"Playlist Best of Lang Lang goo.gl/o64VN3 Subscribe for more goo.gl/Jha3Ku" Music video by Lang Lang performing The Making of Prokofiev 3 & Bartók 2. (C) 2013 Sony Music Entertainment
I feel that Lang Lang's playing is at its peak when he is working with an orchestra, he's amazing emotions and passion works perfectly with the orchestra and it just enhances his interpretations of the music, bringing it to the next level. Bravo. Simply amazing.
So I bought the album based on this video, and I must say, it was one of the very best purchases I have ever made. An absolute feast. I have heard several recordings of the same Prokofiev and Bartok concertos by other luminaries, but none is as uniquely emotive as Lang Lang's play. I also tip my hat to the sound engineers, who have performed a minor miracle.
Miraculous. I've heard the concertos Lang Lang plays thousands of times by other pianists but when Lang Lang plays concertos with an orchestra I feel like these pieces are new works of art, seen for the first time. Lang Lang unveils amazing subtilties and new voicing that are nothing short of miraculous. His interpretation of Beethoven's 5th Concerto is stunning. His technique is mind blowing, both soft passages and pyrotechnic phrases. I can't think of another pianist I look forward to hearing play new works more. Bravo, bravo, bravo!
My favorite Concerto by Prokoviev, and I can't think of anyone playing it in such a way that reveals as much of the nuance and exciting technical passages as Lang Lang, I'm buying it!
I think Lang Lang is the greatest pianist I’ve ever seen or heard. His charisma and “rock star” status only helps classical music lovers get people to pay attention to the beauty we hear. Part of his appeal is his facial expressiveness and his feeling just takes me with him to the stratosphere where nothing but beautiful music lives and is born. The pianist without facial expression is too boring for me now. He is all that. He is amazing.
I am sure many accomplished classical pianists would want cameras to lavish sumptuous attention on them the way they do on Lang Lang. So far Lang Lang seems to be the only one who receives the most focus. Some people attack Lang Lang as being "showy". In their mind, classical pianists should play like Vladimir Horowitz or Marc-André Hamelin. And when people go to piano recitals, they are advised to close their eyes and simply listen to the music. Perhaps they are right. I have tried to watch Hamelin's recitals in New York and Tokyo (both are currently available on CZcams). In the end, I resorted to only using my ears to enjoy his lovely performance. I also tried to visually enjoy the playing by Stephen Hough, Yundi Li, Evgeny Kissin and Benjamin Grosvenor. In the end, I let my ears take over. Visually, you can just take a snap-shot and that snap-shot is guaranteed to be the same throughout their entire performances. I have found myself repeatedly watch these Lang Lang's performances: Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 5 with Christoph Eschenbach conducting the NDR Symphony Orchestra; Liszt's Piano Concerto No. 1 with Edward Gardner conducting the BBC Symphony Orchestra at the BBC Proms 2011; and his solo recital at the Musikverein in Vienna. (The first two on CZcams and the "Live in Vienna" on DVD. How I wish there were DVDs for the first two performances.) Why? When Lang Lang plays, his body language shows that he is not afraid of the piano and that he has completely tamed it. He gazes lovingly at the keyboard when he feels the music wants him to. Or, he simply closes his eyes and let his ears enjoy what flows out of his fingers. He looks "tense" only when the music sounds "heroic" or "furious". As far as I know, Lang Lang is probably the only one who does not have to glue his eyes to the keyboard throughout a performance. He visibly enjoys it when he plays. And who can blame cameras for wanting to capture his enjoyment!
+Sam Lee I totally agree with you! You are absolutely right!! IMO, Lang Lang is the only pianist who we can comprehensively enjoy watching his gifted-hands movements on the keyboard thanks to those professional cameramen's great jobs! That is a big fun to watch his performance!! But as you said, I can not do the same to the other pianists though they are also outstanding .... !
I enjoy him IMMENSELY!!!! not my favorite pianist for everything... BUT he has a LOT to say... and he's ALWAYS entertaining... to the ENTH degree... what more can you ask for?
When you have the likes of Sir Simon Rattle singing your praises, you know your'e St the top, and that's exactly where Lang Lang is. And deserves to be! XxxxxxAustralia 🎶🎵🎶🎵🎶🎵🎶🎵🎶🤗🤗🤗🤗
say what you want about him, but he is probably the best current living pianist (next to the greatness of Yuja, Kissin, Martha, Helene, ect.) With his interpretation of some music and how crystal clear his playing sounds. He may over do his expressions, but that just shows the passion he puts into playing.
Wow nailed that ending. He is very musical and some in the musical establishment like more conventional playing. I want to see a musician not a robot. When someone is popular people try to pull him down saying he is too popular. Ridiculous. I would rather hear Lang than the other 100 versions of the same piece.
Oh my godness!!!Lang Lang!!!guauuuuuuuuuuuuuu!! 🙈🙈🙈I can't look!!guauuuuuu guauuuuuuuu!mmmmmmmmmmmm,handsone !handsome!that a way to play!!fantastic!incredible!😮😮😮i eat you all!!!!🚀🚀🚀🎼🎵🎶magic!!✨magic!✨magic!✨very very magic!✨i like your😉of finish,mmmmmmm ,the king👑
Tbh, no living pianist can match his technical abilities. Many may have great interpretations of different pieces. They all are great pianists. I like them a lot Lang Lang has great interpretations and the technique to spare to do whatever he pleases. That's a very dangerous combination.
@@broly7784 Sokolov is really really good. But he is pretty old, and is obviously not at his peak.. But he was a God of Piano at his peak. Lang Lang on the other hand, he has technique for days. And he is only going to improve.... He doesn't even have to be serious and concentrate on Rach and Liszt pieces.... This guy's potential is too scary
Lang Lang, at last you are dedicating some of your precious time to less-known composers.Surely it is important to educate and widen music lover's somewhat limited panorama? In painting the Impressionist Movement is exaggerately popular to the exclusion/awareness of masterpieces beyond. This surely also applies to music?! Grazie.
Fingers lightning good. Lang Lang's expressive interpretation brings the spirit of Prokofiev's piece out right before the ears! If he were a poet, a painter or a philosopher, I'm sure he would do the same. What an astonishing musical talent!
Lang Lang is the greatest pianist in the World. I haven’t words for what I feel in my heart. Thanks you dear ❤❤❤ he is unique ❤
Tu es vraiment le plus grand pianiste !Merci de nous faire revivre ces instants.
I feel that Lang Lang's playing is at its peak when he is working with an orchestra, he's amazing emotions and passion works perfectly with the orchestra and it just enhances his interpretations of the music, bringing it to the next level. Bravo. Simply amazing.
The first time I 100% admire the pianist, who demonstrate maturity and thoughtfulness in these renditions. Bravo!

Just saw him play last night in Phoenix. Last time I saw him was in Paris. He is phenomenal.

Never have talent and passion been so superbly combined. Lang Lang is a genius.
Totally agree
I literally couldn't breathe...took my breath away.

Я согласна почти во всем...только сама с удовольствием смотрю, как именно пианисты играют).

this is a very accurate and concise description of how I feel about Lang Lang's music as well. Thanks.
For good reason.

2:47 the violinist 😂😂😂 rather adorable

Ooo, I look forward to its release!!! Sounds like perfection.

그렇게 즐거운 이유 답 하십시오?^^
2:46 the lead violinist 😂😂😂😂
一想到我这辈子再怎么练也not even close就觉得很没劲,我到底为什么还在练琴呢。。。
Holy... I actually like his better than Yuja's performance. 😱
中國骄傲!
Moreeee back-leading? 🤮
that music isn't very nice
It's just quite in different style of the classical music genre. Usage of whole tone scale, non-harmonic chords with some dissonance notes.
Lang Lang es el mejor pianista del mundo que yo haya oido. Un GENIO !!!!!!!!!
Brilliant!
Fantastic!
Can anyone tell me what kind of music that he mentioned at 2:20 ? I can barely hear what he said.
