Ben works so hard on all these C3s, it's pretty impressive and I've learned a lot over the years.
I don't know how Ben does it. That console wiring situation overwhelmed me. :D
it really isn't that complicated, these old cars are very very simple when youve got a coloured wiring diagram
Ben please continue with this car and make it an entire series. I really want to see it come together!👍 Maybe do a four speed conversion on it?🤔
Always love first starts …. Never gets old…. Sounds great …clapped out Vettes are cooler than anything if done right …
I've been wanting a '72. Nice job getting the girl running again.
A Sorcerer at work. Magic by Ben. I am in awe.
I can't wait to see this vette back on the road ! Nice job so far
Thanks for the post. Congratulations on getting her running in the car. Thanks for taking the time to record your work and post it for us to see.
I give you a big thumbs up for working on these old gems.
Always, always look forward to your Corvette videos!
Sad to see that Vette was abandoned like that. My first Vette was a new '72, white, saddle leather, 4 speed. Wish I still had it.
Thanks for saving this one Ben.
My best friend lost his life to AIDS. He purchased a brand new"72 Vette when he was discharged from the Navy. His car was auctioned off with his estate, I wish I had bought it. I miss you Gary.
We have a '72 LT-1. These cars sound so good.
Ben, that black knob stops the windshield wipers electronically during their excursion so you can replace w/w blades and such.
And on that bracket on each side of the switch is the headlight and wiper door vacuum override push/pull switches.
@@budehrmann5902 Exactly!
@@OutontheRanchwithDrLee-xb4lo Original owner of a 69. Had it for 52 years. Drive it weekly.
@@budehrmann5902 That's awesome, Bud. '69 is my favorite vette model year (love the gills)...I've got a 70 vert and a 67 coupe....they're both just drivers, definitely not show cars...
Missed all those over rides on my 77.
Very handy on the 68.
Need a push button starter system so you can crank by the engine bay.
I got one!
GM buried the solenoid. Doing it from the key has a double purpose of starting the car and getting the glitches out of the wires for the same investment of time.
Outstanding! So cool to see you Bro going this forgotten war horse back from the grave. 😎 Keep up the good work, Ben!
Ben a awesome job. Getting the ole gal going again. Your the best at troubleshooting these Corvettes. Hope to see more. Love your videos and work.
Terry
Love all the content, miss the Caddy!
Nice work. Being patient and methodical can really make sh..t happen. 👏😃
Congrats on a successful start up. Always feels good to hear them run again after all those years abandoned and neglected. Soon back to pounding the pavement like she was built to do. Thumbs Up !
Sounds great. Looking forward to seeing this thing on the road,
Great video glad you posted keep them coming thanks
You do it again , well done , love your work
Congrats. I liked sharing your work and running joy 🤩
Wow... That's amazing Ben! You and your channel sure have come a long long ways. I have been following along ever since you dug the Cadillac out of the bushes.
Wow, thanks!
Ben, I too have watched your channel grow since you dragged the Cadillac out of the bushes.
I have a 2013 427 Limited Edition Vette that is quite a car, but I would like to have a late C2 or early C3 big block cruise around in.
It's a runner. I would love to see a tear down video of that LT1 that you pulled.
Engine sounds pretty good to me.......well done!
There has to be some super satisfying feeling of seeing her kick over for the first time in decades. At this point you are running a rescue foundation for stray Vettes. #savethevettes.
Ha ha! In my teens during the late 80's, struggling fund my C3 project, we joked around that I needed to start a charity, "Save the Corvette Foundation".
@@mikeferrell7308 I think it's a great idea!
Great project!
It will be nice to see this back on the road.
Ben the motor sounds good. When you take the carburetor off check the bottom surface and see if its flat. Some people over tighten carbs and it bows the carb base between the bolt holes. This creates unstable idle from air leaks around the base and them they try to tighten it down a bit more to close up the leaks making it worse.
Great work Ben and thank you for doing all these videos! So informative and inspiring👍
Greetings from Sweden😎
Good work sir. Nice to get another Corvette back on the road.
Yippeee!!! She's ALIIIIIVE!!!!! The orange carb is fancy schmancy lol
I’m so proud you saved this vette if you didn’t then I would. I can promise you that the body mounts are rusted into and the frame where number 3 mounts are rusted into.,at the very least . Fuel line are rotted and the wiring insulation is severally rotted . Pull this body and do this right…. It’s not that hard to do. Hit me up if you need help. I’m in the process of restoring a 1968
You can promise me huh? Bet you they are not rusty at all
I was trying to help you . But you do what you want I’ve restored enough of these older corvettes to know the risk is not worth it. Corvettes and corvette frames are different than any sport/muscle car . Any way do what you want it’s your car. Since you are smarter than me I will unsubscribe now to save you any trouble. Good luck
You can do what you like. I’ve owned over 100 of these cars and have restored many as well. I just think it’s hilarious you can assume this over one video without even any footage of the areas. Just for YOU I plan on making a video showing all these areas just so you can see they are not all rotten like you say. Have a wonderful day
@@TheCorvetteBen you go joe dirt, you go!!!!
Good job, thanks for sharing
I am always amazed, and saddened when people leave a car like this just to rot in a field....Why?????
Sounds good.
Sounds good Ben . . . . nice work , , , , Rog
I don't know why. Buy I am loving this car. Thanks for the video series on this vette
Great job!
Great work as usual!
Ben..like the editing and music you have been using lately..still think you deserve so many more views and subs..appreciate the efforts..
Funny, just had another commenter day my editing and video quality wasn’t with the subscriber count I have. Guess you can never please everyone
@@TheCorvetteBen You can't, so don't try. Ignore rude folks.
Hell yeah. She's a runner.
She's a runner!!
Dang good start young man. 👌
You are a super cool guy 😃 Love your work.
I would replace all the wiring harnesses on this beast. Replaced all of mine in my 79, and it was the best thing I could have done. Was fighting a lot of gremlins in the 40+ year old electrical system.
Doing all the wiring harnesses on my 81 I found under a tree, still gotta gut the interior. It had the hood on it tho, only 68000 on it, but I did get it running. Threw out a bunch of black carbon smoke, still working on it.
Hi Ben , replace the brake buster before you put the steering column in.
I'm just in a different reality money wise. I'd never just dump a Corvette in a field and walk away.
Well when your drunk all the time you make different decisions
Sounds good Ben
Yeaaa Ben! Way to go! Yeah!
Awesome! You can't kill a survivor Corvette.
Nice job Ben!!
She's a beaut Clark ...
Nice job Ben.
who sez ya can't polish a turd way to go it's going to fun watching you bring her back great job I would have been sitting on my creeper crying by now
The more you explained all the wiring...
...the more I felt my brainpan locking up... XD
Congrats!!-
If not already mentioned, the white wire you referred to as not knowing where it went could be a courtesy lamp wire
That long white wire may be to the map light on the rear view mirror. On my 74 it is gray but in the same location.
There just ain't no beating a metal bumpered C3!
Sounds good
There is a quadrajet shop that can fix almost anything and when you get it back it acts like fuel injection. The only thing is you have to run a fuel regulator between the pump and carb and set ut at 4 psi . Look into it because I sent a 1970 350 carb out and it worked better than any carb I have ever seen.
She sounds really good man i miss my c3 time to get another me thinks
All that spaghetti for a wiring harness , gonna crank it in the shop with the door down - I'd certainly want a fire extinguisher in there handy !!
You say that but there wasn’t one frayed or cut wire. Everything was as it was supposed to be
@@TheCorvetteBen good - as long as you know what you're doing , and from the comments of others you certainly do.
good deal...great to see that poor old car fired up and hot. why oh why did the PO try to kill it? i don't understand...
I've wanted a project c3 for years. Problem is even the ones sitting in fields people want a fortune for them.
I saw that 79-85 buick riviera sitting in one of cam shots. Is that a new project car?
Ben, I may have missed an explanation, but what's up with the orange/red carburetor? Also, any update on the '56 Cadillac? Thanks
You have got her running so, the first step is done. The rest of it is going to be quite a journey but, I’m sure you are up to the challenge. Watching the transition from junker to driver will be great content and educational for us keyboard jockeys.
Can see gas coming from carb as you cranked it on the camera side rear of carb.
Do you have enough spare parts to get this into a runner again?
I have a question not a criticism. Why didn't you clean and paint the engine before installing it. A few hours of cosmetic work is rewarding to look at for years. When using a junk yard or used engine I replace the timing set, oil pump and regasket the engine.
Keep up the good work and if you have time reply.
Look at the rest of the car. It will stick out like a sore thumb.
@@TheCorvetteBen it will compliment the rest of the car. 😁
I wish I could find an old junkyard Chevy 350 to rebuild just for kicks.
Why is the carburetor orange? Did someone paint it to match the engine block??? Strange.
Hey Ben. Wonderful video's. I have a 1979 corvette t top that I am looking for a set of 4 rally rims to fit. I believe the specs are 15 x 8 with a 3.5 back spacing. Do you have a set of four lying around that you would like to get rid of? I just need the rims. I already have the hub cap and rings. Let me know, Thanks.
If someone dropped off that vehicle in my driveway and said nothing, or didn’t leave a note, I would assume it was there for me to dig a hole in the yard, and bury it. You gave it CPR, heart transplant, and soon to be driven.
Awsome
Are you going to fix it or was this just a " does this engine work?" Temporary donor body.id love to see a series of videos of this car ,or frankly any car.i know it's a lot of work filming editing and posting you tube videos i just really like your content.thanks John from arizona
Something flew out of the passenger side at the same time as the pop. Might have been a leaf or other debris.
Hey Ben, I’m in Dallas, TX and wanted to know much your services are? I’m looking at buying a C3 in the future and would like to send it to you for an inspection plus services.
What kind the motor oil need
Corvette 1978?
This might be a dumb question, but would it be feasible to completely rewire a car like this? ….I mean the wires in this looks almost petrified, I wonder how safe those are in the long run. Plus you had the car apart anyway.
Feasible sure but very expensive
@@TheCorvetteBen alright, okay
wiring is the same or very similar as holden in aust
Yeaaaaaah! Sid that to a. Nova took sbc outa it andcwtabbed itcinto. A. 69 camaro
👍👍👍
Ben, that's the 'Vette that sat in the field with the hood off, right? And that's the engine that was full of water? Or did you swap it out with another salvage engine? I remember you saying the water engine was likely toast but some if us had encouraged you to free the rusted pistons and see if the cylinder walls might be cleaned enough to allow a start attempt since the rest of the engine looked clean. Is that what you did?
swapped engine
@@markayers5397 thanks for the clarification, Mark👍
Nice progress on the revival! Are you planning on restoration?
Nope. Too expensive
@@TheCorvetteBen That's a shame! At least get it to a level 1.
CZcams doesn’t pay enough. Usually the money spent on cars buying and fixing them is four times what CZcams pays
@@TheCorvetteBen I hear that alot from people that do the you tube thing. Takes alot of time and doesn't pay that well. At any rate continue doing what you do as long as you can and I will continue to follow your work.
Yes, Do you sell them? If so where and how
Ben, could 25-30k get this all the way back and looking good?
👍🏼😎
Amazing job. This is the perfect example of lipstick on a pig.
That thing was knocking when you started it on floor which I mention sounds like a rod knock
Try again.
👍👍👍👍👍👍
10 degrees how about 4 degrees
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
what kind of idiot leaves a vette outside with the hood off and a new crate engine? He probably had Christmas decorations in the garage
🙂👍👏🇺🇸
