It is so versatile from everything to a doctors office to concert hall you can Carry on conversations with them softly playing in the background and I love listening to it while I read and especially on a rainy or stormy day I am so blessed that my parents raised me with all kinds of wonderful music and classical is in my top two 🥰
You can find violent people in classical music as in another music genre. It is a cliché that music, art, etc makes better people. It may, but there are millions of violent and manipulative people in classicall music too. Any piano student in the top music schools, for example, can asure you this. Let's be clear.

The more videos I watch of this young man the more I am amused by how he looks like he could be a smart-ass punk yet he is actually a transcendent human. I love the contrast between his appearance and his soul. He's a throwback to the great romantic pianists of the 20th century like Horowitz and Rubinstein but with an attitude. I hope he composes for the piano.
You are listening to this by technology invented by engineers and scientists. You have what to eat and keep your health. Musicians did not bring this into our world. A bit of humility won't harm.

Besonders grossartig war es, wie versiert dieser junge Pianist die Rollen wechselte zwischen Solo, Kammermusikpart, Begleitung und Orchesterinstrument, dabei immer die interessantesten Details dieser genialen Partitur herausbrachte und an den genau richtigen Stellen die doch erwartete explosive Energie freigab. So eine interessante und ergreifende Interepretation hab ich lange nicht gehört.

A very energetic and exciting performance. Hats off to the audio engineer, I heard innuendos I have never heard before. The 18th variation has always given me goose bumps when the orchestra comes in with the crescendo, and this fine orchestra did not disappoint. Bravo Alexander and maestro Altinoglu.
The best live piano performance that I've ever had the honour and pleasure to see and listen to was at Casa da Núsica (Porto). I dad never seen anything like that before! 18 satge calls! unheard of! A grand master pianist. One of the best ever.

Gorgeous playing by both Alexander and the orchestra - which was very rich sounding. But am I the only one who thinks the piano does not have proper microphone placing? The piano part tends to get lost in the orchestral parts. Alexander has such a unique wonderful interpretation I would like to hear more of it.

The sheer complexity of this arrangement makes one wonder how any human could ever memorize it. This young man is truly remarkable. The orchestra sounded superb. It was a most enjoyable performance by all.
To beachbum: It's not uncommon for a professional pianist (or violinist, for that matter) to have twenty or more solo/orchestra works fully memorized. Believe it or not, playing "by heart" is the least of their problems.
The pianist actually memorizes the notes so that they can then be “forgotten”… the mind can then waste very little energy remembering which notes to play at which moments, and can instead focus on the emotional essence of the composition.

So wonderful to see all these young people playing in this orchestra so many orchestras are mostly older or middle age so it’s wonderful to see it being carried on with our millennials 🙏 The worlds future lies in their hands as well as the Creator And may they all realize that their gifts are from that Creator.

The passage played beginning at approximately 14:50 (I think it is variation number 18) until about 17:30 is for me one of the most beautiful pieces of music ever composed. If upon my death I hear this piece I will know that I am back home in heaven. For me the feelings of longing and joyous ecstatic fulfillment it evokes goes to the very depths of my soul. This is the power of Great Art be it music, literature, drama, painting, architecture…; to make one feel emotions of which one did not know one was capable.
I totally agree ! This passage is very similar (in its emotional content) to the final movement of the third piano concerto. This is a heavenly feeling, the certitude that something will wait for us after our physical death, that all the suffering in this world, all the pain in our heart, will eventually find an issue. It always brings tears to my eyes - tears of joy, of pure joy, not an ephemeral one.

So wonderful to see all these young people playing in this orchestra so many orchestras are mostly older or middle age so it’s wonderful to see it being carried on with our millennials 🙏 The worlds future lies in their hands as well as the Creator And may they all realize that their gifts are from that Creator.
It would be nice they learned how to comb their hair before performance? Something to do about respecting your art form, perhaps? And why not coming in with thousand of piercing all over your body to differentiate yourself from others, eh? Talent is one thing! Image is another! He must have doubts about his talent to sell himself so cheaply!

The passage played beginning at approximately 14:50 (I think it is variation number 18) until about 17:30 is for me one of the most beautiful pieces of music ever composed. If upon my death I hear this piece I will know that I am back home in heaven. For me the feelings of longing and joyous ecstatic fulfillment it evokes goes to the very depths of my soul. This is the power of Great Art be it music, literature, drama, painting, architecture…; to make one feel emotions of which one did not know one was capable.
I totally agree ! This passage is very similar (in its emotional content) to the final movement of the third piano concerto. This is a heavenly feeling, the certitude that something will wait for us after our physical death, that all the suffering in this world, all the pain in our heart, will eventually find an issue. It always brings tears to my eyes - tears of joy, of pure joy, not an ephemeral one.
