After a year delay, A QUIET PLACE PART 2 is coming to theaters. Here are my thoughts on the sequel to the surprise hit!
#AQuietPlacePart2 - Zábava
Even though the characters were separated for large chunks of the movie, I thought the phenomenal editing really helped to reduce that feeling of separation by creating cohesive tension across all three stories.
the editing for this movie is so fucking good, i seriously hope it get nominated.
It mirrors to Star Wars' technique (A New Hope), but this film did the three pieces altogether! Probably the first film does that.
I love how it goes all rounded. In the first film they're protected by their father till he made that sacrifice. In this film their both went on to protect their mother. A poetic beautiful ending🥲

@@thealjohnsonshow2188 she didn’t rule herself out of playing Sue Storm. She said Marvel hasn’t approached her or John for the movie. Which she might be lying anyway.
This movie gave me HARD Last of Us vibes a couple of times
FACTS
Emmet & Regan definitely had big Joel & Ellie vibes for sure.
Yup as soon as Cillian and Regan went off together my mind immediately went there
It’s just everytime there’s a grown, middle aged man that’s taking care of a kid. Like in Logan, Mandalorian, Bad Batch, and now this
It really did
And I have never played last of us
There's a movie called Hush that came out a few years back. About a woman who is deaf and a mute, in a house in the middle of nowhere and someone tries to break in and she has to hide/defend herself. Tons of tension because of the fact that she can't talk nor hear and you see what's happening from her perspective, great movie.
Very enjoyable movie. Still on Netflix.
Yeah, it was great. I really enjoyed it.
I thought it sucked. A lot of dumb main character decisions
That sounds way better than this crap

The first one was my most memorable theater experience. The room was so quiet that I sucked on the popcorn. (Biting it would have been too loud.)
Lol
I saw some reviews that pointed out that snacking was a bad idea, so it was one of the only times I voluntarily DIDN'T get popcorn.
The first Quiet Place I saw you could hear everyone munching away on their popcorn and chocolate bars.
yeah gotta munch on that popcorn during the 15-20 minute of previews for this one, lol
I remember being able to hear the movie being played in the next room.
I only heard my own heartbeat
I think this last year people don't like hearing but live on past those sounds.
You cough at least once than there's pitchforks and torches all of sudden.
Yea lol and then people going...shhhh in the back lmao
John Krasinski absolutely killing it as a director.
Say it louder for the people in the back! Wait...no don't say it louder! 😱

Am I the only one who felt that the ending was just so.... abrupt? Like it felt that there was supposed to be another 10 minutes but it just... ends?
It's consistent with the first movie. I kinda like it. Basically saying "you can guess where this goes" without robbing you of closure.
I love how it goes all rounded. In the first film they're protected by their father till he made that sacrifice. In this film their both went on to protect their mother. A poetic beautiful ending🥲
just came back from the movie, same feeling here. Kinda weird ending, friends told the same. They need to add at least 10 minutes to 'finish' the movie.
That's how the first one ended. It basically ends when the climax would normally begin
Yeah, it worked for the first movie but didn’t really make as much sense in the second.
Never change the guitar riff

A Mr. Sunday Movies comment on a Jeremy Jahns video. 🤔
@@letsgetdangerous1925 What's "A Mr. Sunday Movie"?!
I knew Jim was going places. That’s what happens when you stop wasting your time pranking Dwight and start working on yourself.
Dwight was his first directing project actually. Trained himself in the art of mis-direction...
That's not Jim.
Jim's not white.
Well he did borrow Dwight’s farm in the movie, so he still is pranking him.
Cillian Murphy should be bigger than what he is.
He is like an irish Dicaprio.
I guess the difference is that he is family man and more private.
I agree. Can't wait to start watching Peaky Blinders
He’d make a solid doctor doom in my opinion. Maybe even a silver surfer
Cillian Murphy gave off Jim vibes again from 28 Days Later.
I like that this movie shows that Emmett is a different person than Lee that he doesn't have the same hope and care that Lee had and it just shows that since these events started, not everyone was the same as they were.
They should make an award for “best on-screen birth”.. cuz man, in part one, i swears Emily was really giving birth. They just told her to wait till she’s ready to pop and they were gonna film it. The most convincing birthing scene I’ve ever seen. Emily kicks ass!
Prisoners is by far the best thriller I’ve ever seen. Extremely underrated movie that not enough people talk about. Career highlights for Hugh Jackman and Jake Gyllenhaal
Omg Prisoners was insanely good. Why is it sooo underrated???
I agree. I think about that movie all the time
I love that movie. I love the ending the very last scene they never show whether high Jackman got set free but Gyllenhaal hears a faint noise as hes walking away then fade to black
I agree, Its just that the ending gives me too much anxiety. But the movie is certainly a must watch for evryone.
One of the best movies of this generation
The son was always scared. Especially in the first movie. This movie shows how scared he actually was. The baseball scene where he flinched every time. When he was scared in the first movie.
He overcame his fear to protect his mother and his baby sister.
Funny how Jeremy didn't mention the little brother's actor at all. He did extremely well in showing how he was willing to protect his family like Lee, his father would.
The mother's character (Emily playing Evelyn Abbott) saw that her son had what her husband had, just like the how Emmett saw Lee in Regan.
Favorite thriller of all time has to be Se7en. It's absolute perfection.

@@kashidchopra Thank you. I felt the same way. Nobody else has stated this. The fact that the 1st movie takes place over at least a year and QP2 takes places over probably less than 48 hrs, kinda means the characters only can go through so much and by extension you as the audience too.

Questions: In the abandoned factory the aliens demonstrated remarkable aerobatic skills on the scaffolding. How are the blind aliens able to maneuver so dexterously and acrobatically on overhead structures they cannot see? Was there any indication that they had some sort of super sonar like bats, dauphins, or Daredevil?
I forgot I had ordered popcorn and nachos and when I received it. I had to plan around opening the bag and chewing while the movie played.(I didn’t want to ruin other people experience and atmosphere) I timed my popcorn munching and nacho bag opening to the loud parts of the movie. It really added to the experience. Not only was I nervous and scared for the character but I was nervous from making noise from my food.

@@xmxh9596 there is new info, the creatures cant swim, there could be comunities of people on islands, and now se have seen how it all actually started. But more than info dumps, the movie was about finding survivors, and telling them how they can defend themselves against the monsters. It is good that is similar in some aspects and continues the story right where the first ended

@@Sacrengard It just felt like lazy writing. Making the kid do dumb shit to cause a life or death situation because what the hell else are we going to have them do.
They could have easily found a purpose for all of them and came up with creative scenarios to put them in instead of just rehashing the same scenarios they were already in.
Beginning started strong middle was super weak then they finished up strong but the whole we are clearly making a third movie wink wink nod nod ending was annoying.
@@xmxh9596 I dont mind the "nod ending" its fitting for horror movies, its not always happy endings with conclusive finales, shouldnt expect otherwise. I agree with the lazy writing on the kid part, but at this point its just a thing in this kind of movies when characters make dumb choices. I didint go to this movie expecting to be an oscar winning hit, specially being a sequel, so I just enjoyed it for what it was, a sequel to a good movie that left me wanting to see more, and now I did. This was the first movie I went to back in theaters that felt pretty normal. Glad there is a JJ movie review to go along with it!
I'm writing from 2024 and about 4 weeks from the Release of "Day One" and Jeremy, you called it! The only difference being that instead of a sequel front-loaded with 10 mins of backstory, we're getting a full-on prequel that talked place in an entirely different environment, New York City. As a man in his forties, raised on 80s thrillers and horror movies that generally took place in rural America or the suburbs, my group of friends would always muse aloud, at the pub or on the walk home, how even a great horror movie would be different if it took place in a place like Chicago or San Francisco. Would Jason, Leatherface or Michael have to duck the police? Not because they couldn't take out a cop or two but just that there are so many cops and FBI and veterans and EMTs and athletes and burly construction workers and mechanics and just millions of people almost everywhere all the time, and up at all hours! Would they have to flip the genre a bit so that those solo psychos become our protagonists? We don't want them to win but in order to kill, they'd have to figure out how to blend in rather than hide. Or maybe hide for much longer, stretching out the tension! There are bright lights, almost always an escape route and (I'm a former EMT myself) emergency vehicles are usually no more than 5-7 mins away. We used to get to scenes especially fast on weekday nights when there was little traffic! My curiosity about that particular lone wolf scenario won't be answered on the 27th but it will be interesting to see how people used to living around a lot of noise adjust to having to learn how to be extremely quiet. All the hiding places around can't save you if one of those creatures with their acute hearing is anywhere nearby, the word, "near" having been redefined to account for their completely unfair advantage. I loved AQP2 and can't wait to see how Krasinsky & Co. treat my hometown specifically but the concept of city horror generally.
One of my fave thrillers of all time is The Fugitive with Harrison Ford and Tommy Lee Jones. Such a nail biter, I love it so much.

They filmed part of this movie in my small fishing town. Production trailers were parked in our church’s parking lot and my best friend’s yard backs up to the church. We were out by a bonfire smoking bowls and hanging out while John Krasinski & Emily Blunt were about 15 feet away. Besides my friends grandma loudly proclaiming “I saw a quiet place 1 and I thought it sucked!” within earshot, it was one of the most fun and magical weekends in my town to watch the filming process take place. They paid families $500 each to vacate their homes for two days to film. Much more money than many take in on a weekend around here.
I didn't expect it but I was so emotionally invested when I watched the first movie. It was so tense, kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time and I loved it. I can't wait to see the second one, it's definitely one of my most anticipated movies!!
I had a pretty good time with this movie, the best part is hands down the opening scene, oh my god, it’s amazing, it gives you a great feeling of tension because it starts off like a completely normal day and then suddenly hits you with the big shit that’s happening, it’s like in those alien invasion movies where they’ll have a scene of kids playing sports and it seems totally normal and then all of a sudden they stop and quietly look into the distance as the ships approach, it’s like that and it’s masterfully done, Emily Blunt also gives a great performance once again, in fact she gets to show off her acting a lot more this time around since this movie has more talking than the first one, it’s not just pure silence anymore, and this movie also has some pretty brutal scenes, there’s one that happens after the opening scene that I thought was pretty hardcore, this movie definitely upped the blood compared to the first one, the movie isn’t perfect though, I think my biggest issue is that once they meet up with Cillian Murphy’s character the movie kinda slows down, there’s a lot of sitting around talking for quite a while and even though it was never to the point where I was like “Oh my god I’m bored out of my mind” it was a little dull in parts, mainly because it mostly exposition, the approach they take is having the cast divided into 2 groups that do 2 different things throughout the movie, and the stuff that goes on with the daughter is definitely more interesting than the stuff with Emily Blunt, that and this movie unfortunately decided to throw quite a few jumpscares into the mix, which was disappointing because the first movie never really sunk to that low, it was a lot more sophisticated with its scares, I also thought the ending was really abrupt, I know the first one kinda had one too but to that movie’s credit when it happened it at least felt like a legit cliffhanger, here it felt like it just suddenly stopped, in the end though this movie was still pretty good, the acting is really strong, it has good tension, good suspense, you get to see more carnage this time, and even though it felt more disjointed than the first one and isn’t as good it was still a decent follow up so I’ll give it a 6/10
Good review. But where’s Castlevania’s review mannnnn?
We need Castlevania
