    Today I purchased the cheapest PS5 so far, but it had some work done to it previously. Can we fix it and sell it for a profit?

      Probably didn't have a scope. I've done a few now and they are very hard to do so easy to bridge the pins. If you have the iron on too long it melts the plastic and the solder bridges so might as well start again at that point.

    It was really nice of Sony to put that component so close to the pins.

    • @TheSpotify95
      @TheSpotify95 Před 11 měsíci +1

      Indeed, so when you replace the port, you lose the component... Fantastic indeed!

  • @RB-pc7tg
    @RB-pc7tg Před 11 měsíci

    @11:00 you can keep the part and the board warm by using hot air in one hand and soldering iron in the other. Your ground connections will flow easier and you should be able to remove bridges with just the iron, no braid. You can reduce the heat so you don’t melt plastic components or just keep the hot air at a distance. This two handed soldering method has helped me for a long time.

    Love your videos, Joey. I'm always interested in seeing what you've posted. I've thought about doing something similar, trying to fix broken eBay electronics and selling them but it's really luck of the draw. Happy to see that you're on a win streak. Appreciate the content, man. Good luck on future repairs and profits!

    Also the fact that a ribbon cable for LEDs is more expensive than a HDMI port is hilarious.

    Nice fix! I'm sensing a theme here - for some reason, the HDMI ports always seem to fail! We never had this back when we had AV/Composite ports on old Playstation 2 consoles... 😛

    @riparaggi Před 11 měsíci +3

    Great work mate! HDMI issues are way too common with those PS5. One question only, why do you place the little cap before touching up all the pins? I found easier fixing all the pins and then pick up this little cap in position

    Hahaha gets Haribo but now I'm really curious about the mess inside xD are these hdmi encoders for the ps5 really expensive?
    And Joey do you have videos were you work on controllers like Xbox One/series and PlayStation 4/5?

  • @FreeWhilly734
    @FreeWhilly734 Před 11 měsíci

    Your sum up rounds it up so well these are so expensive to buy currently. I'm not really sure why either like usually we can be talking £100 between a broken one and working. I would say we are talking 50% fix rate so they just aren't worth fixing. If you get one like you did £150 and just the port then great but if it's the retimer then add £50, chances of it working after?
    Not sure why they are going for so much on eBay most of them are launch consoles so they ain't going to last long till something else fails.
    Love watching your videos takes some skill to do them pins with the iron, i know because I've tried it... I'm just using a £30 scope and a phone so pretty much all the pins look bridged 🤣.

  • @FreeWhilly734
    @FreeWhilly734 Před 11 měsíci

    I've really struggled with bridges when i do a port. I've tried a 3mm tip but even with the iron on 400 it didn't put enough heat into the pins to solder properly and as soon as you press on the pin... A) pin bends = start again B) bottom of port melts = start again.
    You need a large iron to get the solder to flow to dump enough heat but you cant get the tip in.. What seems to work for me is pre tin the board and port then drop it on hot. It ain't perfect but my scope isn't good enough and i get the shakes 😂.

  • @anks888
    @anks888 Před 11 měsíci

    There is a trace connecting them 2 pads near the hdmi so putting a component there would be pointless

    Joey. On last PS5 find the CZcamsr Uber Micro Repairs. Then find his video PS5 Not Reading Disks It's Not the Laser! I think youtube auto-moderated my comment. See if that resolves.

  • @imod.systems
    @imod.systems Před 11 měsíci +1

    I have the Hakko micro pencil for the 951 and the knife tip makes short work of jobs like this. It’s small enough where you can work each pin individually. You can touch it up an individual pin with 0.015 diameter solder. Give it a try!

    Everybody struggles soldering the hdmi port on a ps5 with a hakko. They don’t have enough power for this job and I won’t go into the issues with the tips. But point out that they aren’t that good to someone who bought one and they will not like it one bit. 😂
