In my opinion, the most gifted pianist of this time! I love classical music , and this young protege makes one feel every bit of every piece that he plays! He is truly gifted, and he shares that gift for us!
The talent of this boy, now a man, is beyond reckoning. People tire of superlatives to describe such genius, but we must express them anyway. For me, wonderment is the most fitting term. Hearing him and watching him play with such feeling and such insight makes one simply wonder and marvel at how such abilities, such talent and artistry can come from one human being- especially one so young. It brings me to tears.
His interpretation to every note is such a master piece! My heart melts.
Thank God Aleksandr Malofeev is alive & sharing the soul of music!!

I'm in awe of Yunchan, because I just attended his NY Philharmonic debut(Rach 3), on 5/10. At 19, he is more mature and even more precise than he was when he won the Cliburn competition.
Yunchan's chose the Ossia Cadenza for this occasion (he played the smaller cadenza at the Cliburn). And I honestly don't remember hearing anyone doing it better.
The 3rd movement was technically near perfect. And he took an even faster pace than at the competition. Plus he attacked the Coda at the impossible tempo that Horowitz took in his legendary 1951 Rach 3.
It was incredible!
Александр is really a phenomenon. And I'm proud of his stance for World peace after being wrongfully judged! His latest Rach 3 was his best. Hopefully, he got over his awkward period and will live up to his potential.

@kaymohr...my sentiments, exactly!! But I didn't say it as quickly as the gentleman after me (Robert). Alexander is a genius and he must be a savant to play all of his music perfectly, and by memory. I admire his great musical talent, and I hope he doesn't get into the more modern world of music, such as Shostikovich, whose "noise" means nothing to me!! Alexander and his gifted fingers ARE the meaning of the beautiful Classics, from long ago, especially when he is playing his beloved Sergi Rachmaninov...the beauty and love just flows from his own heart, and his fingers carry the message to the rest of the world family! Alexander, thank you and thank you!! It's obvious you have taking the gifts God gave you and poured your life into them!! "To Touch the Human Soul" you have done like so few have. The emotions in the music go well beyond your hands and is expressed by your whole body. You are an artist and your creativity has only begun to be seen. Dream beyond your dreams.
Listening again to the Medtner and Rach Sonata#1 at the end of this video. . These pieces and this performance penetrate into a deep space. I am stilled and in another place. No other pianist has this effect and that's why I'm a dedicated fan of Alexander Malofeev. No one else goes to his level.
Technic is a matter of, perhaps, 8 to 10 hours a day. But feeling, spirit, interpretation, among others which are not a matter of 25 hours a day , that is a gift which the young Alexander has a lot. Thanks Alexander for sharing your wonderful interpretations.

@@leaccordion Be happy (unhappy), we are normal people, we dont have this gift.
Much of this music cannot be performed without memorising it which is done in small sections until mastered before moving into the next section to do the same. This is a major part of the donkey work. If you memorier 1 page a day and the piece is 20 pages, it will take you 20 days to basically learn it. Then you need to ‘make it your own’ in line with the composer’s wishes. If you do the same work on 7 pieces every day, you will learn 7 pieces in 20 days (if the average number of pages is 20). This is just an example. Some pieces are shorter and otters are longer. For international piano competitions, the competitors often take at least 2 years mastering the pieces they will use to compete. Of course, for the really successful competitors, they have had many concerts and competitions along the way to develop their abilities with the selected pieces before the day of the big international piano competition like the Cliburn or Tchaikovsky competitions. It is a very challenging life requiring the utmost discipline, dedication, motivation, passion, grit which wouldn’t be possible without great talent, wonderful teaching and incredible support and sacrifice on the part of parents and others. If you have all of this and do not leave it too late, you have a chance of taking your place on the international platform as a virtuoso pianist. Of course, one cannot sum up what goes into these performances in a CZcams message and do total justice to the whole classical music world culture but hopefully this gives you an idea and answers your question in part.

Now at age 86 l had, many years ago, finally come to understand the huge effect 'Learning' Music has had upon my, not only understanding what 'makes music' but the immeasurable furthering of One's Mental Abilities overall: self discipline, follow-thru, achieving......
I am indebted to Mrs. MARION GOODLANDER for teaching me in firm, encouraging ways to become a disciplined Musician, but things my Parents failed to teach at home.
And today l 'appreciate' Music in ways l wd not have otherwise done.

GENIUS ..I call him Alexander the great. Also genius is a word I seldom use as they are born few and far between. At age 15 he played Rachmaninoff's concerto no 2 and it was more than gripping. Two VIP names..Arthur Rubenstein, Martha Argerich. Yes ..he's on that level. They are the geniuses of the past. Now there's Alexander... 21st century genius. 👵🏻
