- Split-Fire 1165 keeps the operation afloat. With all the rain I've been getting had to switch to the 1165 log splitter instead of using the 2265 in the wood yard.

I wish it was 70 degrees here in Connecticut! In the 40's today, no snow and sunny! Certainly no humidity! LOL! You are always busy! Good for the soul! 🙂🌲🎅
Candice definitely always busy. It’s raining now hopefully get out this afternoon and cut more wood. Currently editing and making videos for Our Greene Acres channel. Thanks for watching.
Good to have something to do on a damp humid day. Catch you on the next one Ben. Take care.
Yeah I better get used to it because it’s still raining. Going to try to get more later. Hope you have a good weekend.
Good evening Sir, you are working very light ( they are calling for -4 F ) tonight 🥶 Outstanding electric wood splitter 😇👌👍Keep up your OUTSTANDING work Sir Cheers 👍👍👌👌😇😇🍻🍻
Dave quit bragging about your weather lol. We’ve actually had the AC on for the last three days. Supposed to cool down next week. I got more split today with the electric splitter it’s really quick. I told Teresa I think it’s faster than the 2265 when working with the smaller stuff. Take care, Ben.
Ben I know the feeling of everything being wet.. This time of year here in the Pacific NW days after rain you can still see water on everything..
I can imagine you do. Been raining here all morning starting to slack up may get out this afternoon and harvest some more.
That dead red oak is all I burn here in NJ. I give a lot of it to my buddy, who has an outdoor boiler. It makes a huge mess when you bring the punky wood into the house. I have a problem when I open my garage door in weather like you are having. All the tools are cold and when the humid air gets on them it condenses, causing rust on the cast iron tops. Great video!
Thanks really appreciate you watching. I’ll find something to do with the punky oak have a few customers that like it because I cut them a deal on the price. The humidity is bad we had the bedroom window open and the toilet was sweating so bad I thought we had a leak. Take care,Ben.
Too bad the oak is getting punky! That little splitter is pretty cool👍👍
Yeah I wish I would’ve been cutting it last winter. The little splitter really blows through the small stuff. I need a larger table for the splits so they don’t fall on the ground. I’ll get it figured out.
Hah! You have Western NY weather. Gloomy, dreary, and damp.
That poplar you have looks a lot like our Black Walnut. Cool looking wood, very unique smell, splits really nice- but only moderate btu content. And the heartwood can have a purplish tint when it's green. I really like the aroma when it burns.
Just got a load of mixed oak, and a fair bit of it has that punky sapwood... But it's fine- it works well for my purpose- cooking. Right now, oak can be hard to find. Not only because it's late in the season for buying wood, but because we have SO many dead standing Ash trees around, it's all everyone is cutting!
You funny guy the gloomy continues supposed to rain 2”-3” tomorrow. Heck I’m not a 100% on the poplar who knows for sure. It does have a lot of consistency on the coloring. I’ve never cut walnut that I remember I may be totally wrong may have to investigate further. Yes I’m the king of punky oak burn lots of it. Supposed to cool off soon I’m ready to feed the heater and quit nursing it. Thanks for all the feedback appreciate the conversation. Take care, Ben.
@@OGAOutdoors I've split 2 different kinds of "poplar" this year: one has thick grey bark, splits real easy, is surprisingly heavy, and has yellow rings- kinda like ash, but more yellow. nice looking stuff! The other has brownish heartwood, but still the same sort of bark and wood.
I suspect one may be quaking Aspen, and the other tulip poplar. As both are very common here. Tulip isn't actually a poplar- it's a magnolia- but is commonly called yellow poplar. Neither looks anything at all like yours. Because it splits so nice, I'm probably going to save it to make kindling, once I use up my blue spruce.
@@pyroman6000 I just recently split a big popular. The colors varied a lot not like this stuff. So based on our conversation you have me thinking. Looking at this stuff I thought it was hickory from looking at the bark.
That's a great deal that the developers let you go onto their land and save all the wood. Hopefully you can salvage the red oak. I put my punky wood to one end of my firewood pile and plan to burn it during the warmer days when I only need to take the nip out of the house. Enjoy the journey - cheers
Bob I got two more loads this afternoon. One was red oak and the other was hickory. I split all of it with the 1165. It has really been earning its keep lately. Not much chill knocking off around here had the AC on some the last few days. Take care, Ben.
@@OGAOutdoors - I was stationed in Biloxi, MS in 1980. I was running around in shorts in December 1980. I was loving it. Until the cold finally hit in January. Gulf Coast cold is bone chilling.
The little electric splitter does a great job, Thinking of getting me a small electric splitter to keep here at the house.
It does nicely. I don’t try to push it too hard about 10”-12” diameter and straight grained.
Have a Great Christmas and a Happy New Year from Canada
Thank you sir hope you do as well. If you could send some cold air down this way when you have time lol. Take care God Bless.
Always good to have a couple options when weather sets in. Take care
Yes sir it’s. Now the issue is getting the trailer to the wood stack to unload lol.
Nice job Ben!
Thanks Chad just playing in the rain lol.
Good luck with your channel, Ben. You sure do a hard day's work. This cold weather is helpful to your business. Thanks for sharing.
Yes the cold weather was good now it’s warm and rainy. Hopefully get through a couple more days then cooler weather moves in. Heck Teresa has even had the AC on the past two nights. Hope you have a great weekend.
Ben, it's raining here to in Oregon. Tis that time of year for all of us to dodge rain and snow storms. The electric splitter is a great addition for the small jobs and gives you more options. We are getting over the nasty flu bug that's going around, keep yourself safe and healthy!
Steve
Yeah it’s raining every day here too. Rained all morning then I split two loads this afternoon with the 1165. Maybe I shouldn’t talk to you since you have been sick glad you’re getting better. I had something over a month ago no symptoms just felt bad and had a fever. Finally got over it. Hope y’all have a good weekend.
You need to get a longer bar, stand up and buck.
I normally do most of my bucking with my tractor picking up the logs. This job that wasn’t an option. Thanks for stopping by.
Keep in’. At it Ben , always good seeing what you got going on. Take care and cut , split , stack & sell on man👍👍☑️
Thanks Richy I’m trying can’t get a break from this rain.
I’d find that electric splitter handy for making our bundles inside the shop this winter. I can’t find it on their website. Is it a ‘prototype’ that they sent you?
Jeff no it’s for sale. I’m not sure if the link will work in comments but here it’s.

@@OGAOutdoors I drive past their factory every month on one of my work trips. I should make a plan to stop in and see them.
@@thelogfather5002 That would be cool I want to go. If you do be sure to tell them I said hello.
nice splitter, how long of a piece will it split? thanks
I’m guessing maybe 18”-20”. The specs on the website site say 20” stroke length.
Looks like a gold mine
Yeah there’s a lot there only problem is some of it may be too far gone. I’ll get what I can. Thanks for watching.
