    Thanks for the great info. I have a 2000 Seville sls and it’s been a great car for me. I bought it from an older retired client of mine that bought it in 2000 brand new and kept it in his garage it’s whole life. He bought a brand new 2017 and didn’t have the garage space for the old one so for $500 I rode away with it. It’s in mint shape with all the paperwork for maintenance records and had 180K miles on it but mostly highway miles from him traveling. I’ve been keeping up on it and my kids love the smooth ride and the nice get up and go.

    My 2003 Cadillac Deville- I accepted the fact repair cost by auto repairs are expensive very expensive unless like I do mostly all...repairs myself. That's the way you can own a LAC. Thank God! I'm able to do most all problems myself that pop-up.

    Have a seville sts 98 model.
    Have replaced all gaskets for the waterpump and the pump itself after it had a severe leak, was all pink and crystalized underneath.
    Had the two pneumatic struts replaced on the rear with original new ones since they were very corroded and leaky.
    I replaced the two front door bass speakers and the subwoofer with those of the black back types, not the yellow original ones since some say they are better will last longer and not sound muffled overtime as the old ones did.
    Have checked all levelsensors near the struts and repared the cable on one.
    Fixed the tail-lights and the led-strip in the brake light and sealed it all with uv-resistant silicone since they were flooded with water due to cracks in the plastic.
    The trunk in my seville had two draining pipes of rubber behind the cloth sides that was not pulled through the gaskets on the sides where some cables goes outside the chasis underneath behind the rear plastic cover near the wheels, where it supposed to. No wonder the leak has come from them in the trunk, fixed that too.
    The oil leak came from the pipes that goes from the radiator to the input side of the filter, replaced those.
    After plenty of hours put down to the car, finaly have got rid of all the errorcodes except for one C1784 on the RSS (might be the singapore 55199 IC), I have no service suspension and speed limit message, no leaks of coolant nor oil, RDL is working properly and good sound again.

    The air bag system on the Seville is not a good system, they are not like a system that has nitrogen charged struts which is monitored like at 100 x per second and instantly adjusts ride height and aggressive stance of the car via sensors in the car and throttle position etc etc , the Cadillac has a air pump that responds to slow and rides rougher and is full of problems , the conversion to traditional gives you a better ride and more capability, but you would not know that unless you have driven both confidently to push their limits. Do the conversion, you will be impressed with the ride and handling.

    One way to know if it is the later car with the Mag ride is it will have dual tailpipes on each side versus the single units on each side

    Thanks for the great info sir, I have that spare tire bay leak you mentioned in your excellent fact finding vid, you showed where the water comes in and i'm going to put a butyl rubber sealant bead along the areas you revealed asap, when i got my Seville it had about 3 inches deep of water in that tire well but i didn't know why, thinking someone left the trunk open
    in the rain...🤯✨😏
    The car runs well, brakes are perfect but the front end
    Wobbles between 35 and 65 mph do i need to look into that, just bought the car
    for Xmas because my Buick
    Century caught "Covid-19" and suffered multiple parts failure.
    There's a fuel level sensor issue, a flasher relay that needs changing but otherwise i'm very fond of the Seville already and plan on getting it in tip-top shape
    with the info you shared, do thanks again...🤔

      @@johnanderson3746 It's the secondary air injection pump. I think that's what he called it (the mechanic) he pointed it out to me when the car was on the rack. Its on the driver's side near the front of the car - just behind the radiator. He said: "it's not bad . . . sometimes they make a little more noise when they get older . . . if it goes bad you'll see the check engine light and have other problems." Then he took the cover off of it and shook it. There was a small amount of water in it that came out. He looked it over, put it back and told me not to worry about it. Since then the noise went away. For me the noise never lasted for more than a minute and only on cold starts.

    • @dave4925yahoo
      @dave4925yahoo  Před 3 lety

      Yeah I'd save money and time and have a pro diagnose it. If you check all the codes with a scanner, it might hint to what is going wrong. Otherwise you can easily throw hundreds of dollars on parts that don't need to be replaced. With my 2000 model, I went through a couple batteries and 2 sets of ignition coil packs. It could be anything in ignition or fuel system. More than likely it's a coil pack and they usually throw general or specific cylinder misfire codes in its history.

      They have several head gasket treatments out there for that issue and doesn’t costs much and takes about 10-15 mins of ur time. Look up in CZcams and u will see many people swearing by these methods. Hope yours comes out ok. I have a 2000 Seville sls with 190K and no issues. U have to keep up on these motors and they aren’t junk like people say, they just don’t want to do the maintenance that’s required.

    Like your accent , I'm thinking about one STS 2000 with 40k , I drive very little and have other cars . It's $4000 II was thinking I couldn't go wrong . But I have heard cars with low miles heaving head gasket problems , how ever one doesn't know how people tread the cars.
    In your opinion , is there any quality difference in Seville vs Deville ?
    Thank you

    • @starxlr7863
      @starxlr7863 Před 6 lety +1

      If these cars are properly maintained, you cannot go wrong. Fluids must be changed when needed and that means coolant as well. This is a problem with many different cars and not just Cadillac. Both the Seville and Deville are very well built cars as I have both myself. I've been around Cadillac's all my life, all different years and models and believe me when I say that these newer Seville's and Deville/DTS cars are great cars. When these cars are maintained, they will run forever and will treat you good no matter what the mileage is.

    • @dave4925yahoo
      @dave4925yahoo  Před 3 lety

      Seville is better as long as you don't want to do front wheel burnouts with a Deville DHS. Years 97 to 99, avoid because of head gasket bolt defect.

      Overheating is directly a cooling maintenance issue. Nothing more and nothing less. Its a very simple system. All 91-99 Cadillac northstar engines are exactly the same internally.

    Other then this, that, the other thing, the next thing, oh another thing, and then another thing too, other then that it's a pretty good car.... I know what your saying but... I will stick to Lexus / Toyota, especially any model that doesn't have active suspensions. Nothing but a cluster #$&! all of them when they get older. 17 years in my Camry with 274k miles, original alternator, starter, exhaust, sensors, AC parts, only non-normal wear parts replaced are idle air control valve $60, blower resistor $18, valve cover gasket kit done twice $25, just did CV joints because original boots were broken for some time and I didn't want to get stuck one day with a broken CV joint.... 1 full set of struts and 4 tie rod ends many years ago (really normal wear items)... That's about it! So reliable I don't want to give it up, it's not a luxury car but it is really quiet, smooth with the right tires and comfortable...

      @dave4925yahoo  Před 3 lety

      I'd degrease the engine carefully, then you can see where it is leaking oil. I guess it's a blown out seal. Many of them possible, most likely the valve cover gasket. It could be the timing chain / camshaft cover gasket or head gasket. Check your antifreeze and engine oil, drain and change oil and inspect color. It should be amber brown to black. If antifreeze is mixing with oil, your oil will look like chocolate milk (BAD - $5000 to fix it right) then you have probably a blown head gasket. Could be leaking engine oil elsewhere, like rear main or oil pan gaskets. It's quite normal to have to replace valve cover gaskets, it is a $400 job. That is most likely what it is. Check to make sure though before you drive it again.
