked well as I was easily able to set up the channel memory with a bunch of local content. (I'm also in So Cal...). Your combination of informative content, humor, and occasional sarcasm is unmatched!
One of my fav videos I have seen from this channel. Very Nice.
I’ve never been able to relax like that ever before! I may just use this video to fall asleep at night. It might not work tho because of the laughter that will inevitably ensue.
I bought myself a couple of these. Im able to talk with people at the top of the ski resorts here in SLC from the middle of the valley. Its pretty nifty
Your videos are always funny and informative. cheers.
Absolutely brilliant as always
I like the radios you've shown. I've been using the Anytone and the TYT UV390 lately for the Fridley MN repeater but I will also get more like what you have. Thanks for these videos 🙂
Repeater in Fridley, I will have to get a Uv5r and see if I can hit it from Blaine.
Love your work Randy. Thanks to you I enjoy my Boofwang AR-152, UV-5r, UV-9g and the civil disobedience that comes along with them.
This might be my favorite channel 😂 you're videos are great.
Simply outstanding. I hate preinstalled tones that vary from manufacturer to manufacturer.
Wow. You are hysterical. I had to pause the video to get a better look at the files on your desktop. Laughing so hard. You got my sub. Looking forward to more of your videos.
Thanks for the video... It's nice to see a decent gmrs radio that is inexpensive. Much appreciate the reviews and the humor. Keep up the good work 👍
One of the best videos you’ve done!
Excellent video! Thank you for this!
Excellent video again. I so enjoy watching your videos. I have my husband watching you now as well. We both love your sense of humor and most of all how detailed you are in your descriptions of the radios that you talk about. My question is: What GMRS radio would you recommend for us to purchase since we live in the mountains. A lot of mountains???? Thank you and God bless you and your family

Thank you sir for sharing your knowledge and expertise 🤠
Ahhh... now that just hit the spot. Great video, love it!
Bravo Randy you knocked it out of the park with this one 👏👏👏👏
Damn dude amazingly informative and entertaining as hell props🤘
I picked up one of these as soon as they came as a single. I also took a minute to test you. You can now indeed use Chirp to program a boofwang uv5g+. This is my first gmrs radio. I also have the older little brother the uv5r. I was going to get my technicians license, but you showed me the error of my ways. Instead, I got a gmrs permission slip.
Thank you very much for your videos !!!
So glad i found your channel you dont sugar coated and your play on words makes it even better 🤣😂
I bought these on your reviews. After seeing mine, couple of friends also purhased the twin packs. Thanks, I guess.
My UV-5G Plus should arrive from the Amazons next week, so excited to clutch it!
This video is gold!!! I needed a good laugh, thanks
I bought a Tupac a few weeks ago because of your first video on the UV5G plus. It was my first GMRS radio. Thank you. I feel I have been pretty successful with it a connecting to a few local repeaters and making connections. Learning most of the menu has been pretty easy. My only confuculation has been how you add custom channels? Is that the VFO mode? I haven’t tried chirp yet. Glad to see that in this video. Keep up the good work!!
It much easier to do in CHIRP, but on the radio, switch to VFO mode, enter your frequency then go into the menus and find the Channel-Save option.
Channel save option. Got it. But interested in trying CHIRP out. Thanks.
Those frs radios were the first ones I purchased before getting into gmrs, or at least they look like them.
Also, love the pics on your desktop! 😂😂😂
Thank you, NotaRubicon.
Thank you!!
You got me for a Tu pac. The goods are in route. Thanks for the info and laughs.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Thank you Randy for another GREAT informative and entertaining video! AWESOME
Always a good watch & listen
Thanks for the update on chirp! Great video, too funny!
Thanks Randy!
Splicing in AOC had me rolling 😂
My favorite video thus far!
Just gotta mention that you had my wife cracking up several times. Well done. 👍
Just came across your channel and subscribed! I really like your spin on these reviews! Not only informative, but I’m entertained!
Having said that, I’m putting together a bug out bag. I know nothing about radios, however, I would like to get a GMRS. Would appreciate your thoughts on this radio versus the water proof, UV 9G? Should I be concerned about getting something more rugged and waterproof? My budget is $75-$100 for the pair. I also feel it’s very important to have USB charging as in an emergency situation. I will only have a USB power bank. Your thoughts appreciated.!
looking forward to being a slumlord such as yourself some day .,i spend some time on the texas gulf coast ,this would be handy keeping an eye on my shark bait ,i mean grand kids while fishing . great video ,very informative ,you should find better friends ,keep up the good work .happy trails .
Randy Sir, You message and masculine delivery frightened away passers by whilst I was listening to this while sitting in my car at chic phil ayy.
Mumbled something about me being dangerous as they scurried into their forester…
Ah, suburu, the choice for a many nic nacking lesbians
Laughed my a$$ off on this on. Thank you for that. I did get the 2 pac of the UV5G and they do work great. I have hit 2 different repeaters that are 35 and 40 miles away with no problem in a very rural hilly area. Also thank you for the chirp hint.
LOL. I like listening to the intro just for the snark!
Like a fine wine...... Thanks Randy !!
Once again your computer screen doesn’t disappoint. Trolling Gold 😂
Thanks!
Thanks for the chirp tip. The factory software is poor. If the menu text wasn't red, I'd like it more. It's very hard to see. Otherwise, it works fine. I do recommend the two pack. The programming cable and extra antennas are a bargain.
If you add a Nagoya 771G and a programing cable to the single pack... it costs the same as the double pack... no brainer. A+++
At first I thought you made your comment into a poem, and then I felt disappointed at the end. But then I remembered that not all poems always have to rhyme. Now I'm just confused. Was your comment a poem? Or wait, was mine?
It was very close! lol maybe a song lyric @@vitogriffin8902
Nice informative video. Much better than the spiral sliced DX misinformation I watched earlier.
To clone a channel on a UV-5G Plus
1. Press the one touch (yellow) button to capture a frequency/tone
2. Press the (green) menu button
3. Advance the menu to the memory channel option “Memch”
4. Select a channel # location to save the captured frequency/tone to
5. Press the (red) exit key to save the frequency/tone to the desired channel
Everything about this is good 👍
I love the humor. Dry humor is a litmus test for intelligence, if someone doesn't get it... it says a lot about them
15 min shirt video 😂😂😂. Love your work sir.
Shades of Louis Black? Cracked my humor-deprived ass up! Thank you
Good job , i like your video 😃
Don’t stop. Keep going, with the side story telling.
Did i just stumble upon the Paul Harrel of radio ?
“Nutshells”. Thank you for your goodness.
This may be the funniest notarubicon video I’ve seen. Yes, with my very own eyeholes.
You're humor and cadence reminds me of a CZcams show where this alien watched Earth movies I can't remember what it was called right now
Just think about all those spurious signals you can squirt out with one of those. I can’t wait to get one.
Very educational and as it was entertaining
Those B Tech usb c batteries for the UV-5R were a great tip. Much more convenient on the road
It looks like exactly mine UV-5RM
I bought these based on your last review video. Don't regret getting them. Love them. Thanks for the videos and for deconfuckulating things for everyone. Lol.
The TV in the background says a lot. I like all your secret messages on the TV good suff.
Would like to see you review the 5W Rocky Talkie.
Painfully funny set up - and it worked like a charm. I was all relaxed liked - then Dickweed showed up! Priceless!
Was at my Local Walmart yesterday when I noticed a Lass using a Walkie & it looked identical to a Boofwang UV-5R
I must admit, I mostly watch for a good laugh, but this time I learned something. I'd recently bought a Boof AR-5RM and figured out the Chirp value for it, but could not figure out the choice for the selection for the 5G+. Thank you very much for that. The Boof CPS is total crap.
LMFAO too much fun...thanks ,I am new to the GMRS scene and love. your videos ... Can you help me out with Antenna selections for use in an Apartment? I Have a simple one I got from Amazon, and I put it on a cookie sheet, well it did not start out that way but to hold it better I put it on a cookie sheet as it has a magnetic mount. This actually seemed to get better quality.
Can you make a video for us apartment dwellers and our antenna choices?
Any look forward to watching more
