    The next set has been announced off to the land of Misteria in Part the Mistveil. While it might be home of the Ninjas who knows what other secrets it holds, at the very least time for an all new talent to grace Rathe. Can't wait to see what's in store come May!

    My LGS actually frequently runs blitz armories, and I always bring an extra commoner deck with me. If I match up with someone who’s new I’ll play our game (which usually goes fast) and then immediately offer to play another game with mycommoner deck. I find this helps new players be less discouraged by the power discrepancy and helps them understand that when they upgrade their deck, it will be able to do a little bit more. It helps decrease the “ I’m just bad at the game” mentality.

      That's fantastic and I think it speaks volume to how the community has had such a healthy impact on the game working around the current introductory situation. Can't wait to see what strike decks bring and if they can shoulder some of the task, as while I do think the majority of the community acts similarly to you, it be ignorant to think there's no part of the community that doesn't.

    in my LGS is simple, if you want to buy staples and play upgraded deck you play CC, but if you are playing with a new player or want to play blitz you play with the precon since almost every player started buying one.

      Sounds like you have a winning LGS, the back and forth between deck is the highlight to me win or lose so that does sound like the most reasonable thing to do

    Your custom rule for blitz makes Vynnset and datadoll unplayable.
    Those heroes already start rough enough as is.
    If you want to add strategy and artificially extend the game you can try double armor, but even that can favor some heroes more than others.

      The main idea is trying to preserve the speed of blitz while reducing the lines of play to make it more introductory. One of the big issues with commoner or clash is people often don't like to "power down" a deck and LSS obviously want formats that make use of the majority of cards.
      In terms of Vynnset or Data Doll already playing with a reduced hand size, remember every hero has reduced range from the custom rule, with idea being for players to be ok with 1 attack or weapon and planning ahead, or 1 attack then weapon.
      Considering Vynnset's lack of go again, with it being one of the main things being printed, I think he actually fairs a lot better. Forcing AB with a smaller hand is a lot more impactful or trying to stock pile tokens for rune gate. Forcing the player to squeeze the most out of every card could be a nice way to upskill new players while again reducing choice and cementing the main lines of play and then the more optional follow ups. Overall deck building would be different and that's not necessarily a bad thing.
      Overall I wanted the simplest change that would have the most impact, doubling armor I feel would get complicated, make certain pieces feel completely different, temper>blade break by a larger margin, and like you said also create favored classes. But obviously so does this rule, its overall a tough question but just my 2 cents rather than forgo ~4 years of work.

    I think the problem with reducing the number of card just destroys guardian and other high pitch hero

      From playing around with it yes and no it more just changes deck construction and highlights the impact of alternative resource generation, and trading blows without completing being punished for not being the aggressor. Blues and Yellows definitely will have a much larger impact with a 3 card hand, and yeah some cards do suffer. Pulverize is probably a great example even in the scenario of heave its most likely costing the player two turns to utilize and a turn of not blocking, but in the sense of blitz to pressure 14 damage. Also in terms of a no block turn it is also far less punishing and a more valid strategic choice like CC.

      @@kllooooyy Brutes would suffer a little bit aswell, some cards need a 3 card hand, so, reducing the ability to block would translate to hoping you dont die the turn you get your power cards

      @@ivansoyyo Yeah brute definitely has the short straw with their current focus of just discard rather than draw then discard or just intimidate cards. The nice thing about beat chest though is the fact that doing it once triggers all, but still requiring no block to combo cards. Again the overall idea is that no block to be able to pull something big off is less punishing. With brute also being one of the big players in current blitz being able to pop off turn 1 or 2 with sash with one less card that type of power creep which is healthy for CC becomes more manageable.

      @@kllooooyy also, Pummel is suddenly way to good with just Intellect 3. At this point I believe just replacing Blitz for Clash is an easier way to "balance" the format. They could even start including 1 Majestic Specialization on Blitz deck at that point too.

    • @kllooooyy
      @kllooooyy  Před měsícem

      @@ivansoyyo How its the same conundrum as Brute discard, you either using 4 cards or 3 with a discount i.e trading a turn for a turn. If anything its super easy to read and over commit block to negate the damage and wade it out. In terms of clash no matter how popular it gets, IMO I can't see LSS fully committing to it or card restrictions its just not in their nature. It be easy to look through and ban specific cards for each hero in blitz to reign it in more but that's just not what they want. I'm not saying I have the solution and Clash is definitely well thought out but we'll just have to wait and see what Strike Decks bring

    Remove blitz and replace it with clash

    • @kllooooyy
      @kllooooyy  Před měsícem +1

      the lack of m's/l's would have a similar effect to less intellect but doubtful LSS wants to restrict the card pools like that, I think if we also get to a decent point across all classes making blitz a singular copy of all cards would work too
