- Conspiracy Theory Time: SEGA is calling it Sonic X Shadow Generations because they want to drown out the fan art.
Also, I'm not entirely convinced that the Time Eater is responsible for Shadow's adventure in this game. I could very well be wrong, but something about the chromatic aberration and the whole "Dr. Strange in the Multiverse of Madness" vibes I'm getting when compared to the normal levels in Generations, which are similar to what we saw in the Cyberspace stages in Frontiers, have me thinking. - Hry
The sudden realization that a whole new generation of kids will now experience the existential horror of erroneously searching up 'Sonic X Shadow' once again...

It’s pretty cool how Shadow’s stages are much darker than Sonic’s stages, since his history is much darker. Final Chase, the Ark, Westopolis, even the Biolizard. I really didn’t expect them to add that guy into main Generations. No longer locked behind 3DS prison

I think this gonna be a Mario 3d World + Bowsers Fury situation where Sonic Gens is gonna get a dedicated Remaster and "Shadow Generations" is a new side game that's included in the same package that plays more akin to Frontiers.
Dude if Shadow controls like Frontiers Sonic with the anime-esque move set I’m going to lose my mind!
Now that you mention Bowser's Fury, I think you might be right, which makes me a little down because I was hoping for a whole new Shadow game ;-;
But in a way it makes a lot of sense and I'm still buying it the minute it comes out-
Yeah it's kinda obvious with the Frontiers-esque QTE cutscenes showing badass attacks. It looks like Shadow will essentially become a "3rd" playstyle for the game, we have Classic 2D, Boost Modern 3D, and now Frontiers.
I could see the Chaos Spears being a "skill tree" thing.

I can't believe it. This (not counting Forces because obviously) will be the first time Sonic Team will do something interesting with Shadow since 2006. As usual with this series I'm cautiously optimistic but they showed some damn good shots as a first impression.

I've gotta admit, the part that Charriii thought is Westopolis kinda looks like, almost a blend of Westopolis and Radical Highway, because there weren't GUN robots in Westopolis to my recollection, and the like, road in the sky part looks like the aesthetic for Radical Highway, but the rest of it evokes Westopolis too, but I'm not sure if that's the whole thing or just the Black Arms Red Sky in the background making it look like that or not. Also I hope we get more bosses than Biolizard, he's one of my favourites, but Shadow's had some sick boss fights over the years. Like, imagine if we got a Shadow v Sonic fight from Shadow's perspective? Or Metal Madness? Or any of the Shadow the Hedgehog bosses? Or even Mephiles, which is possible since if Crisis City can come back, so can my boy?
Maybe bring another 3DS boss and have Egg Emperor?

Some of this seems to be on the Ark. Obviously the Biolizard is fought there and you got Final Chase, but I swear some of the stage backdrops have the Ark theming. Speakinng of, I was wondering if you'd say "Suddenly Giant Lizard!" when he appeared.

My theory is that Black Doom is revived thanks to Time Eater accidentally and is taking advantage of the situation to have revenge against Shadow, or he would convince him again since this is different Shadow, the Sonic Adventure 2 version that was before he had amnesia unlike in the Shadow Game. We are shown examples in Shadow Game that he is capable of using memories or psychic powers to show events in the past to shadow, so maybe it's either Black Doom controlling time or it's a perspective thing in Shadow's head.
This could be what caused shadow to disappear for 6 months in forces. Infinite just shattered shadows mind and trapped him in his memories until he could piece himself back together. Could be a cool concept and it would actually put depth into infinites vendetta on shadow.

I think when he's running at dooms eye, that's on the ark. Shadow revisiting the ark and his life before he was sealed away for 50 years? Maybe he ends up creating a branch timeline where he saves Maria?

Wait I just realized something like 3 years ago I predicted this game’s existence because i made a Google doc like 3 years ago about a Sonic generations except with Shadow in it as well with new levels and shit in it. I can predict the future😮😮😮
What I think is happening here is that all levels have cutscenes between them like SA2, the difference is that it will probably be aiming at a seemingless transition between them

Remember in a story seen in sonic generations when eggman said the time eater had powers he did not master maybe black doom somehow taped into that power and is using better than eggman which explains why the stages/zones looked like there being warped and changed .
Well you have to remember Black Doom has mind manipulation powers. In shadow the Hedgehog he created illusions using Shadow's memories. He may not have as much control over shadow anymore but he would still have some kind of connection. I think its a more wild version of when Doom showed Shadow the scene from the Ark.
If this ties in to Sonic Prime somehow, I'm going to lose it.
This is interesting, I loved playing Generations, but never played Shadow the Hedgehog. So could be fun to play him

I grew up and absolutely loved this game as a kid. Im so happy to see that younger kids get to play this masterpiece.
So it'll be a remake with extra content, not a sequel. Hope this finally means Mephiles will return.
My BIGGEST fear is that SEGA is going to pull a sonic forces on us and only have 3 or so levels for Shadow. I know bonus content will be added to this port of generations, but we really need a lengthy shadow game right now. So SEGA, please take your time until April please and make this good

I think we can all confirm that we ALL disregarded that Genshin.-whatever game that trailer was for, once we saw the Sonic x Shadow Generations trailer.
It looks cool, we’ll probably get more details as we get closer to its release.
So here’s what I’ve noticed about Sonic X Shadow Generations. For Generations. The game remains mostly the same. But the textures are higher quality, the colors have been saturated a little more to be more vibrant, it runs at 60FPS and from what the game’s synopsis said, we are
getting extra content in Generations. Hopefully it’s good. The Shadow campaign is interesting. The story is mostly unknown but we know Black Doom is back and he has Shadow facing his painful memories from his past. The gameplay and level design is what intrigues me the most though. It seems like Shadow is gonna play like he did in Forces but has the slight homing attack delay and QTE Boss Finishers from Frontiers. His homing attack also has a Chaos Control effect which is cool. And he also has the Chaos Spear. Wonder what other moves he’ll have. The level design. There is some automation but not as much as Forces had. And looking at Final Rush and the Radical Highway/Westopolis like stage, there are multiple pathways. There are less of them here than in Generations but it seems that there are at least one to two multiple pathways per stage. We’ll have to wait and see for the next time Sega shows more of this. But at the moment, I’m genuinely really excited.
The new shadow stuff looks insane, hype generations is back and we actually got new stuff with shadow. Sonic and shadow generations. So hype. Also what you mean “that’s it” course there’s not gonna be much for the first trailer especially when it’s not coming till autumn. 💙❤️
Heres my fickled thoughts
Mabye the reason why the tine eater exists is because black doom decided to do something wacky, and created the time eater and went "ey, go kill em" and it attempted to only to get caught by eggman several years later after colors and so black dooms ghost is like "ya know what, screw that ima resurect myself while that thing is still alive" and did come back to life.... but as an enormously large staryu, so now shadow witnesses sonic and co get attacked by the time eater on sonics birthday and inevitably goes tow to toe with the time eater, probably learns its somehow related to black doom and chases after him throughout the timeline to occasionally run into sonic suspecting it was sonic fault this all happened
Well they got my money. Oh and it’s so nice to see biolizard again. It looks so strange but I love they redesigned it. Hope they give a new version of the biolizard music. It’s one of my favorite soundtracks. Definitely westopolis that red sky is very Shadow the hedgehog game.

You can definitely tell that SEGA are giving this game the Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury treatment. Re-Release the main game with improvements and also include a completely separated side game. Though this one’s a bit doozy. Not to say that it can’t work, but the thing is Sonic Generations was already just about perfect, Mario 3D World was good but definitely had flaws that the Switch Port improved thanks to updates to the gameplay and little things, and the Bowser’s Fury game combined multiple aspects of 3D Mario to make the most fun side story.
Sonic X Shadow Generations looks to follow that same thing, and it definitely helped they picked a fantastic game to re-release. Though considering how the game is technically already playable on current Xbox One systems due to backwards compatibility and how it was one of the games updated to run and look AMAZINGLY on them, it’s seems kinda overdoing it and just asks the question, “what more could they do to make it better?” Not to mention the fact how, JUST LIKE THE 3D WORLD + BOWSER’S FURY ANNOUNCEMENT, they haven’t really shown any improvements or updates to the main game in this reveal and just made it all about the side mode.
Though we should definitely have luck with this, this game was a Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 Game so there’s no goddamn way this shouldn’t work well on Switch, anyone remember Sonic Colors Ultimate glitches?
And like Bowser’s Fury, the Shadow mode definitely looks to be very interesting, and considering how this is happening after Sonic Frontiers and Superstars, SEGA definitely have a good idea on the direction for Sonic’s future:)
It just STINGS that we have to wait until Fall this year.

One of my favorite sonic games is back!!!
I just really badly want the mother wisp from Sonic colors DS to return (she had a fun motherly personality and she can teleport multiple planets plus she's not the type you want to anger). It would be awesome to get a Nega mother wisp boss battle (Sonic got to fight the biolizard. And the Nega mother wisp is an alien experimented on by eggman so it fit's shadows theme.). Plus sonic colors DS had more story and had dark elements unlike the console version.
This trailer was amazing! If we have a boss fight with the Biolizard, then that means there might be a potential boss fight against Mephiles the Dark in Sonic o6. Think about it, Crisis City is in Sonic Generations, that technically confirms that Sonic o6 is canon. I feel like we might have a Mephiles boss fight. And I will agree that's a bit of a stretch.
Regardless, I can't wait to play as Shadow again.
